Thanks, happydays. OH is being supportive, he can't really do much to cheer me up, nothing can. I will get used to this new state of travelling between home and hospital. We will bed to workout how we dothis as well, as I think we will get parking for on car for free, but as we live half an hour from hospital and hospital is more o less on the way to/from work for OH (another 20-30 min), it sounds silly for me go home, for OH to go home from work, so the. We can take one car with us to go to the hospital. All these things millwork themselves out though.
I have to be in hospital at about 11am this morning for the postnatal check - the midwife suggested that instead of the midwife coming out to see me at home, it might be more convenient for me to attend the clinic in the hospital. And she is right - I would hate sitting in the house and waiting for someone to see me, when I am hoping to get to the hospital.
Oh, and the checks reminded me something I wanted to share. Maternity towels. Ihad some Boots ones and once isaw them cheaper at Mothercare bought two packs of those as well. While on delivery suite I was given the hospital ones, and actually helped my self to a couple when leaving the delivery suite to the maternity ward. So, the Mothercare ones are thick, etc, have wings, so fel safer, but think one reason why my stitches were hurting me so much are them! Yes, they are absorbent, but there is some dampness remaining, and it was making the stit he's more sore. Unfortunately, I have some 'external' ones, going sort of diagonally to one side of my bump, and there is nothin else I can do but sit on them. When towards the end of the first pack of Mothercare ones, decided to use the Boots ones for the daytime (as no wings) and the M ones for the night. And I was feeling so much better that day! The B ones felt softer and kinder, they also felt dry on the top. Could actually walk to the main hospital for a coffee with our only visitors on Sunday and back and still was ok. Another days just the walk from maternity ward to neonatal ward (which is directly upstairs, and I always used the lift) but the second half of the day was agony. Even the hospital ones were much nicer than M ones to my bottom...
One night my painkillers were late, even with me going asking for them and I was in such a pain, that I had a proper crying and sobbing attack, and the midwife who was coming to sort out my medications for over an hour decided to become my 'best friend' chatting and asking about the babies when was sobbing full sound and just wanted together her out of my room. So - another tip. Even if you think you can cope with the pain for now, take the painkillers if they are offered, you have no idea when the next round comes. And knave never been keen on taking pills, with the worst headaches I often just use do bear them and so on, but this time, anything on offer when down my throat.
The other item - hospital bath. I loved it. There was one just across the corridor from my room, and on Thursday I decided to try it out. The net thing my OH was told that want that bath. Ok, the bath of that size. I could literally float. Ok, but that is not what I was going to say. It is the Lavender Oil. Midwives have it in our hospital and can give you some for the bath, which you then add a little bit of milk to it so that it helps the oil 'to sink' instead of floating on top. And the lavender one is very soothing and knave to say,for a couple of hours after I couldn't even feel my stitches when walking around and sitting down. It was heaven. I am off to Boots before the hospital to get some maternity towels and Lavender oil. Our bath at home is nothing like the hospital one, but I am sure I am going to use it for its purpose these days.
Ok, better get shower as the next milking session is in half an hour.
I told you can talk for the nation - being in hospital for the full 7 days with no Internet access does strange things to you.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

So I was right. Bloody awful sleep. Got a full day at Uni too. My back is so stiff as are my hips and I really struggle to walk up stairs. Soooooooo sleepy today. Just can't be bothered. Have a four hour guided revision session now then patients this afternoon. I fear I may need a lunchtime nap
glad your babies doing well hun. Wot be long till u get them home
Re the movement. It's a bit later when u begin to notice more regular movement. More towards 24 weeks. One of my friends was worried and went to hospital ad thu said baby had turned and was back out so she was getting kicked In placenta and couldn't feel it. If you are really worried I'm sure te hospital would be understanding if you wanted a quick check xxxlove you lots like jelly tots0 -
Lovely to hear from you gin. I'm sorry you've had to leave the babies in hospital but as you have said its for the best for them. Please keep posting if you want, I too like to read them and if anyone's miserable enough to put you on ignore for posting that's their problem not yours. Take care of yourself
Bellola, like happy said at this stage movements can still be errattic. I was told by the midwife not to worry about counting movements until 28 weeks because baby is still small enough that they can get into posiitons you can't feel as much. Do you know where your placenta is? Mine is anterior and the movements I feel don't seem to have progressed from the bubble popping stage (although they are getting stronger) and I think it's because I'm more feeling "aftershocks" of the movements rather than the movements themselves IYSWIM, especially as at my scan they said baby was scrunched up at the top of my uterus yet all the movements I've felt have been really low down. If you are really worried it can't hurt to call the midwives even for just some reassurance, they won't think your an idiot, they understand that it can be a stressful time.

Gin - with the discharge criteria it's worth checking out. I know with Erin it wasn't weight (they discharged her at 2.21kg) as such it was that she'd fed fully independently of the nose tube for 24 hours - and that her weight had either held stable or gained at the weigh-in that morning... felt like some kind of reverse Biggest Loser going on with me crossing everything that she'd gained... and since she started gaining (she lost for one weigh-in after birth I think and started gaining pretty quickly) - she ain't blooming stopped! She's went through the 5lb barrier and I think she was either 5-2 or 5-3 yesterday.
We did a lot of chasing the bilirubin treatment line as well (we still are - there's the possibility of readmission looming over us) - she was under for about 3 days, then on 6 and then 12 hourly bloods as her levels bounced back up towards the treatment levels, then levelled out (but the line moved up so the gap in reality widened) and they still can't make their minds up about if she's jaundiced again now!
As for leaving them - our hospital keeps mums in (no choice in the matter lol) until their babies are discharged - I've got my own opinions on this - the way they do it is pretty ineffectual and smacks to me of not wanting to employ sufficient staff, but it did mean I didn't have that huge wrench of leaving her - when she was down in special care I was often found down there at 5am myself when I couldn't sleep... I still think making someone stay on a maternity ward without their own baby is cruel - but who's gonna listen to that one? I did hit utter utter breaking point though after a week and a half - and we got MIL to come in and sit with her and one of the staff to help with the next tube feed - just so I could escape for a while... we went clothes shopping because, daft as it sounds, with her coming so prematurely and unexpectedly - the only clothes she had were ones that other people had picked for her - and I was desperate to put MY little girl in something *I* had chosen for her... then we went home to see my dogs - and, however much I needed to get away from that ward by then, I felt guilty every second I was away... was no way I would have left her without MIL though - because when you do that (people have to duck out to register births etc) they just shove the cot in a side room beside the nurses station and I didn't want to think of her crying too quietly for them to hear her.
If the midwives are aromatherapy nuts (our hospital are - to the extent they were offering me aromatherapy in labour when I'd been waiting for pethedine for 3 1/2 hours and I didn't reply very politely!) - then one of the staff at ours recommended jasmine for milk production and put some on a cloth for me to sniff while I did my Daisy the Dairy Cow impression for the afternoon... don't know if it worked - but it made my cubicle smell nice at least!
I had one utter gem midwife who usually did the night shift - she'd had a baby come prematurely and gone through the same flawed transition care system - so she knew what it was like, and she knew exactly what they were looking for to send us home... she was an absolute angel - and she'd even do things like check the shift rosters for me to reassure me the utter monster woman wasn't going to be on for a few days... kind of regret we got sent home the afternoon of the night she was next on shift so I didn't get to say goodbye properly to her really.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Will agree on the Boots maternity pads, they are bliss! Like little pillows of heaven! :happyhearThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Morning ladies
I've just moved over to the 12-24 week thread, but it seems very quiet so I thought I'd pop over here and say hi too(like I haven't been lurking for months
)
Emsbet, can I go on the list please? EDD 13/11/12, team yellow (and will be staying yellow!)Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Dizzy, thank you so much. I know hospital stay is mot the most pleasant, and I was offered to stay another day or two, but I decided to cut it all and go, as otherwise I would have been crying with the prospect of leaving them there. Most of the midwiveswere lovely, apart from the weekend nightshift. Ohara room on my own, and although I could hear the babies around, it did not bother me too much - at least I wasn't stuck in a room with 3 other mums and their babies.
Emilio and Maya are still in incubators and not clothed apart from their nappies. I will need quite a few more of the micro nappies, and they are not offer that much these days.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
