My little Muffin is hiccuping yet again. Do you think it's my propensity for cornettos alternated with gherkins that's setting her off?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Oops I just slept from 11-1. Haha! Now for some lunch. OH will be home in an hour or so.
Miss Money - love the look of that book! May buy it for hubbys bday which is in a few weeks. Would be a jokey pressie but I' sure we'd both find it quite handy!0 -
NEWSFLASH. I have some actual energy. I'm gutting my bedroom. Filled a suitcase with clothes that don't fit already. Tho also filled two washing baskets eek
:T That's exciting! Feel free to send some energy my way if you find you have more than you know what to do withDon't overdo it though - I find nesting is at its most effective when interspersed with tea, biscuits and naps

Miss Money I've seen that book before it has got some great bits in and is quite funny in places. Least he's showing an interest in the baby. Might get one for OH's bday. He's little experience of children, mainly I think hes an only child and not many friends have babies. Where as I've quite a few nieces and nephews and very close to my sisters two ( was her "birthing partner" even though was elective c section with DS). He did ask once when visiting a baby "do you have to wash it every day."

I've just been in bed watching Chinese cooking on the food channel, making me very hungryOH said he was getting up about 2 hours ago, but has been snoring since lol. Ive got him on one side and the cat on my belly also snoring.
On the plus my boss is back from her hols and said I could do the last assessment needed to finish my degreeshe's talking about me going on maternity leave at 28 weeks but I'm sure the policy says if you're off sick due to pregnancy related things you go automatically at 36 weeks do will have too look ino that. Still have about five weeks hols too so we'll have to see. Don't really want to waste maternity leave, she also thinks very unlikely they'll be able o plce me anywhere else so I have tried to be useful:o

Hello all, sorry for not posting sooner, the last week has been a bit of a whirlwind of nappies, washing and trying to think of a name!
Our baby boy was born last week on the 30th. I was hoping for a May baby but on during the early hours of the 30th though we should start getting things going so had a bit of fun in the bedroom but it worked too well! A few hours later my contractions started, I tried denying it but having been through it before I knew exactly what it was. Feeling annoyed that I hadn't had enough time to prepare I dived in the shower at 6am to shave my legs! When I got out I told OH what was happening and he promptly went back to sleep so I had to kick him out of bed! I went to the toilet, had a show and emptied my bowels - a good sign I'm getting close - so got OH to ring the hospital. They were handing over at 7:30am so told me not to come in until 8 but I knew I was getting close so told OH we were going without even having breakfast. Got to the hospital at 7:45 and had to wait until they finished handover. They didn't believe I could be close because I was so calm. With each contraction I was just closing my eyes and imaging a wave rushing in and out of my body and counting to thirty which was how long my contractions lasted. I also told myself that I was opening up down below and kept walking around so gravity would help baby move down. They asked me if I would be happy to go home if I wasn't far enough along but knowing my body I said 'lets just examine me first then decide' but they still didn't believe me and disappeared. Then the contractions intensified and I got OH to call them back. They wanted me to lie on my back so they could examine me but I was so close to pushing at this point that I couldn't lie on my back. Eventually I got on my knees and they had a look and said I was 8-9cm. At this point I was kneeling on the bed and they got me a birthing ball to lean on - I have to say I was in love with that ball - it was so comforting to hug, rest on, and rotate a bit, helping ease baby down and they also got me some gas and air so I didn't feel the sting so much. One midwife wanted to move me to the birthing room - I was still in the triage room - but the other said, 'if we move her now she will have the baby in the corridor!' It was then only a few more pushes in between which I focused on totally relaxing, which I think helped open things up, until baby was out. Only four hours in total and 20 minutes of pushingThen I stripped off my top (hadn't had time before) to give my lovely boy his first cuddle and it was the most wonderful experience. Shortly after that it looked like my placenta was coming out (I didn't have the injection to get it out so we were just waiting) and after a small push out it came and OH got to cut the cord. The midwives gave us an hour to cuddle and have a breastfeed then I had to have three stitches which were mostly cosmetic. A quick shower then they moved me to the ward to recover. We had to stay in over night because baby pooed on the way out and they wanted to check him for 24 hours but it was nice to rest and make sure everything was ok. I had forgotten about after pains and had to ask the midwife for some paracetamol for them but they only lasted a few days.
It was the most amazing experience, better than the first time as I was so much more with it due to it being quicker and me being less tired and knowing what to expect. I had some energy sweets with me and lucozade which I think helped especially since I had missed breakfast. The day I got out of hospital I was able to go for a walk round the park which was good as it was the only sunny day we've had since he was born!
I hope more of you get to have a similar amazing experience, I can still vividly remember the last two pushes and the total high that created.
And now we have to decide on the name. We've got it down to Brody, Theo and Nathan but still can't decide!Mum to DD born Oct 2009

Congratulations Jenny, sounds like you had a great birth experience. I will up date the list later because our Internet is down and I'm on my phone (unless anyone else wants to do it
). How much did little man weigh? I think all three are lovely names and I can see why you are having trouble choosing one
