Dizzi - sorry you are having to go through all this, hopefully though the jaundice will have improved by next visit and you won't need to go back.
Headache has not cleared so have called triage and have been told to take 2 paracetamol, rest for 2 hours and call back if it has not cleared - will have to go up for tests if not cleared so really hoping it eases off... Just waiting for OH to get home so I can go and chill in the bath for a bit - that normally clears my head a bitWill also try water

Headaches normally abate with one or more of the following (depending what's caused them).
Bit of fresh air
Water in case you're dehydrated
Lie down in a dark room
Rub your head, neck and temples - most headaches are caused by muscle tension.
Worth giving them all a try, I'd say. Poor love. But do get checked out if you're not feeling better soon, particularly if the tablets fail to make any difference.
It doesn't sound like a typical migraine. Your reports of 'blurred vision' aren't the usual sight disturbances you get with a migraine; these are more likely to be shimmering patterns (I get zigzags) and perhaps a blind (not blurred) patch. One other thing that's really common with migraines.. did you get sensitive to light? I don't mean you squint a bit because your head hurts but when your vision was funny did it really hurt to have your eyes open?
I'm probably posting beyond what I should be in terms of medical advice. Get yourself checked out, particularly your blood pressure."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I had my first 4 babies at billinge, that was a really nice hospital and the staff were lovely and I always felt ok asking for help, that hospital has gone now so I had to have my last 2 at bolton and I really felt uncomfortable asking for anything there it is so busy you feel like your mithering if you ask for help,so I came home 5 hours after the birth with the last oneDD1 27/5/1992

Argh my dog is too used to having me around at home already!
He's been a right pest all day, crying to be in the computer room (he's not allowed in here!), begging for food and walks and I've just returned from cleaning the carpet again because the little monkey ate his dinner too quickly and it came straight back up (sorry TMI  am just frustrated!) How the hell will I cope with him when the baby gets here!
Just sat and watched an episode of this US programme Maternity Ward, it seems that an epidural is pretty much a given over there :shocked:0 -

Is that the one on home and health? I've been thinking the same when I watched it. It all seems a lot more clinical over there too, like a procedure rather than childbirth (IYSWIM, not really making my self clear). The doctors seem more involved than the midwives even in text book labours.

Oh Dizzi, I'm so sorry that your nightmare with that evil hospital continues
Hope LO is ok too. I'd be really interested in a name and shame too. Sending lots of love xx
Many many congratulations Dashikii :happyhear Can't wait to hear which names you decide upon! And a picture would be soooooo great! That goes for Gin too, hope she is doing well with her twins.
Anyone heard anything from Dinah? Hope all is going OK for her and her LO.
Huge hugs sexymouse. I have a grandad in a care home too and a lot of my work is with people with a dementia. I know how difficult it can be, well done for talking it through with your mum and explaining how you feel. Big squishes xxMFW!

I think it's the same though I'm watching it on Really as we have very few digital channelsyes, I noticed that too, it's a very heavily medical environment. At nearly 40 weeks watching this stuff has become addictive, but it all feels very real now too. A friend told me something this week that's made me feel a bit  about labour too, wish people would keep their scare stories to themselves!
So looking forward to my hubby getting back from work tonight so we can plan to do something to celebrate 'due day' tomorrow otherwise I'll be an impatient nightmare! Am thinking Wagamama for lunch and maybe a trip to the flicks0 -

Having a baby in America is deffinatly a different experience to here. in america the "normal" way to give birth is flat on your back with an epidural and doctors attending you not midwives. We have the lovely NHS which we pay into but american's don't they have insurance. sometimes the insurance doesn't cover the cost of the birth (call me a cynic but I think this is why americans give birth the way they do.. greedy hospitals and dr's, the more interventions the better as it costs more money...) there's an interesting link here http://community.babycenter.com/post/a4255735/what_does_it_cost_to_give_birth_in_the_u.s
i too have been watching the home and health birth programmes (american ones) and the doctors seem so condecendingi dont think I would enjoy the experiance (or the cost!)
Dizzi- could you not get your MW to get you into a different hospital if you need to have the little one seen again? I hope they can sort it out for you and make it as stress free as possiblexxx
ETA- oh my word.... some of those womens insurance companies were billed £30,000+ for "normal" births....Bad mother to 2!

Ah Dizzi it sounds just awful at that unit. Pity the weather has been so rubbish otherwise a bit of sunshine might have made a bit of difference to Erin's jaundice. I'm not really too sure about the phototherapy if it's a continuous thing or just short bursts, could you just go for a few hours then home? Hope there's somewhere different that's relatively near that you could go instead. How awful because some daft person in a uniform decided to involve social services that now you feel unable to get involved in your baby's care. Big hugs to you hun
SM must be horrible for you to see you nan like that and know shes saying bad things. Alzheimer's is terrible, but still it's hurtful when they're saying things even if you know it's not really the saying it. Least your mum understands a little bit and you've managed a good chat.
Amy I know what you mean, this daft cat if mine follows me everywhere except when the doorbell goes (she's very scared of strangers and the doorbell). Don't know what she did before I was home all day.
Enjoy your due date celebrations.
Jovi hope you're feeling better. Used to get migraines and my vision would be blurry in one eye. May be worth getting checked over anyway, can't hurt. Hope OH is home soon to help out with Jake.:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j
