Don't let it spoil your day Elelyn. Rudeness is a curse!!!DS1 born June 2000

Just ignore the comment from that pr@t Elelyn. I've had comments that I look small and other comments that I look huge! As others have said before, I think most people haven't a clue what size is "normal" plus there's such a variation from woman to woman in size and shape. If your midwife thinks you're ok then that's all the matters (although as we've seen they are not always right- telling people they are going to have a whopper then their baby is average sized!)
Good to see you are out of hospital dizzi. How are you and Erin getting on at home?

Morning all
Congratulations Ginvzt :j I am in awe of you having a natural birth with twins - such good weights too and adorable names!! Hope you get your mummy cuddles today
Elelyn; ignore the rude man, your weight can be worked on later, his ignorance is there for life
BB1984 Glad the hospital were able to diagnose the issue for you and that its not anything that can harm babyHope your eye gets better soon
Re names: We had loads for a little girl but none particularly stood out for us both for a boy - after lots and lots of discussion, we have narrowed down to two boys names we both like and are going to wait and see which one bubs seems to fit most when he arrives
Re monitors: We have got one, the tommee tippee digital sound one, OH wanted one with a sensor mat/video camera etc but I put my foot downOurs just relays the sound from the room and gives you the temperature in the room so that you can adjust clothing/blankets accordingly... We live in a house so figure that bubs will be upstairs for naptimes and it can get quite noisy at times with DS so will need to be able to hear if bubs wakes IYSWIM.
Am 33 weeks today so only 6 weeks to go for me, it's starting to feel very, very real all of a sudden
Right am off to sort out the kitchen and hopefully settle bump down as he feels like he is doing the can-can in my belly
Hope all ok

Yeah, I think I'll take the midwife's word for it and she said everything seems perfect. I have to go for a blood test later in the week though to check for diabetes as it is in my immediate family. The instructions are very specific. I'm to get up and have a bowl of cereal plus one slice of toast with spread and jam or marmalade - all of which must be eaten within ten minutes - and then get them to take blood exactly two hours after I finish eating. Seems like a right palaver - last time I was tested for diabetes it was a simple finger !!!!! test and it didn't matter what time of day/what I'd eaten. I think I'll go Friday morning as I am off work then. I have Monday and Tuesday off as well as we want to get the nursery decorated - I can't wait to get it all set up nice!0

I'm going to have a little rant if that's okay. Had an appointment with the midwife yesterday during which I was told I was growing well and was a perfect size for my dates. I was very happy about that I have been worried about becoming too massive (I have been eating rather a lot!). Then this morning, I bumped into a guy at work who asked me how long I have left to go and then said "you're a bit on the big side for only halfway through aren't you?" How unbelievably rude!!! It really upset me. I know I should just ignore it and it's probably my hormones making me upset but I couldn't believe someone would be so blunt. Grrrrr.
People think they have a right to comment, Elelyn. When you're pregnant you become public property. I'm forever being told my bump's not big enough for my dates, which upsets me because it makes me wonder if the baby's growing OK. Any comment feels intrusive (you should hear what my MIL says to me!).
You've just got to ignore them. What do they know? Especially a man"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
What a thoughtless man Elelyn, I agree we become public property when pregnant, last week my FIL commented with 'ah yes, now you look pregnant' at 39 weeks, after weeks of commenting that I looked far too small for my dates! This couplesd with the mw telling me to expect a little baby had me really worried, but she said everything was fine so I have taken her word for it. Yesterday in the local shops a man said that I look really rough and ready to drop, whereas generally women who have had children have been supportive and lovely!0

Got all the baby clothes out of the loft last night as I've only got 6 weeks to go and had a good sort through, all of it seems pretty decent and like new, thank god as it's going to save me a fortune! Just hope the sonographer at the hospital got it right! Can't believe there are so many clothes - washing machine is going to work overtime today!£2013 in 2013 £866.71/£2013

I've had a customer say something to me about my bump too Elelyn, a couple of weeks ago. She said "Oooh not long for you to go now." I said, "Well I'm 29 weeks, so still a little way." She gasped in shock and said, "OH my God, aren't you huge??"
With my hormones the way they are I would have normally said, "OH f*** off you rude......!" but was at work so couldn't react at all! I just ignored her, and got her little one ready to go home.
So I feel for you, know how it makes you feel but as everyone else said, don't let it get to you, people like that are just idiots! You're carrying a baby and should be proud of how you look!
Congrats Gin, bet you are over the moon! If we were having a girl, we were going to call her Maya, LOVE that name! Out of interest, will it be pronounced MY-ah, or MAY-ah? Just because we preferred the pronounciaiton MAY-ah, but working with kids I've found that most are all pronounced MY-ah? Sorry to be weird just thought I'd ask! xx
Still off work with this damn cold, although my voice is gradually coming back so will probably be back tomorrow. 3 weeks to go!
Re baby monitors, my SIL has bought us the Angelcare monitor, even though I said I didn't want that one, grrrr, so I doubt I will be using the mat. Each to their own though!
Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday

Morning all!
Also wonder how Charli is getting on as well as Natwesty and Dahikii. Hope all is well with them.
Good luck with the job centre Emsbet and the painting
Elelyn as others have said if the midwife is happy then don't worry. I wonder if you have slapped the idiot as blamed the hormones you'd have got away with it? People really like being truthful AKA rude for some reason when you're pregnant and think they can comment on everything and anything.....mini rant over now. Hope your glucose test is ok when you get it done.
Jovi that monitor sounds more in line with what I was thinking. I think OH likes gadgets too much. Might have a look later when I've done some proper jobs in the house. Hope your LO calms down I bit too.
Sorry to anyone I missed, not quite awake properly yet:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j
