Lou Kazade noticed a sale in GAP on the Grabbit board. There's a few maternity bits, but not many sizes.
This is nice though
http://www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=73115&vid=1&pid=907307
Hopefully there'll be more stock in store. I hope to have a look in Belfast Gap some time this week0 -
Gin - I love hearing all your news so you write as much as you like! Hope your LO's are out soon and home with you!
Bellola - I;m coming up to 21 weeks and haven't really felt anything yet! Had some sensations last week but it seems to have gone quiet over the last couple of days. trying not to owrry cos baby was a right wriggler on the scan last wek and I keep reading that first time Mums may not feel baby move until 23 weeks. Have my next appt with midwife next Tues so will have a chat with her about it then.
Amymo - OOOOoooooooooo! Flapjacks! I really want some now, I made oat and raisin cookies last week and Oh and I sat and munched three each whilst they were still warm! They would have been lovely with a bit of vanilla ice-cream as well!
Emsbet - sausage in batter and chips sounds awesome, but then I always fancy chippy-chips and pizza! I am a fiend for both of those things so I am amazed that I have literally just turned down the offer of a dominos as my colleague is ordering in pizza for lunch! I really want it, but I've got a nice healthy salad to look forward to! Maybe I'll get chips tonight......0 -
All of my trousers/skirts/leggings are too tight now and dig in really badly, so I need the maternity ones even though I'm not properly showing yet. (and I cleared out all my size 18s when I slimmed out of them last year, curses!) I got a pair of maternity jeans from M&P yesterday (comfiest things ever
) and I've just ordered some leggings from ASOS, but I think i'm going to need at least one more pair of jeans. Has anyone ordered any maternity bits from ASOS? How does the sizing come up?

Back from MW appointment with a bit of a rant
All is seemingly well with me and baby so no worries there. Rant is this: Since start of my pregnancy I have had 7 MW appointments and at 5 of them have seen completely different MW's. I would not normally be bothered about this as the care/advice given is supposedly standard across the board so I suppose it should not really matter. HOWEVER at my last three appointments, they have done the fundas measurements and the results have been as follows:
29 weeks: measured 26
32 weeks: measured 31
34 weeks: measured 31.5
I was a bit concerned baby didn't seem to have grown since the last appointment at 32 weeks and MW said 'oh, don't worry about that - we all measure it differently'.... She then proceeded to write in my notes that growth has dropped this week and needs to be checked by the consultant in two weeks.... Can someone please explain what the point is of doing the measurement if it is not going to be standardised? The first two MW's measured over the centre of the bump however, todays measured down the side...
Now I know that fundas measurement is known to be a highly inefficient method of measuring baby growth as there are so many things that can affect it - position of baby etc so I am not so concerned about that but I do think it would help if all the MW's measured in the same way - surely it doesn't make sense to make a pregnant woman worry unnecessarily just because everyone has their own way of doing things??
Am also slightly annoyed that as I was leaving MW said 'oh, we won't see you again now, as its your second baby we would normally see you at 40 weeks and you won't get there due to c-section'. I mean, she just told me that according to her measurements my baby is not growing as fast as would be expected then told me I didn't need another appointment... what is with that :mad:
She was also quite rude...
That's all, rant over0 -
It is hard not be able to hold them, but I can't even describe how hard it is to leave the hospital without them! I was discharged last night, and my eyes are looking like the cross buns with swelling.
Seems I have missed one quote, someone asked about Italian influence. Yes, OH is Italian. But it was me who chose Emilio. It was either Emilio or Emilia, but we couldn't agree on any boys names, so he became Emilio.
We are pronouncing it 'My-ah', as that is how it would be pronounced back home by my family and by his in Italy. OH decided that he misspelled the name, and it would be better Maja, as that how it would be in his and my languages really. But I don't really care. I think one thing that she will have to learn, that people will pronounce it in different ways and there is nothing to get hung up about. Even now in hospital, different nurses pronounce it different way and I am fine with that. My own name is pronounced here in so many different ways, that as long as it resembles something and I can recognise it, I don't care. It is not easy for people to deal with all those foreign names, is it?
So here we go. I am back home, babies are in hospital and are going to stay there for a while. It was the hardest thing to leave them there and go home, but there was not going to be a different way. They will be staying for a god few weeks, I think they have a rule that the babies have to reach certain weight, which is 2500g, and yesterday Maya was 1680g (she lost quite a bit of weight since the birth) and Emilio 1880g. They both had to go under the lights for jaundice, then the lights were switched off and they were fine for a couple of days, then had to go back under. We are not concerned about this - they are premature, and they need to 'learn' lots of things still!
We did have them out for cuddles, Emilio came out one evening on his own, and as soon as he was put on me he started looking for food, so had a go at breast. He didn't have a proper fed, but he loves holding onto breast, and don't try taking it away from him!
Then next evening we had them both out together and held them both together for the first time ever. It was amazing. They seemed to like each other so much, that the monitors were showing the same heart beat and respiration for both of them! They had a nice sleep on me for a while. Over the next days they both had more goes at breast, and even thought they are born when these reflexes are not yet developed, they keep having a go, which is amazing. The only problem - my milk. I was set up with the pump, and unfortunately I was being 'put down the list' of importance, and only was finally shown how to connect it and use it the following morning 24 hours after giving birth. For the first two days the milk was basically nonexistent. I kept pumping, but there would only be a drop at each breast and wouldn't even reach the bottle. Things are slightly improving, and I am getting about 15ml now from both breast in one session. The only thing is that it is still not enough to fully feed the twins, as they are on two hourly feeds of 24ml and 25ml each. So they are given what I get and then supplemented by formula via the tube in their nose.
I will write down the birth one of these 'milking' sessions, you will be bored to bits. And I will put more experiences from my hospital stay, but I better finish this post now, as it is already so long! So, I hope you don't mind if I just pop out of the blue once in a while and tell random things. Just scroll through my posts or put me on ignore list!
Any news from Dashikii yet? I haven't managed to catch up with the 20 pages yet...
Givinst - nice to see you popping in and I'm glad the twins are doing well and trying to latch on. :T0 -
((hugs)) Jovi, it does seem rubbish of them. Hopefully the consultant should give you some clearer information.
Littlemoog I've not bought any ASOS clothes sorry.
Missmonkeymoo, sausage in batter does sound yum but unfortunately (or fortunately depending in how you look at it) there aren't any nice chippies near us!

Thanks Emsbet, have calmed down a bit now - just had an aero mousse and that seems to have done the trick!
MW even told me off when I got in there as there was another pg lady waiting when I got there who was 20 something weeks and had been contracting all morning... when MW opened door and called me, I let other lady go in ahead of me as hers was clearly more of an emergency than my check up - I got told I should not have done that as I do not get to make decisions about who she sees and when... I think she was maybe having a bad day0 -
She sounds like a bit of a cowbag! I'm lucky I've seen the same midwife so far and she's nice.
Aero mousse, yum! Was it the mint one? I can't stop eating today, I had two cheese and ham toasties, a mini trifle and a toffe crisp bar for my lunch:o

Hi All,
Thought it was probably about time I joined this thread, there is only so long I can carry on with the less than 12 week thread especially now I am about 20 weeks (not sure on exact times)
Had a mw appointment yesterday and heard the heartbeat. Bit of a stressful weekend, we went to a memorial service for our boys which brought all emotions to the surface. I now have on my notes that I am tearful but copingDidn't help that for the last two days I have been sobbing even when walking to the bank and at the hospital. I just can't seem to stop at the moment.
The further along I get the less I am managing to stay sane. I am also starting to have problems walking which doesn't help with the getting out and about.
Sorry for the long introduction message. Hope everyone else is bearing up. I will try to be less self involved next timeOverdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500
