I've got a few baby sleeping bags in 1 and 2.5 togs - just annoying I can't use them yet because she's woken up a few times last night having kicked her blanket off completely! Quite why she feels an inability to sleep without having her legs at a 90 degree angle perpendicular to the mattress on her moses basket is beyond me.

In other news - we'd gone 3-4 days without a poo and I was getting very worried... clever little girlie saved poomageddon for daddy's nappy change!

Dog vet bill came to over £400 - painful! Have put a pet insurance claim in (first time I've ever had to claim on it) - otherwise for once hubby's annual bonus doesn't go on car repairs but on dog repairs.

Oh and my breast pump appears to be giving up the ghost - after only a couple of weeks - have sent shirty email to Avent complaining!

In other news - went shopping - mainly to stock up on 3-6 month aged basics (pretty sorted out in the other age ranges at the moment)... got a tonne of babygros and stuff, and some leggings and other outfitty stuff (I prefer leggings under dresses to baby tights at the moment) and then got some really nice dresses reduced in Debenhams (they seem to have a lot of stuff in that's NOT pink - and I've got a massive weakness for things like bright red pinafore dresses).
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!

Thanks for the knowledge ladies :)

We could so make an MSE book of pregnancy and baby advice :)

    xx

I have a nice 2.5 tog one I will send with that stuff Emsbet. Aaron doesn't like them, he needs to be properly tied down to sleep. Arms and legs swaddled in! It's ridiculous x

Laura - I have taken to listening to classic FM in the car as I’m sure it’s good for baby. I also play the flute in a local amateur band and at this week’s rehearsal every time we stopped playing he started kicking like mad as if to say “don’t stop”!

natwesty - congratulations on the birth of Megan. It sounds like you have been through the mill a bit but I’m glad to hear you are both okay now.

kelda - woo-hoo for being on mat leave. I can’t wait until I can start mine...

Catbag - twins and you have 3 already? Blimey ! Welcome to the thread.

Also welcome to nutella and hannah and anyone else I have missed.

Miss_money - sorry about your OH being such a pain. Here, have a (((hug))). Hope he comes back grovelling on his hands and knees when he realises he’s out of order.

flutterby_lil - oh my goodness, your poor little girl. Thinking of you and hoping she gets better soon. Thanks for the warning about leaking waters.

Emsbet - glad you are feeling wriggles again. It is a worry when they don’t move for a bit. I have anterior placenta but still seem to feel him moving loads. But then he’ll have a quiet period and I have to tell myself it’s too early to worry and he’s either having a rest or hiding.

Oooh, I didn’t know baby sleeping bags were recommended until they reach 10lbs. I had been assuming we could use them straight away. Better have a rethink.

I popped into a charity bookshop today and found a copy of What to Expect - The First Year for £3.50. I had been meaning to order it from Amazon so was chuffed to find it at such a bargain price. Also got a pregnancy Pilates book for £1.50.

Oh, and I also got a Kelly Holmes gym ball from Tesco reduced from £15 to £3.50. Thought I could use it as a birthing ball.

Sorry for massive post - there's been a lot to catch up on again!

I'm going for the tied down approach too. I've got a swaddle bag (anyone used one? Good? Bad?) plus I'm going to tuck in the blankets really tight and then use luggage straps or something over the top. There's no way that baby's escaping!

No problem. I bought it brand new from M&P and it's never been used, put it on him once and he hated it. May try it again, but doubtful for reasons explained below.

We use the Summer Swaddleme blankets, you can get them from mothercare online and amazon. They are great, but A - some babies don't like to be swaddled, at all. or B your baby may love it like ours, but right now we're trying to wean him out of it, he doesn't like being swaddled anymore, but because he's so used to be being tied up :o he keeps waking himself up by whacking himself in the face (males aren't very bright) because he's not used to his arms being out. So if you go down that route I'd maybe not swaddle for daytime naps or something to get them used to it.

Why do you need to wean them out of it?

Also started sorting out clothes she's near growing out of - none of the stated weights apply to her as she's so long-limbed... integrated scratch mitts are pointless when the sleeves end above her wrists, so we're finally out of the early baby boring white babygros, and the premature sized vesties are almost at the end of their limits - thankfully the stuff me and daddy bought was mostly tiny baby size so still fits fairly well - but some newborn stuff's starting to fit her now as well. No idea what I'm going to do with stuff she's outgrown - haven't got the heart to put it on freecycle or get rid of it, but realistically can't see me ever needing stuff for a 4lb baby again to be honest.

All my beautifully organised drawers and we're still living off a pile of slightly smaller than newborn things on the top of them!

I really need to quit my weakness for the baby Jasper Conran stuff in Debenhams though - MIL's fault she bought us some as their newborn stuff was really small fitting - and it's sooooo soft and cuddly... so went in there today and got the cutest navy dress for a couple of months down the line. Like I say - I love stuff that's not pink... although a substantial amount of pink HAS crept into her wardrobe despite my stated intentions (and even daddy's cracked and said he loves some of it).
