No! Quite the opposite. I'm thinking about people who might invent a baby simply because it's useful to have the paperwork for an entire fictitious life. An additional birth certificate, passport, driving licence etc. for someone who doesn't exist? Imagine the possibilities - all nefarious of course!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

When you register a birth do you have to take your baby with you as proof? After all, there could be massive fraud opportunities in creating a completely fictitious person so surely they don't just take your word for it...?
No you don't have to take your baby with you when you register. My Daughter was in hospital for 13 weeks so would have been impossible to take her! You should get a printout from the hospital when you have your baby that you take with you when you register. Even if you forget it, you can still register as they have all the info on the computer.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I'm sure I've read somewhere recently (though cannot find the reference at the moment so may have imagined it) that if the birth is unattended (i.e. you give birth at home without a midwife/other qualified professional) you have to present the baby when you register the birth.
As a random piece of trivia, in 1987 ~7 million 'children' disappeared on the 15th April in the US when the IRS changed the rules to say that a social security number had to be provided for each child who someone was claiming tax breaks for rather than the previous system of just taking the 'parents' word that they had a child.0 -
Yay for good scans Emsbet and Kitten, boo for annoying grannies/MILs etc
Not had a very nice day today, but was my own stupid fault. Had a dentist appt this pm, was also DDs (first) so off we toddle in to town with MIL. All of a sudden, I really don't know how, I was on the floor, on my knees thank God, but I just went down. Got up and tried to brush it off, but by the time I got sat in the dentist chair (after DD had her teeth done- she did really well and got a tinkerbell sticker) I burst in to tears and started crying and shaking. They must have thought I was a right loon. I did tell them what had happened and they took pity on me and got me a drink and left me for a minute or two. I haven't fallen over for years, didn't think it would shake me up so much!
I now have a nice big lump on my knee and a whole in my favourite maternity jeans- luckily MIL is a whizz with a sewing machine so is going to turn them into shorts for me.
Aiming to finish the first draft of my assignemtn tonight, but may sneak off for a magnum in the meantime...........Boots: £107.xx on AC :j

Evening all, just had a quick read back. Thanks for all the lovely messages.
Jovi, I've updated this morning's list with your new date.
Kitten, glad all went well and good to see you're still flying the flag for team pink in SeptemberDo you want putting on the list or would you like to wait a while longer?
Gemma, glad your ok now. Did you faint or did your legs just give way?!
LMM thanks for the Tesco information.
((hugs)) to everyone with not so sweet grandmothers or MILs.
We've had a really busy day after we got back from the hospital we went to ikea. We bought this chest of drawers and this chair but with a different cover. I wanted the rocking chair but it won't fit in the baby's room so I've got this which bounces. I'm not 100% sure if it'll fit yet but we'll see. We then went to Babies R Us and got this cot. We've built the chest of drawers and the cot and they look fabDH has gone to play football so I'm having a nice sit down
