I mentioned this awhile back and got a lecture about bubbles not equating cleaning power. I have to say I still think I'm going to switch back to Sainsburys WOL when this bottle is over, its not the same without the bubbles!

Aldi's Magnum is as good as Fairy IMO.
  • I have tried their version of ryvita and its horrible, it's like cardboard .
Their yoghurts are delicious I've tried all different ones the family like the corner ones I like the creamy ones and the ones which are like muller lights are non fat and very tasty.
The cheese I agree is really good but the spreadable butter is very greasy and tastes cheap.
I have only recently changed to shopping at Aldi and have compared their prices for total shopping list on my supermarket site and it has come out much cheaper on every occasion even Tesco is about £20 more expensive and that's where I used to shop mostly.
I have to admit I haven't tried their own cereals I'm a bit of a cereal snob so if anyone can recommend them I am willing to give them a try :)

    Re Aldi.
I would advise against getting the Aldi version of special K, I had to throw them out they were that bad. Their Carino shampoo is good as are the washing sachets, brown bread, and chicken fillets and curry sauces. I've had a lemon cheesecake from them and that was also nice.Their spray deodorant was rubbish and not a patch on Sure.
They dont seem to do reduced calorie orange squash. I think overall they are reasonable but I have to still shop elcewhere for things. Other bargains can be found at Home Bargains/Heron Foods/Iceland and outdoor markets for fruit and veg.

Can I remind everyone not to talk about "their versions" - and tell which store ( Aldi or Lidl ) you are talking about ? It isnt always obvious from reading

I only eat museli and I'm a bit fussy but I like Aldis muesli. Aldis version of Weetabix and Hot Oat Cereal is ok too.

Son is only a fan of the Chocolate Pillows out of the childrens type cereals. He says everything else tastes like cardboard.:(

My DH loves the Lidl luxury muesli, especially the one in the blue bag which has won a Good Housekeeping award. I only go to Lidl occasionally so I stock up when I'm there.

Yes that's what I buy for myself if I happen to pop in. I hate muesli that is all oats and no fruit/nuts.

Must admit, I'm not a great fan of Lidl. I like their swing bin liners though.

I buy the muesli when I'm there for the dishwasher stuff. I'm impressed with the salt and rinse aid.

The Aldi premium mueslis are all wonderful imo - these are the ones in the Dorset Cereals type boxes for £1.59, 500g, berry, nut and exotic varieties. They often have the tops open - annoyingly - as the cardboard tear strips make the tops fragile, but the bags inside are sealed, so they are safe to buy.
The luxury muesli (purple bag, 750g) is very good too.

Following the mention of Heron Foods by dandelionclock30, here is a thread I started on good buys from Heron/Farmfoods.

Specially selected coleslaw/as good as M&S/Waitrose
Specially selected pork and herb sausage (OH raved about these)
    Torchon Ham
    Farmhouse Multigrain batch bread
Carmeniere blend red wine - excellent
Cookie Dough American style Ice Cream was rate in our househould as "non too shabby"
    Fresh whole chicken
Parmesan cheese blocks are brill - lived in Italy and this is superb in taste and value.

I want to try continental plum crumble tart, but it's big, have resisted so far, but with Easter coming up, it's on my list. Yummy.
