Apart from Toro Loco red wine from Aldi (the £3.59 one if im right), any other wines I should try from Aldi and Lidl that are worth trying ?

Bleurgh! The aforementioned Aldi fresh minted lamb burgers were not dissimilar to eating meaty toothpaste. The brioche burger buns I put them in, on the other hand, were lovely.Grocery challenge June 2016

Try all of them - haven't found a bad one yet. Added to which, wine is such a personal thing (rather like sausages!) that no two people are ever likely to agree on which are best.0 -
~Chameleon~ wrote: »Aldi do a really nice Argentinian Malbec. It's at the top end of their wines price wise but still a bargain at just £5.49 (I think). I've paid double that for a less decent wine in other supermarkets.
The Pinot Grigio with the large grey label is also very palatable. That's less than £4 so another bargain!
Thanks, ill make a note of them and get a bottle next time im in.ScarletMarble wrote: »The Kooliburra range. https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/drinks/wine-cellar/red-wine/red-wine-product-detail-page/ps/p/kooliburra-australian-shiraz/. Do a Cabernet, Rose and Chardonnay.

I totally agree, I also love sausages, in fact I still haven't tried them from Aldi.0 -
My favourite is the simple Italian White (Aldi) for £ 3.09 a bottle, until recently £ 2.99. Before the price rises at Lidl's I usually got the Pedro Jimenez white (don't remember the grape variety).First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

Lidl are currently stocking Grafenwalder Radler cloudy. Radler, I recently discovered, is German for "Shandy" and it's 50% beer, 50% cloudy lemonade and orange juice. Very nice on a hot afternoon like today. It's in a green can, 49p and, in my branch, not stored with the other alcoholic products.
This week they have camping equipment, including this torch. My son, who is in the industry, tells me that Cree are the world leaders in LED technology. On his recommendation I bought a similar torch to this and it's amazing. Easily a 100m beam from a single LED. My lad reckons his was nearer 200m on a recent camping trip in an area with no light pollution.0 -
I bought a bottle of baron st jean french red wine last week for a tutor on a course I had just finished and also a merlot. The baron st jean was 2.99 and the merlot was 3.29. Have never had a bad bottle of wine from asda yet (I dont drink these days but when I did, aldi was always my go to shop).0

My daughter bought me the Austin Pimms-a-like from Aldi for my birthday. I actually prefer it to Pimms. It's one of their best sellers, apparently.
I didn't find the pulled pork particularly spicy, but it was heavenly in part-baked Aldi baguettes.
I wish we had a Lidl nearer for the Radler. My Aldi hasn't stocked their excellent continental lager shandy for a little while now. On the plus side, they did have a lovely American Cream soda on special. I prefer that to their pink lemonade, not so impressed with that one.
Re the Aldi washing stuff. I use the Almat biological gel and coloured gel and both are the equal of Ariel in my book. I don't use the fabric softeners, as nothing beats Lenor. Aldi do have Lenor on Specialbuy from time to time. Their stain remover (also regularly on Specialbuy) is excellent.
Edit: Purpleshoes, I am a tutor... I wish I had students like you!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Ha! It was my gym level 2 course which I started in 2012, but it was a really difficult year for me and mine, member of my family went through some really tough stuff and they were pretty unwell and I was also with the stress, so started it, lasted 3 days and deferred. Took me a long time to go back and do it again and the tutor was lovely, her teaching style, her personality, she was really approachable, she wasnt the assessor on the day, because if you teach it, you dont assess it, but I was very grateful to her for getting me to the point where I thought I could sit the assessment, never mind pass it first time, which I did, with really good feedback so I thought the least I could do was buy a couple of bottles of wine for her (Id have done it if I hadnt passed)
I had a look in asda the same day, but I think for the quality of wine you get in aldi, you'll pay about 2 quid more in asda for the same quality.
Also bought some dark choc for my brother and his pal for their support when I needed some help with my technique on a few exercises, but I got that in asda, not aldi, although I have bought a few bars of dark choc for myself in aldi lately and enjoyed it.
I also used to drink austins back in the day when I did drink, I agree, its very nice and a total bargain.
One thing I really do like is aldis bagels, particularly the wholemeal kind, very nice indeed.0
