Well nothing has happened as yet so unless little one decides to make an appearance overnight then I am off to be induced in the morning. A bit scared but also excited to meet baby and pleased that the end is finally in site.
Thank you for all the supportive posts everyone, there are times when this thread has kept me sane!
I may be able to update you all from the hospital but depends how things progress and how long it all takes.
Hopefully I will be able to share baby news with you all soon.
Hugs and luck to everyone

Good luck!!0 -
Happy birthday Elelyn!
Re: Braxton Hicks like Jovi, my whole tummy feels tighter, bump feels solid to the touch and I am more 'aware' of bump. Haven't been paying attention to how often though but at least a few times a day.
Well this is my last week at work... roll on Friday at 5pm.
In that time I have lots to pass over to colleagues a mock interview today and an assessment centre most of my last day on Friday (promotion board so I can apply for jobs at the grade up when I return from mat leave). So not the quieter week that I had envisioned!!0 -
My Stepdad has put a ban on my pregnancy. Sounds weird that. He's told mum she's not to talk about the baby or buy anything for the baby and that he doesn't want to know anything about the baby till it's born. Don't know what I can do to make him feel excited about the baby? It will be his first grandchild. Mums kinda ignoring him though and has been buying stuff in secret but i think it's pretty crap that she has to do that. I'm her only daughter and my brother is 14 so hopefully it will be a few years before he's having kids and he's stopping her being excited
that sounds mean... yes people can go into overkill and its all baby baby baby talk but surely you can talk about it a bit... boo to him!0 -
Can you talk to him at all about it Ikkle? If it's his first grandchild maybe he is feeling his age a bit? I know when I had DS my stepdad was a bit 'funny' throughout the pregnancy, turned out he started feeling old as his daughter was having a baby lol (he's been with my mum since I was younger and he is more of a dad to me than my biological dad). He was struggling to cope with the emotions and it came out as grumpiness lol I hope you get it sorted, your mum and you should be able to enjoy this special time together0

Well I got a call for work all day today at 8am - by 8.05am, it'd been cancelled. So, as my heartburn had been getting steadily worse over the weekend, despite taking the omeprazole that I was prescribed a month and a half ago, I decided to book an appointment with the doctor. I'm now home with a 500ml bottle of Gaviscon advanced, and having just had lunch, have taken my first dose. All I can say is YUCK!!! I don't think it's the flavour so much (I went for peppermint over the aniseed), but the texture is like thick PVA glue! Oh well, as long as it works, I suppose I'll just have to put up with it.
The sun is out here, and there is a slight breeze, so I've just put some bedding in the wash, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get it dried on the line this afternoon. I've also had a good scrub at the limescale in the bathroom this morning, and although I think it needs another couple of goes (we live in a very hard water area), it's looking decidedly better. Maybe my nesting instincts are kicking in now.
Happy Birthday to Elelyn. Hope you have a wonderful day, and enjoy your spa treatment.
Labour vibes for those who need or want them.

Omeprazole's a life saver but I also have to supplement it with some gaviscon now and then. I know what you mean about the texture! It's really gloopy. If you can't abide it, you can get chewable tablets instead although the liquid probably works better. You were right to go for the peppermint though, sm; the aniseed's revolting.
I'm not sure if I'm nesting or not, but some of my cleaning has focused on really odd things. Why the baby needs spotless grouting in the bathroom and a really clean under-the-sink cupboard is beyond me"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

That's a good price, I bought 3 packs of 3 when they were 3for2 at Mothercare, so cost me £29.99. Same price really.Congratulations Ladies on your new arrivals. A flurry of babies since i last signed on. Hope you're all well.
And Emsbet. Congrats on Team Blue.
On the bottles front, we've been using expressed milk in MAM and Nuby bottles, and they've both been great. Nuby are squeezy bottles so you can give LO a helping hand, and the MAM ones were fab for a weekend away - No steriliser needed.
Someone gave us 2 Blue Tommee Tippee Bottles, and the teat just keeps collapsing and squirting milk everywhere.
Also got a Suavenix bottle from Boots as a pressie, and it looks great and feeds good too. Pricey though.
Pramwise - We have a Mylo, and i absolutely love it. So easy to fold up, and goes down pretty flat too when folded. The car seat adaptor goes on and off dead easy, as does the car seat. We had a second hand one, but sold that to a friend and bought a new one as i want to keep it for future babies. Little man loves his carrycot, and we use that for daytime naps in the house, so i'd definitely recommend one.
And hospital wise. I'm one for coming home ASAP after birth. First baby - 12 hour discharge time and 2nd Baby - Just under 6 hours. Its just lovely to be in your own space, with your own bed and cups of tea on the go constantly.
And definitely take entertainment, OH and I were playing scrabble on the ipad while waiting for Propess to work :rotfl:
Little man is teething early, so sleepless nights last 2 nights, hence catching up on here.
Hope your induction goes well Charli.

Agree on MAM and MyloWhat colour did you buy? x

Well I'm on the bus back home thoroughly depressed! Next didn't have a maternity section, new look didn't have any over bump jeans and H&M made me want to cry
I'd forgotten that the sizes in there are small and I just couldn't get in them. I'm usually a 10-12 but as I said before I put on some weight at the back end of last year but my maternity trousers and jeans are all 10-12 but I couldn't even get in the 14 in there are my @ss and thighs are too fat
I'm going to order some from next online as I know what size fits me from there.
Meh!

This bit made me laugh - I got Moon to clean the grouting in our bathroom the other day whilst I was at work. I came home, and noticed he'd done it - most of it looked really good, but there were some tiles where the grouting was completely missing. I asked him what he'd used to clean it, and he admitted that he'd used the pressure washer that he uses for cleaning the cars! :eek:Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
I did nesting the lazy way - MIL came to stay (was planned about the same time - just moved it a few days when labour appeared) and cleaned the house about three times for me! Nesting by proxy - it's the way of the future!
Oh one to add to your baby shopping list that I genuinely hadn't thought of - some nice hand cream - my hands are utterly wrecked from constant hand washing and pulling stuff out of the steriliser... thankfully mum had got a mountain of Lush stuff cheap via one of the projects she's involved with so I've now got pots all over the house!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Sorry you had an unsuccessful shopping trip emsbet - I still haven't got any maternity jeans either, as I can't stand wearing under the bump clothes, as the one pair of maternity trousers I got that are under bump (work ones from New Look) seem to constantly need hoiking up throughout the day, unless I do the elastics up really tight, in which case I don't like the pressure it put on my tummy.
I think there must be a business opportunity here for someone to develop stylish but affordable maternity wear that has different leg lengths (everything I try is too long, and I'm not that small at 5ft5), and is designed for women that have a bottom and thighs, attractive but comfortable maternity bras that don't cost a fortune, as well as a heartburn medicine that doesn't make you want to be sick when you take it.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
