Congrats Gin, bet you are over the moon! If we were having a girl, we were going to call her Maya, LOVE that name! Out of interest, will it be pronounced MY-ah, or MAY-ah? Just because we preferred the pronounciaiton MAY-ah, but working with kids I've found that most are all pronounced MY-ah? Sorry to be weird just thought I'd ask! xx

I'd certainly pronounce it My-ah (unless told otherwise). It's difficult giving a child a name that's usually pronounced one way but wanting it said another. She'll be forever saying 'It's May-ah, not My-ah' :D

Could you try spelling it differently?

MrsBryan that's shocking that a customer said that to you. Why don't people think before they open their mouths? I've calmed down now. As long as the little one is healthy and growing well in there I don't care what anyone thinks.
  • I've had my fair share of people telling me I look 'big' for my dates, I am only 5ft 5 and am usually a size 8-10 so I put it down to that.. What really bothers me is the random people who think it is fine to touch your belly... what is with that??? I had a woman in Asda a few weeks ago who I had never met come up to me and place her hand on my bump and ask when baby was due - when did my body become public property???

That's a good attitude to have Elelyn! Hopefully it's because people just don't think and not because they are being rude on purpose.

Fluffnutter, we're having a boy so not going to have that problem! Although like u said, most people pronounce it MY-ah which is probably the correct way. It's only because we went to the Riviera Maya in Mexico on our honeymoon (where this little bundle was conceived!) and it's pronounced MAY-ah there so we were going to name a girl after that. But it's a boy and I don't think OH was impressed when I suggested Cancun as a name!! Haha xx
Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference :)

Speedy Gonzales? It's exotic and elegant. (And, tbh, faintly racist. Sorry :o:D).

Hello ladies :) I haven't caught up on all the thread yet.
I did phone the gp yesterday but i made my appointment for next week... only because i wanted to find out if it was being stuck in causing the depression or EVERYTHING. :o I think It's being stuck in all the time and the pain tbh as I went out yday with my mum and dad and got some fishies for my tanks... I had a really nice time I wasn't sad... I felt like myself again. so much so that when we got home I spoke to Dan in a normal way which caught him off guard and we had a talk about how we are both feeling. I took him moving out of the bedroom as a rejection, he took it him needing to sleep in order to function.. we just think differently and don't tend to explain ourselves very well. :o so we have made up and I will go to the gp next week and get some stronger pain killers for night time and talk to her about feeling down when I cant get out etc.
Felt better today. My dad took me out to get the eldest a raincoat for her school trip tomorrow. Oh my word! no where sells the blasted things  we went to a camping store in the end and it set me back £20! ah well she needs one in this weather!!
I had more odd dreams last night. I dreamt baby was here and said to dan this morning have you fed the baby yet? he looked at me gone out.. i hadn't quite woken up yet!
I need to get looking for a cot on ebay and also a baby monitor... off to peruse now :)
hugs to all that need them xxx

Congratulations Gin, I hope you are getting baby cuddles today, it's very important to get lots of skin to skin, there was a report just the other day about how even skin to skin with the dad helps calm babies and prepare them for breastfeeding.

Google kangaroo care if you are interested - good for preterm babies.
