Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

What intrigues me is the way you continually lurk around this thread, despite the fact you shop in neither Aldi nor Lidl, and yet have probably made more comments here than many of those that do. That and the fact that the comments you do make are resolutely negative, and the way you make snide and sarky comments about "Aldiphiles". Haven't you got anything better to do with your time?
This is meant to be a thread for forumites to help each other out by commenting on products available in one or both of the stores and giving an opinion as to whether they are good or bad. It's not meant to be an outlet for people with an axe to grind to look down their noses at those of us that do like the stores.
And in any case, how would you even know if "everything isn't always wonderful" - by your own admission you don't even shop there! Why don't you give it a rest
As you are obviously endowed with uncanny powers of perception, perhaps you would now like to quote the post where I say I never shop at Aldi.
Otherwise, an apology for your imagination is called for.0 -

I love Aldi! Not with blinkers on, but I do love Aldi!
Fwiw, I've read some of the other posts of A.Badger and it's 'Victor Meldrew' we're dealing with rather than a troll, I think.
That would be 'troll' being defined as: 'someone who has the audacity to disagree with me' no doubt.0 -
A Badger: this thread is not supposed to be a forum for an argument - that is what DT caters for more than adequately! Can we stick to the purpose of the thread, ie good or bad buys from Aldi and Lidl.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Why would anyone shop at a store they actively dislike ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Well, personally, I absolutely adore Aldi and I don't give a monkeys who knows it.
They sell lovely food which is mostly easily as good as big-brands but for a much cheaper price.
I've saved hundreds, maybe even thousands by shopping there since I "discovered" them a few years ago and it's dramatically helped me reduce my debt.
I think Aldi are one of the best things to happen to the struggling "working-classes" in the modern age. I couldn't give a toss if one or two oddballs on these forums think that we're all some kind of weird cult that blindly defends Aldi at every turn - I just ignore them. One or two people keep banging on about us Aldi fans and keep "pointing out" the shops "faults" as if saying we're all blind idiots. I just think these people have issues of some kind.
It's just a shop. A brilliant shop that sells great stuff at low prices. It's got a brilliant business model which so obviously uses many of the same people that make branded goods but also make the same thing for Aldi. They buy in massive bulk, chuck the stuff in a different box and sell for much cheaper. Everybody's a winner. Banging on about selling oil next to socks is completely irrelevent if the prices are great and they always are.
If some people want to pick faults with Aldi, I really couldn't care. They should do whatever pleases them. If they prefer a "cleaner", "better-lit", etc (I've heard the lot over the years) shop, good for them. Personally, I used to get sick when I went through a supermarket checkout and gasped at the massive bill. I never thought I'd ever do a supermarket shop and find myself thinking "blimey, that's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be" but it happens all the time at Aldi.
So, yes, I'm a massive fan. It's just a supermarket but it's improved the quality of the food I eat, the number of treats I can now afford to buy and it's helped bust my debt. I couldn't be a happier customer. If anyone wants to think that I'm "blind" or part of some sort of Aldi cult, well I really couldn't care less what some random anonymous oddball typing furiously at their keyboard thinks of me so whatever.
Still, typing this has filled 10 minutes of a very dull night shift so I suppose the weird comments were good for something.0 -

Spot-on - well said! You (and thousands of other like-minded people) are a major headache for the likes of Tesco. :rotfl:0 -

Well, it's only ketchup so no biggie but - just to offer a different view in case anyone is still undecided on giving it a try - I like it.
Only use a small dollop on egg & chips etc kinds of meals (or yummy hot dogs) but really don't notice much difference from any other ketchup I've tried. And it's really cheap, natch!0
