Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Well, it's only ketchup so no biggie but - just to offer a different view in case anyone is still undecided on giving it a try - I like it.
Only use a small dollop on egg & chips etc kinds of meals (or yummy hot dogs) but really don't notice much difference from any other ketchup I've tried. And it's really cheap, natch!
Unless they've reformulated it, of course?0 -
I've always thought the ketchup was pretty good but i have had several tops that have broken.0

we're not keen on the Ketchup either but we're Ketchup snobs in our house so it has to be Branston or Heinze.0

I bought a load of ketchup from Lidl months ago on 1/2 price offer (all of 34p) and I love it.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Unfortunately they changed the recipe a few years ago and, as you suggest, it's now pretty awful. Prior to the change it was very good.Stompa0 -

I'm a ketchup snob, has to be Heinz, but I can count on one hand the times I use ketchup in a year (whenever I have chippy fish & chips) so I rarely buy it. I pick up sachets from cafes etc whenever I see them. The last bottle got thrown out as it had gone off before I finished it :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Have to say Lidls own large bottles of washing up liquid has gone a bit pants. It's all abit wattery and the bubbles disappear quickly. Even Tescos cheapo range is better now.
I mentioned this awhile back and got a lecture about bubbles not equating cleaning power. I have to say I still think I'm going to switch back to Sainsburys WOL when this bottle is over, its not the same without the bubbles! We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

Always have Sainsburys and sometimes they sell it for £1.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
