dizziblonde thanks for the long post
Looks like most people like to get bottles just in case. I'll need to think about it some more. I'd really hate to be unprepared but then I'd also hate buying all the equipment and not using it. Bottles is one thing but then you add sterilisers, pumps etc and it all adds up.
For a bath, I think I'm going to go for a Tippitoes mini bath - it's got brilliant reviews on Amazon. Although I'm planning to top and tail in the first few days. May change my mind tough once our baby care book arrives. We ordered on Friday as we know totally nothing about babies.
I didn't get a Moses basket. To be honest I never even heard about them until not long ago. In my family and my friends families all the babies went straight into the cot. So we'll have the cot for overnight sleeping and a carrycot for during the day. Hope it'll work as planned.0 -
I like the look of that little bath silly moo thanks!0

One thing I'd say, about bottles, if you don't buy them you'l be pretty much stuck with whatever your supermarket sell (probably a mixture of Avent & Tommee Tippee) both of these brands didn't really suit my LO.
If I was you I'd buy a couple of bottles from a couple of different brands (keep them in the box and with a receipt) then if you don't need them you can exchange and if you do like a specific type, then you can buy a whole set.
We've been through 3 whole sets here  ££££.
Loved my breast pump too, my little man wouldn't latch so it as invaluable to me to get the milk for him. For reasons out with my control I couldn't continue with feeding him breast milk, but am now selling it on Ebay and from the looks of things will probably get a good price. So you do get a good return on things.
The reasons people chose moses baskets and cribs over cots, is because babies generally settle better in smaller spaces, even in his carrycot and crib, we've to roll up blankets either side to make him feel "enclosed" and he's 3 months now, it's the only way he'l sleep. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I have a Moses basket. My daughter hated the swinging crib.so she was in Moses basket then put into her cot at six weeks. We put her into her cot in the Moses basket so she wouldn't feel so out of her comfort zone and it worked well. Wet straight for Moses basket this time. Baby can be right beside bed without taking up too mic spacelove you lots like jelly tots0

Just thought I'd add my tuppence worth as I had my baby 5 weeks ago. My lo hates her mose basket, luckily it was donated, she's now in a cosatto gliding crib also donated by my friend as her lo had outgrown it. I think she was waking herself up touching the sides then not being able to see anyone. The crib is wider, sturdier and the gaps mean she can see out.
I'm the opposite to most I've bought the whole medela shebang, steriliser, bottles, swing pump and food warmer. It was all on offer at the baby show in london. I expressed milk religiously for a fortnight, but decided it was just easier and tidier to breastfeed. I know some people struggle to bf, but I've been lucky after a few hiccups, a few tears and sleepless nights I think I've got it sorted. I've glad I bought it, but its all just cluttering up my kitchen now. It is reassuring to know its all there if circumstances change and for the future so I can have a bit if freedom to express for babysitters, but at the moment I've got to confess loving breastfeeding as I can have Lo all to myself
Also helps with weightloss had lost 9 lbs the last time I checked after initially losing almost 2st by actually having the baby. I was a bit greedy though I think I put on about 4 st during pregnancy and its not like I was underweight, start weight was about 11 st.
In regards to 3 in 1 system I got the uppababy vista, was pricey, but have been using it for over a month now and its amazing. Easy to use and manoeuvre and strangely she'll sleep in the carrycot which is almost the same size as the Moses basket, maybe its the mattress!?!?
Hope this helpsGot married 13/11/10

Would agree on the mattress' My LO loves his carry cot and we just had to buy a new mattress for the gliding crib and he likes that now after 13 weeks!
More often than not though he ends up in with us little monkey. Only way I can get him to sleep through! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Lola888 I bought the Uppababy Vista too! I'm so glad you like it. I'm planning to use the carrycot for daytime sleeping so I don't need to walk up and down the stairs all the time carrying my LO to and from his bed. Do you think I need to buy a second mattress for the carrycot or will one be enough?0
