No, your daughter has to start eating what is dolloped on to her dish and to stop being fussy. And you have to stop indulging her.

(What on earth is 'children's' yoghurt, anyway? Or 'children's' anything? That is what is wrong with Britain. I thought we were progressing from such idiotic habits. If you don't want a continental-style supermarket then don't shop there - don't try to drag it down be the same as others. 'Ooh, teddy bear shaped luncheon meat. In different colours.' (I do not want to know how they vary the shades.))

    Pah!

Alrighty and I'm not an idiot.
I....yes I, want my dd to have a little treat she likes and Aldi/Lidl don't sell a particular type. They have 'copied' yoghurt in a squeezy tube, the very small fromage frais pots and the corners but not the ones with jelly on top (do not advise that I can make it) The normal yogs have huge chunks of fruit which alot of children don't like.
You make a sweeping judgement on how I feed my child and also on my parenting. Indulging?? A yog treat? Give me a break.
I didn't realise the yogs were continental in type. Seemed pretty standard to me.

We as adults talk about going elsewhere for things we prefer, why can't parents do the same for children. It would just be nice if it was all under the same roof.

There really was no need to have a tantrum.

I think the point Nada666 was rather bluntly trying to make is that often children's yoghurts and desserts are overloaded with sugar which is completely unnecessary and unhealthy. This is predominantly a Western problem and one rarely found on the continent, hence why Aldi don't stock such items. I agree that it would be a crying shame if they were to start to.

But Cham, they already do. I listed them in my last post. It really was a light-hearted 'wish'.....not a huge deal.

'Worship', A. Badger? I've just seen several examples of excellent customer service quoted, and prior to that some objective views. [/QUOTE

No doubt. And yet we have also seen examples of Aldi double charging some of its customers and other posters on this thread who had disliked Aldi (or Lidl) products. That is exactly the sort of balance you would expect to find, with highs and lows.

What intrigues me is that there seems to be a marked reluctance to admit that everything isn't always wonderful - epitomised by the Aldiphiles' bristling at any criticism.

What intrigues me is the way you continually lurk around this thread, despite the fact you shop in neither Aldi nor Lidl, and yet have probably made more comments here than many of those that do. That and the fact that the comments you do make are resolutely negative, and the way you make snide and sarky comments about "Aldiphiles". Haven't you got anything better to do with your time?

This is meant to be a thread for forumites to help each other out by commenting on products available in one or both of the stores and giving an opinion as to whether they are good or bad. It's not meant to be an outlet for people with an axe to grind to look down their noses at those of us that do like the stores.

And in any case, how would you even know if "everything isn't always wonderful" - by your own admission you don't even shop there! Why don't you give it a rest

How incredibly ill-mannered. I think you should show a little more courtesy and stop being so patronising

PS: and really, if you think products specifically aimed at, and marketed for children, are unique to Britain and are not to be found in "continental" supermarkets I suggest you need to take your blinkers off and get around more supernarkets when across the channel. You'll find plenty of such products, all produced by the same multi-national manufacturers that make the stuff on sale in our shops.

If they already do (never seen such things in the store I use) then why complain?

I don't see it as patronising, but more educating. Ok, it could have been stated better but the overall message remains the same. Children's products contain far too much sugar than is healthy and should be banned!!

I, for one, is glad that Aldi don't pander to the wishes of ill-educated British people. The EU has a far better idea about healthy food than the UK will ever have unless drastic changes are made. That will never happen though because the food industry has the government and big pharma in it's pocket.

On the subject of lower sugar, I tried the new Aldi sweet popcorn. Not coated with toffee like the market leader, but enough to taste sweet. Lovely, just right.
Irony and light-heartedness don't always come over well in print alas.

BTW for anyone who didn't read carefully in bean55's post , it looks as if it's me ranting against Aldi and not A.Badger.
I love Aldi! Not with blinkers on, but I do love Aldi!
Fwiw, I've read some of the other posts of A.Badger and it's 'Victor Meldrew' we're dealing with rather than a troll, I think.
