Putting me off having a baby...!

In all seriousness, though, it's good to talk about this sort of thing, cos can you imagine if you had no idea this would happen - you'd go to the loo after having a baby, or get in the shower, and think you were dying!!
It's really good isn't it? My SIL didn't know anything about lochia. She told me it really shocked her, she didn't have any jamrags or anything because she had no idea she'd bleed after giving birth. And she's married to a paediatrician fgs! You'd have thought he might mention something!
When I asked him (my brother) why he didn't say anything he looked at me blankly and said 'God, we're not interested in the mothers. Just the babies. The mothers can be looked after by midwives and whatnot. Doctors just want to get their hands on the babies!'."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I can imagine. I'm not phased by it at all though if I get my LO live and healthy at the end of it

I had no idea, although the midwife let me know so it wasn't a huge surprise. I had only taken panty liners with me which I assumed was for the waters rather than blood.
Thought I had loads of time to read up on it, only watched OBEM the day before. This time I think I know roughly what will happen but just going to hope someone keeps me informed and go with the flow.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Hi ladies... Hope everyone's well ... Sorry to interrupt this 'bloody' conversation ... But was wondering what your choices were on car seats?
Having finished the nursery,my mind has now moved to car seats and I've set my head spinning googling them for the last few days.
We were kindly given an iCandy apple pushchair and my first thought was to get the maxi cosi (Cabrio is the one that fits I think) baby car seat to click onto it.
The money saver in me though is thinking its going to be quite costly.. The seat is £100+... Then I'd need adapters to fit the pushchair which are £30.. Then OH likes the idea of a clicky base instead of using seatbelts which is easily another £100...and baby might only be comfy in it for 6mth!
I started looking at the group 0+ 1 I think they are called.. The ones from birth to 4yrs but there's only a handful of decent models and none seem to have rave reviews.. They work out a bit cheaper at about £150 ish but would last longer too.
I like the Britax first plus but most of comments say seatbelt gets in way when u put baby in.
My main priority has to be a comfy baby.. We regularly drive 2.5 hours to visit family which could be longer if stuck in traffic and Im not keen on baby being squished in a little car seat.
Any recommendations would be greatly received before my head explodes!0 -
The lady shop assistants in Boots/ Mothercare are very helpful with sheepish looking dad's trying to find the right product. I sent mine twice and he didnt even bother to look but just went up to a kind looking shop assistant and asked her advice. It works even better when you send Dad and baby out to shop.....they always fussed over him and baby:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I bought 2 of these from Kiddicare last year. Gave them both to my mum and don't know what she has done with them, whether she gave them away or still has them. I will check closer to the time.

Jen,
I got the Maxi Cosi cabriofix, as it's the only (decent) one which fits onto my pushchair. However, we've decided not to get the easyfix base, as it's really not that difficult to strap the seat in using the seatbelt. Plus I don't like seeing babies being traipsed around the shops for hours on end in their carseats, so I'm not planning to take the car seat in and out of the car all that often anyway.
Having said that, if we end up doing so more often than expected, we can always buy the base later! I know what you mean though - does seem v v expensive!
