A thought I just occurred to me.

I remember at school, in the late 80s when we brought in our packed lunches, we got teased for having Tesco or Sainsburys own label crisps and chocolate bars.

Do kids today get teased for having Aldi/Lidl brands?

No. Just the Tesco or Sainsburys own label stuff. :D

Lidl's Deluxe Crackers (savoury) were reduced to just 99p per box in my local the other day and really excellent quality. Worth a look.
I check most of the Deluxe stuff for offers/reductions and also grabbed the butter fudge (Deluxe) for 99p also (normally £1.29).

I'm going to disagree as well. In fact, I'd say Aldi's yogurts are the nicest I've ever had.

The standard cheapie 27p Brooklea ones are lovely and a bargain. But I usually treat myself to a few of the dearer ones too.

My top 2 recommendations would be the Specially Selected Devonshire Fudge yogurt (with little fudge pieces - scrummy!) and another one I can't remember the flippin' name of but it's another Specially Selected one - has strawberry on top and the creamiest yogurt I've ever tasted underneath. I'll update when I next get one (hopefully gonna pop in later today).

I believe both are only about 49p and are heaven on a spoon. They're not low-fat but as a little cheeky treat they can't be beat.

    I am talking about:
Watery - 6 pack multifruits ones. They are in a sky blue packet

Chemical aftertaste - Their new Muller Light Greek style yoghurts and the small individual lf yoghurts

Boring flavours - their 'Activia' range. Only seen peach, raspberry layer, strawberry and prune in this range. Hate the latter two flavours.

Thank goodness one of the big 4 does offers on Muller lights and Activia yoghurts. Will not pay more than 35p for ML and 30p for Activia

They probably wouldn't have a clue that your kids have far superior brands to their local run of the mill supermarket. This just shows how branded people have become. Even more that you'd even consider it to be an issue!! Scary

ETA: how long will it take for people to realise Aldi et al are far superior to Tesco!!

Most oiks are well-behaved when visiting. It is your own children that tend to gripe. Any visitors who ill-advisedly do the same are not invited back. Simple.

    I have returned from Aldi.

As I normally work Saturdays (on annual leave) there were a few annoying things like too much empty cardboard trays cluttering the place up. But I got a small trolley!

    Today I bought:
. 3 x bottles of fruit crush drinks. The morello cherry tastes like cherry Tango
    . 1 x diet tonic water
    . 1 x pink lemonade 2l
    . 1 x Montepulciano red wine
    . 3 x super 6 items - beetroot, tomatoes, chillies
. 1 x multipack of Brooklea Duo crunch split pots
. 2 x Desira Double Choc and cream deserts
. 1 x tomato brushetta snack breads - the past few posts about them reminded me how fab they are
    . 2 x chilli beef pizzas

Then these things as never tried them before:
. 2 x long life filled pasta. They are 65p each and I bought Pesto and prosciutto
    . 1 x Alska fruit cider
. 1 x Moo Milk Chocolate Fudge Milk

    All came to £17.85

I am doing a separate post for this.

Does anyone struggle to find good dates with yoghurts? I wanted the granola yoghurt split pots pack but the longest date I saw was 9th May.

I don't have this problem with Muller or Shape (in the pink pots) when I buy them in the big 4 when they are on offer. I bet some supermarkets have 1st June already as a use by date with Muller or Shape,

Why on earth are you doing Aldi a dis-service by buying their bottom-line crap products? Why didn't you go for their excellent value meat/veg/poultry/deli etc and save yourself an absolute fortune?

Not me, I buy in bulk and so regularly eat yoghurt that is 6 weeks out of date and languishing in my fridge.

I have a freezer full of meat. But I NEVER buy Aldi's beef mince as I only go for the extra lean stuff. I cannot find smoked bacon in my Aldi - it's always unsmoked. The pizzas are for tonight as got 2 friend coming round - both fussy eaters and I know they eat Pizza Express' Sloppy Joe.

The fizzy drinks are for the driving friend who does not like Coke, the only soft drinks I always have in.

The yoghurts are for work as noticed I have only 4 yogs in the fridge.

It's not my fault if my friends are fussy eaters! If they had the same taste palette as me, I would bought some specially selected meats, cheeses, olives etc and done a tapas thing out of them.
