Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Aldi's buys for me are:
I want to try continental plum crumble tart, but it's big, have resisted so far, but with Easter coming up, it's on my list. Yummy.
Its lovely..
Had Aldi's Tiramisu and pecan roulade and they fab was well. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Some do, some don't, it seems to depend on the type of cereal.
One other curiousity with Aldi is that people often seem to leave empty cereal boxes (and not generally the damaged ones) behind in the packing area, I've never quite figured out why!
It could be those customers who have a brand fussy partner or child that will only eat the branded stuff and slip the inner bag into the branded box.
But I have noticed that Weetabix does have the name on the wrappers. I think another branded cereal has as well. Only buy the Choc Weetabix when its on offer. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
mcculloch29 wrote: »The Aldi premium mueslis are all wonderful imo - these are the ones in the Dorset Cereals type boxes for £1.59, 500g, berry, nut and exotic varieties. They often have the tops open - annoyingly - as the cardboard tear strips make the tops fragile, but the bags inside are sealed, so they are safe to buy.
The luxury muesli (purple bag, 750g) is very good too.
Following the mention of Heron Foods by dandelionclock30, here is a thread I started on good buys from Heron/Farmfoods.
If the contents is sealed, there is nothing wrong with a ripped box! I put any muesli in a cereal pourer. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Takes up less room?Stompa0

I always try to go into Lidl at the weekends, some offers are just brilliant, mostly veg. I always try to get the XL bags of onions and tatties, especially if on offer.

At Lidl, I really like the in store bakery section, particularly the cheese topped rolls. I'm also keen on several of their deluxe products.
At Aldi, I love the seasonal fruit crush drinks which have just made an appearance in the stores within the last couple of weeks, and am also rather partial to their American style ice cream.0 -
Hi not necessarily a good/bad buy but I bought one of the fruit trees aldi were selling a couple of months ago and wondered if any else had had problems with them? I bought the Braeburn apple variety and planted it as the instructions suggested but I still seem to have a rather dormant looking tree! I know a few people on here (or it might have been another thread) said how good threes were from aldi, however I think I might have picked a dud. Any suggestions? Sorry if this isn't really in the right thread but any help is appreciated
thanks

I'm not sure yet if they are really good but they are certainly cheaper than a garden centre. I had a mislabled crab apple - I did definitely buy an eating apple but don't remember where from (L 0r A). Most of the trrees did survive so far, so good.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0
