Laura hope the new prescription boosts your iron. Can you take that and the multivitamin together?

GP has prescribed me 192mg of iron a day!!! crazy, taking that much iron will interfer with absorption of zinc which is really important for babys growth. ( i have a degree in nutrition and feel really frustrated by the advice i have received today)

i called and spoke with a midwife at the practice to check if she felt i could continue to take my multivit and the prescribed iron from my GP (i didnt know at the time the ridiculous level they had prescribed me) she said there was no need to take my multivit anymore as i wouldnt need folic acid anymore (maybe not to protect against spina bifida as this is early in pregnancy, but adequate folate levels are needed for iron absorption) she said that vitamin D wasnt that important to take anyway (which makes me mad as vitamin D is vitally important to take in pregnancy and when breastfeeding)

anyway i am mad, there are not many things i am passionate about but nutrition is one of them.

therefore i am going to continue to take my multi vit with one other iron tablet (64mg) and increase iron foods in my diet.

rjn - i brought my ball from tkmax for £10 , its a really good quality one. make sure you buy the right size for your height.

have felt quite tired today and sore back so was pleased to finish work, bring on the weekend when i am shopping in nottingham with a friend

i love superhero stuff - went to see the avengers the other night, really enjoyed it although did get a bit of a headache with watching it in 3D

ailzee - hope things have progressed and baby is on its way

a woman at works daughter just gave birth to her third child - she stayed at home till near the end and was too late to have anykind of pain relief when she got to hospital, labour was only 4 hours though.

lots of babies - means moving up the list which is scary

Hi everyone, just wanted to tell somebody the results of our 20 week scan earlier today. Very healthy and normal, we are very happy!
We found out the sex and we're keeping it a secret from family & friends so I'm dying to tell you guys..... It's a boy! we're shocked as we thought it was a girl!

Congratulations Milliebob -am I to take it that you are another September due date? Wow the boys are ruling September - wonder if this means that I'll be team blue tomorrow when I have my scan?

Good luck for tomorrow sexymouse, theres lots of boys for September.

I'm hoping to have my scan in 3 weeks when I'm 22 weeks and I think we are having a girl seeing as baby likes Rihanna and not daddy's horrible dubstep music lol. Everyone else thinks it's a girl too. I won't mind if it's a boy though. Happy either way

Thanks ikkle - I have a feeling this one's a boy too, but will be pleasantly surprised if they say it's a girl - Moon says he is happy either way as long as it's healthy, but I think he'd prefer a boy really. I must admit I do prefer all of the boys' clothing around at the moment though.

Went to Aldi today after a rather disasterous morning - was meant to be working all day, but got out to the car to find it wouldn't start. The supply agency had to get someone else to cover my only day of work this week, and unfortunately nothing came in for this afternoon. Moon managed to jump start the car this morning (4 days without use meant the battery didn't charge and was obviously low as had to jumpstart it the other week), and I went straight to Halfords. Cost me nearly £80 as there was only one battery that fitted my car, so I didn't really have any options.

On the plus side, it meant that I was able to go to Aldi to take advantage of their baby event. The cellular blankets didn't seem to be particularly good quality (someone had unrolled one), so I gave that a miss. I bought the white fleece blanket (not particularly practical, but I guess stains can be bleached if they get really bad?), the first size body suits (twin pack of one plain yellow and one cream one with a cat and a dog on the front), the first size sleepsuits (one plain yellow, one cream with a cat on, one cream with a dog on), the white hooded baby towel (has a bear embroidered on it - same as the blanket), and the muslins (3 pack - 2 plain white, one with bear pattern). The muslins don't seem that great visually (although I'm not really an expert and haven't got them out of the packet yet or washed them), but I thought they would do. I didn't bother with any of the bottles etc, as I want to get the MAM anti-colic starter set as I heard they are meant to be really good. (I hope to breastfeed, but you never know, and these are meant to be good for combination feeding etc).

Moon and I are off to Southampton after the scan so that we can go to the big Babies r Us and try the pushchairs etc out. We can also pop into Ikea to look for white bedroom furniture to go in the nursery to match the cot then too, as well as primark for towels etc.

For anyone looking for a dark-coloured nightie with buttons on, Asda have one on their website at the mo that looks cute - £10 may be a bit expensive though if they take it off you - still it's nice for afterwards.
