Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Second the Aldi cheese and caramelised onion tart, it's a chilled Specially Selected one.
The 6-pack cans of (French? Belgian?) lager shandy were back at my Aldi, really refreshing. When Aldi bring something back, they always put 'NEW' up on the shelf edge, which is slightly disappointing when you see it's something they stocked in the past, but this is a favourite of mine.
Good to see oranges and bananas on the Super 6 this week.
Trying to think of what I use Tesco for these days. Filtered milk, as Aldi's is often short-dated. Crackerbread, Worcestershire sauce, and really, very little else.
Cooking bacon I get from Heron, ditto lambs' liver, breaded fish fillets and frozen veg.
Wilkinson's and Savers get the rest of my custom for things like Lenor (stock up on special offers) and some toiletries.
I tried the Aldi Aussie lookie-likey conditioner on Specialbuy last week, great stuff but goodness it is thick, quite hard to get out of the bottle.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Went into Morrisons the other day (first time in ages) and they have reduction signs and offers everywhere.
Wow, Tesco have responded quickly. New advert shows how 'cheap' some of their items are. Milk now £1, the same as Aldi. They really are running scared. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
The square cakes in a plastic wrapper are very scrummy in Aldi. They have chocolate and tiramisu type for £1.49 I think. They are normally on the bottom shelf on the times I have seen them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Aldi's milk has now gone down below £1.
I noticed that Sainsbury's today had a version of Super6 at 69p. Mushrooms weren't good value as pack was smaller. Tomatoes were bog standard while Aldi's were vine and look much tastier. Best buy looked to be celery, 69p is a good price for that.0 -
£1 for 2L presumably. Also, organic milk is 87p at Aldi for half-litre.
Noticed the St Etienne Belgian lager tins at Aldi have shrunk, did they get a price drop for that I wonder?0 -
Only slightly off topic but I have to share that our community Council unanimously decided to approve Aldi's application for a new store last week, hurray!!! At the same time T announced that they would not be building the superstore they had planned. Gosh, my wishes came true after 10 years of them talking nonsense until they finally noticed that T was messing the village about!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

You're right about the Aldi milk being short-dated. We're frequently shopping at Lidl these days just to avoid the Aldi milk.0 -

We were due to have a new Morrisons here, but that has been cancelled. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
