Today I had Aldi's pulled pork, you just pop in the oven. It's £2.19 and fed 2 people. I would recommend it completely!

On the other hand I bought their sundried tomatoes today, they are horrible. They are really bitter. I don't know what I am going to do with the rest

a few weeks ago they had tomatoes in the super 6, when I opened the cellophane to have one, thick furry mold grew instantly across the whole pack, never thought much of it. next time I went I got my usual cherry toms and they did the same thing, I did check them before hand due to the last time and they looked ok.
ive only been buying toms for about 18 months as I was never keen on them but found I liked them grilled or roasted, but I wont be buying them again from anywhere.

ive not posted for a few months so don't know if its been mentioned before by others.

also while im having a go, the fruit shortcake hills biscuits aren't as good as the others they used to sell Belmont I think they where, so they are off the list.

but on a good note the sausage rolls are delicious (warmed up in the oven) 5 in a pack, crestwood if memory serves, (green pack) much better than the ee ones which given there due are good and better than the bigger s'market home brands.

I wonder how long it will be before Aldi (and perhaps Lidl) do the logical (and probably by now sensible) thing - and ditch all the silly 'brand' names they use.

Haven't we now reached the stage at which customers would be quite happy (possibly happier than they are with the current made up 'brands' even) to see the word 'Aldi' as the main branding on the pack, instead of having it hidden away in the small print?

Had the Aldi Cheese & Bacon ( or was it Bacon & Cheese ) ? Pasta Bake with some Shell Pasta for tea and it was absolutely Brilliant ! Creamy sauce with chunks of bacon went well :)
Now for the next flavour ..... :)
    Try some !

Aldi's Holly Lane Tiramisu gateau is yummy and so is their chocolate gateau.

I and few others have this issue with Alidi fruit and veg not lasting.

Would definitely recommend Lidl Vine tomatoes on offer this weekenf for 89p kg or the family sized net prices varies £1.19 to £1.59.
They last for up to 2 weeks and taste and feel like a tomato should.:T

I have just decided I am not going to buy anymore fresh fruit/veg from Aldi's. I have just thrown out a pack of salad and pack of spinach both dated 11 June which when I opened tonight were horrible - really soggy, sticking together and soft. I have had problems with mushrooms, tomatoes, bananas and other stuff in the past. I may have to pay a bit more at one of the bigger supermarkets but their stuff does seem to keep better. It's not a bargain if it's cheaper but ends up being thrown away ....

I know some years ago they got a bad rep for there f &v, but since ive been shopping there for the last few month its been much much better, just the odd glitch, no worse than the big s'markets, it was just perhaps a coincidence to be both tomatoes in my case, and both where opened within a day of purchace so wasn't a date issue.

summer is always a problem for me with f &v as ive nowhere cool to keep it, perhaps I should buy less and more regular, but then its easy to impulse buy and over spend, its a double edged sword.:rotfl:

I always buy their oranges in bulk and store in the fridge until required - upto a month and they are fine, no chance of scurvy in the VfM household. But then I have a new and rather super FF. ;)

And I would suggest that the Aldi brand is about a million times stronger than "Belmont" or whatever forgettable names they come up with. The Aldi logo is clear as day on most of the back of boxes and packets anyway. I definitely agree that they should dump these made up "brands" and just put their own logo big and bold on everything instead.
