In the last few weeks, I remember we used to get a lump on one side that was bum shaped we used to see quite often and then the bizarre foot that moves across the middle - I hate being pregnant but I really loved the final stages :D

Wise words dashikii! :D I agree that there's no point in dwelling on the pain. At our ante natal class the other day the midwife said that so much of it is about your mental attitude, and keeping your head in the right place...easier said than done though I'm sure...!

Are any of the tips your friend gave you transferable to writing on here? I could do with any tips going! I plan to get a hypnobirthing cd but have been procrastinating as don't know which one to go for.

    BB x

Ok tip 1; We humans have the same characteristics as animals and if for some reason we do not feel safe in our environment then the body automatically slows/stops labour to allow us to find a safer environment to birth our babies. i.e, its important to make sure that the environment you have you child in is as comfortable as possible, that's why a lot of women seem to have such a calm and peaceful home birth.

Tip 2; try to relax and work with your body. If you feel the need to push then push. Your body knows what it is doing and you need to work with it rather than against it. If you tense up during labour then it will hurt alot more (easier said than done i'm sure lol). Trust your instinct and your body, if something doesn't feel right then its likely that it isn't.

For my first child I was induced so had an epidural and sat still on the bed the whole time, was a horrible experience all round.

With my Ds2 I was induced again but only needed my waters breaking so was much more mobile, at the point when I was contracting I would close my eyes and concentrate on my breathing (in my mind I would visualise a wave coming in and out on the beach) I breathed in/out with the waves and it kept me calm - I found if I let it the contraction would take over and I would panic start to pant and tense up so I was then in agony :o It sounds so hippy but worked amazingly well. Not good if you are using gas & air though, that made me so drunk and giggly I found everything funny and couldnt focus :rotfl:

Tip 3 is almost exactly what BB1984 has said. Remember the contraction is performing a function everytime you have one.

Dashikii, not long for you - in one week you will see them and have the cuddles, fingers crossed for you! I am sure it feels great to have date. How many weeks will you be? I keep forgetting...

Re pain in labour. I am not thinking about it. What happens, happens. And in these days there are plenty of ways doctors can help you to cope with pain. I know I will be strapped to bed, was told that much at delivery suite visit, as they need to monitor both twins, I know it is going to hurt, etc. But I am not going to write a birth plan or anything like it. I am avoiding any suggestions or questions on how would I like to give birth, what position, etc, as I don't want to fill my hea wit ideas and dreams and then all goes completely opposite. Instead, keep my mind open, and midwives and doctors will do what they can to get babies out safely. One thing though - don't want pethidine. And not sure on gas and air, as I hate feeling out of myself (and I don't drink alcohol either, so the drunk feeling is not something I am familiar with). But will give it a go.

    Hi Gin

I'll be 37+6 on the day of the induction, so just before the 38 weeks limit they seem to put on us. I can't believe its happening either, its all very surreal.

With regard to labour, you know that you don't have to have continuous monitoring if you don't want to. I'm the kind of person that NEEDS to move around when in pain so they are welcome to monitor the babies regularly but I doubt very much that I will let them strap me to the bed for forever!

I agree totally that the best method is to be easy going and go with the flow. Thats my plan too. My only issue is that my physio has specified that I'm a bit useless and lack control in my legs and lower regions once on my back so i'm hoping for a better alternative.

I thought I had escaped having any stretchmarks but I think i'm starting to see the beginning of one. Its not fair, I did so well to last this long and got it right at the end dammit :(

if they put the thing on babies head to monitor, I doubt I will be very comfortable or encouraged to move. But we will see.

I have one rather thick stretchmark that I noticed - it I probably about 2-3" long going up from my belly button... I expect there will be more to come.

In the last few weeks, I remember we used to get a lump on one side that was bum shaped we used to see quite often and then the bizarre foot that moves across the middle - I hate being pregnant but I really loved the final stages :D

I used to love this with DD, when I laid in bed at night I could see her turn right around and my tummy would literally shift from one side to the other with her, really used to freak out DH though!:rotfl:

Can I join in please ladies? Have been lurking for a while and some familiar faces (IYKWIM). Am 23 weeks, due 11th August with a surprise (we chose not to find out the flavour).

Is there still no news from Dizzi? Hope she is OK
