  • I've had my fair share of people telling me I look 'big' for my dates, I am only 5ft 5 and am usually a size 8-10 so I put it down to that.. What really bothers me is the random people who think it is fine to touch your belly... what is with that??? I had a woman in Asda a few weeks ago who I had never met come up to me and place her hand on my bump and ask when baby was due - when did my body become public property???

Wait till baby is here, people think its ok to touch and stroke your baby, when your hormones are all over the place it can really upset you,I was really paranoid about germs and made everybody use hand gel so when it was a stranger and they just dive in for the cheeks it really upset me

  • Wow, this thread moves quickly! Had so much to catch up on I'm sure I haven't read everything!

BB - glad to hear that you are ok and reassured. It must have been worrying and that's never a nice thing.
Gin - many congrats and they are beautiful names!
Elelyn/MrsBryan/jovi - thank goodness you all posted your comments! I have been feeling huge since about week 8 and have been quite depressed about it at times but over the last few weeks I have been feeling a lot better as it's quite apparent that I have a proper bump now! I've also realised that everyones bump size varies and that's just the way it is, but I was still furious the other day when a colleague thought it was appropriate to greet me with "Hello Fatty!" Normally I would have laughed this off, but I have to admit I did swear at him and told him to move away from me very quickly. Today, after someone else told me I was looking radiant, the same colleague decied to explain that when people use the words 'radiant' and 'blooming' what they actually mean is 'fat'. I again told him to move out of my vicinity. Ordinarily we actually get on really well. I am sure he thinks it's funny and sees it as a joke, but I just think it's rude and downright insensitive! On a positive note, OH has noticed I have been a lot happier in the last few days and not as hung up on getting bigger, so I guess I am making steps in the right direction.

Oh and Jovi, I read somewhere (can't remember where - I wonder if it was on this thread? LOL) that if a stranger comes up and feels your bump, you should feel their belly back on comparison. Should make them realise how inappropriate it is!

Hope everyones having a great Wednesday!

Ps - anyone know if Mamas and Papas Zoom travel system is any good? OH and I saw it last night and really like the look of it but it's more than we wanted to pay. If anyone can give any feedback or know of any offers anywhere would be much appreciated!

OMG Ginvzt! Huge congratulations to you! Im so impressed that you managed a natural birth with twins. Hats off to you! I so hope you get cuddles soon and that you are all well and happy. Lovely names too :)

    Im still hanging in there!

Had second sweep this morning. Midwife managed to get a finger in to my cervix this morning so that is an improvement. I have been booked for induction on Monday now if nothing happens before. Its not what I want as I so wanted to do things naturally but I understand that I cant keep hanging on forever.

I actually think my due date is a week out. Originally going by my cycle I was due on the 22nd April, but my first scan put me at 15th April. I am pretty sure I know when we conceived too which is in line with the later due date. I did ask MW if it was possible that my dates could be wrong and she said they could be a week out. It doesnt really matter though as they go by the scan date so that is that. It does explain a few things though, and I am measuring 39 weeks instead of 41 so that makes sense too.

As you can probably tell I am feeling a bit more upbeat today :)

Im just pleased to have a plan. Also my Mum is coming to stay from Friday until the baby arrives and I cant wait to see her. She lives 5 hours away so it will be so good to have her around for a while.

Also pleased that my induction date is not on my birthday on Sunday!

Amymo hope you exam goes well today

Im off to make a curry for dinner!

 just on a break from the decorating, we've painted the walls so just going to leave them to dry and check if there are any patches. Just got to move all the furniture downstairs (except the beds) and pull the carpets up ready for tomorrow when the new carpets come.

Glad you've got a date for your induction Charli and you're feeling more positive.

Miss money, glad you had a nice day yesterday and you and your OH have talked. I hope the GP can give you something to help with the pain.

Grr at the insensitive comments re bumps! And double   for the strangers touching bumps! I'm not sure how I'll cope if that happens to me, I'm not good with having my personal space invaded :o

Talking of bumps, I had the first stranger notice I'm pregnant (well first one to say something) and I was chuffed that I don't just look fat ;) it was the manager of the restaurant we were in, it's a local one that we go to reasonably often (say once a month) :)

    xx

Congratulations Gin, I hope you are getting baby cuddles today, it's very important to get lots of skin to skin, there was a report just the other day about how even skin to skin with the dad helps calm babies and prepare them for breastfeeding.

Google kangaroo care if you are interested - good for preterm babies.

not on our neo-natal unit lol... seriously don't get me started on this one!

hv today, whom i actually quite like and is relatively un-stereotypically health visitory suggested i rewind things and take the baby into the bath for some quiet skin to skin cuddling time with her - to try to make up for all the stuff that went wrong with the birth.

sorry no caps - as usual chained to a breastpump these days.

OK edited now I've got both hands free - Asda baby event back on - not massively impressed (and let's get on my current pet rant about preemie sized nappies never ever ever being in the special offers again... talk about penalising you for popping early - especially when you've got a limited range of brands to start with and I find Tesco's too thick when you're working in such tiny tiny sizes) but the usual wipes and stuff reduced... we only really went in because someone at the hospital nicked my chuffing huge pot of sudocreme and I've lost my backup pot!

    Hi all!

    I hope all are well!

I have all different opinions thrown at me about my size - oh you're big, oh you're small. I just try to take it with a pinch of salt and try not to worry about it.

Just wanted to say that today is 100 days til my due date! We're down to double figures tomorrow!!!!

Great to hear you feeling upbeat Charli :) You'll be getting mummy cuddles before you know it :)

Yay for being 100 days to go MrsExcited! And lovely for Emsbet to be bump spotted! :D Hope everyone is well, great that you are posting on here Dizzi and that you had a good visit from hv today :)

Very miserable day for me, had to turn round half way to work this morning as was in total agony with pelvis. Got into bath then have been laying down flat most of the rest of the day, seems to have helped a bit. Not at work tomorrow and have been told not to come in on Friday, they are very supportive but I do feel quite low about it all.

    Onwards and upwards tho :)

    thanks emsbet :) x
re people being incredibly rude about bump sizes... I work in a school and when I was 2o weeks pregnant the male care taker said to me "are you sure you're not having twins?!" with a horrified look on his face... I wasn't impressed! I took a deep breath and said "I am prefectly happy ith the size of the bump.. It's actually smaller than the last 2 pregnancies which were huge bumps full of fluid lol" I think some people think they are being funny but are actually being complete @rses!
I can't remember who said about feeling other peoples bellies but i do this :o If someone touches my bump without permission I go straight for their tummy... :D I swear i've never seen hands move away so fast!! Bump girl has been wriggling and kicking and abusing me from the inside something rotten today lol! plus Ive had 2 really really stron BH which have made me feel like i need a poo really badly :o I bought a kelly holms gym ball last night should have been £20ish quid a tesco found it in the reduced isle for £7!! :D so Im going to have a bounce on that tonight :)
I still havent found a suitable cot yet.... more looking on ebay awaits!

:( I'm sorry you've been in pain :( (hug) Ive found that lying flat but propped up helps alot.. as do warm baths and back massages (if you can stand them) xx (you can also milk it and go for feet massage, leg and a gentle tummy massage!!!! (baby bump seems to enjoy the tummy massage dan rubs in cocoa butter and she does a disco dance :o )

just a quick msg, I will catch up but exhausted from first full week to term - has anyone had any sharp pains on side baby's on? I'm 23 weeks today and about 2 o clock and 5 o clock had such a strong pain under my right rib, I had to move around to get comfortable and felt as though I'd been winded :( When they did the scan last week, it was the side little man was on so was wondering if he was just wriggling but still... ouchies!
