Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Mmmmm I think I'm going to switch to Aldi.
I seriously don't think you'll regret it. I'm a former Waitrose/M&S shopper that got introduced accidentally to Aldi when I realised there was a store in the town I'd started training in. Since then I've switched almost all my shopping over to them, in incremental measures, and so far all bar one product (microwaveable egg fried rice which I don't use but my son wanted to try - yuk!) has so far been successful.
I reckon 95% of my shopping now comes from Aldi and the other 5% isn't from lack of availability, but access to a store as my regular is 20 miles away, although I believe they're opening one in a nearby town just 6 miles away soon :j“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Cham - I'm a Lidl shopper but there is some stuff that I have bought for dd that tastes horrid ie the crisps. Judging by the comments here, it seems like Aldi's taste nicer.
Also the fruit is going off waaay too quickly and I'm wasting money because I have to throw it out.Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0 -

I don't often eat crisps but bought a pack of 6 on last month's offer and they seriously rivalled Walkers in taste!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

. Excellent value when included on the weekend 1/2 price offer list, usually at 49p!

I think they are 69 p but even if it's more I don't care!
I read the post again and discovered it was Lidl so I went there and bought a bar.
I've just done a head to head and have this to report -
Lidl bar (69p/100gm): chocolate tastes vile, caramel crunch sparse and tasteless.
Daim bar (99p/112gm): chocolate smooth and creamy, caramel crunch solid, right through the centre, and tasty.
Winner: Daim bar, easily worth the extra 2p/gm.0 -
Lidl's Choco Hoppers are nice a bit like the old Peanut Treats.0

Could not get the Bamboo washing up liquid and got pomegranate instead. Not so nice on the hands and smell. Should anyone else come across the large green Bamboo and Lotus bottles of Magnum washing up liquid at Aldis, please let me know then I'll drive over and get a boxFirst they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

I've always found aldi and lidls crisps too greasy or salty, the only ones in the ranges I can get on with are the large bag of aldi prawn crackers0

I don't like most supermarkets' own label crisps for the greasiness. I wait until branded crisps are on offer - talking £1 per 6 pack of Walkers or when the 12-20 packs are on BOGOF/half price. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yeah same here, never pay more than £1 for 6 whatever the type...I'm a bit of a crisps tart0
