Great news that all went well LMM :)

I'm glad you're feeling brighter miss money :)

As it's a lovely day I'm going to head into Bolton for a wonder round and maybe buy myself one more pair of maternity jeans as two of the pairs I have don't fit (must have put on a bit of weight between losing Alex and getting pregnant again :o) and I don't have any smarter looking ones.
Got lots of sorting out to do in the house but I'm not wasting today's nice weather doing :)

    xx

  • Morning all, hope everyone is well today! Not been on the thread for a few days so will have to have a read through the posts later to catch up on all the news! not sure if anyone has posted this already, but askamum.com are looking for product testers for the Mother and Baby Awards. I've attached a link below - the link takes you to a competition but after that it asks if you want to test products. The only stipulation is that you must have children of a certain age or be pregnant with a due date of no later than June 2012 (which means I'm not eligible, grrrrr!) Thought it may come is useful for a few people on here though? xxx

Emsbet try Gap for jeans. I got a pair of dark blue ones from their 1969 range and have worn them almost every day since about 20 weeks! so comfortable

    Morning all.
Not been reading the thread for a few days so have missed loads.
Congratulations to everyone who have had babies :) Good luck to everyone waiting.
Can someone explain how I'm 22nd?!? OK, I know really but I'm sure last time I paid attention I was 40 something.

I noticed a few comments about hospital stays as I was flicking through. My local hospital has 8am-8pm visiting hours for partners but we've been told the rules can be bent as they're not going to send partners home if you're in labour, recovering, baby's not well etc... We're lucky though as we only live 10 minutes from the hospital so providing baby and I are feeling OK it'll probably be better for my OH to pop home for a few hours sleep.

I spent Thursday on the labour ward, this time because I thought I had a UTI - sharp pain down there though not just when going to the loo, pain around my kidneys and a slight temperature. I phoned my GP who wanted me to speak to the midwife first because they've tested me for a UTI three times in the last 2 weeks and the GP hadn't got the results yet.
Community midwife's office got me to call the labour ward to see if they had the results because my midwife didn't and the labour ward said the results were fine but they wanted me to come in for a check up.

Over the course of the day I went from 'it looks like you've got a UTI but we need the lab to confirm' to 'it's unlikely to be a UTI, lets do an internal'.
From there it was 'ah it looks like your cervix may be prematurely opening, we need to get a registrar/consultant to have a look as we may need to keep you in until baby is born'
The registrar wasn't worried about the cervix but wanted me to stay under observation due to the pain.
The consultant then turned up and declared that nothing was really wrong, I'd 'just' got a pile of torn ligaments and damaged muscles and needed to rest so sent me home.

So that was a fun day :p

Did nothing on Friday then Saturday we went to Asda to get some baby clothes and other bits off our things to buy list. After which we went to my inlaws and took my mil shopping for bedding. Bought cot bedding but moses basket bedding seemed really expensive for something which is only likely to be used for a max of 6mths so my lovely MIL bought 2 single bed sheets for £6 and when we went back to hers she cut them down and sewed hems so we have 6 sheets for the moses basket :)

We've now got the majority of the things on our list - just need some nursing bras but they can wait until closer to the due date incase my breast change again. Put up the moses basket in our room to see what it looks like and it suddenly felt very real - have put it down again for now.

    Finally feeling organised :)

Thanks gtothec but there's no Gap in Bolton :( Knew I should have gone into Manchester but I couldn't be bothered. Oh well H&m have quite a big selection in their Bolton store so I'll check there.

Glad it wasn't anything too serious mrsmanda but torn ligaments sound very painful. I hope you recover soon.

    Am back now :)

Thanks for the link Miss Monkey Moo, I have just applied - am due in June but it doesn't specify whether baby has to be born before June or not so I applied anyway lol

Just got back in and while I was out, one of my cats has decided some toilet roll OH left on table this morning is an enemy so there is now shredded toilet roll all over my kitchen floor  Wouldn't mind but I swept before going out as I am mopping this afternoon, have to start again now lol

Just having a brew before tackling it again :p

Re: maternity clothes, I bought a fair few in the next sale as I had vouchers left over from Xmas. I bought a pair of jeans from Peacocks (size 10) which are now too small over the bump but have a pair of size 12 from Next which fit perfectly on the bump but are too long in the leg :o Can't seem to get it right :p I am learning to live with it as only 5 weeks to go :)

Re: Bra's, I have some from Mothercare that I bought at 16 (ish) weeks and they have been very comfortable throughout - I think I have gone up a couple of cup sizes in all :)
  • Glad you ok Mrs Manda :) Just thought I would mention that with DS we had a moses basket and for sheets we used pillow cases (none of us handy with sewing machine :o). It cut the costs down and they fit perfectly once the corners are folded under :)

    Hi again,
sorry I forgot to ask in my last post but how often does everyone get Braxton Hicks?
Over the last two days I've been getting them a couple of times an hour and they even woke me up last night. I'm sure they're nothing to worry about and hopefully will be preparing my body so labour can be quicker but they're starting to make me ache alot (not sure how much of that is due to the torn ligaments not helping?).

If they're still happening so often by Friday I'll ask my midwife as I have an appointment with her Friday afternoon but thought I'd see what everyone else's experiences have been *hugs*
  • I've been getting them quite regularly (one or two an hour), they seem to be worse at night when I settle down on sofa for a rest. None have been really painful, just uncomfortable more than anything although if they happen when I am walking, they do take my breath away sometimes :)

    Morning all,

I have a day off work and have been having a lazy morning as it is my birthday today :). DH has bought me a spa voucher so that when I'm a bit further on I can go for a bit of pampering and get a pedicure when I can't reach my toes anymore! We're off out in a bit. Going ten pin bowling and then for a three course lunch - yum. I am feeling like a very lucky girl today. I love birthdays - well apart from the being a year older bit that is!

Hope everyone is feeling well and having a good day today.
