Wow Dizzi, reading that has made me very emotional. Many many congratulations on Erin arriving safely - I hope you will be at home together very very soon :happyhear

Not at work today - got an aqua-natal class at 9am then the midwife this afternoon. Feel very tired today and have very sore breasts - I suspect I may have had a bit of leakage in the night (if thats even possible at 30 weeks?) Going to speak to midwife about them as its worried me a bit.

    Have a good day all

WOW dizzi, really sorry you had to go through so much :-( But at least you've now got a lovely little girl to look after and hopefully will be able to escape the hospital and all the trauma there soon.
I'm amazed about her weight - my friend gave birth on Friday, 10 days overdue and her baby was only 5pound 2 ozs.

I know you won't feel like it now, or perhaps for quite a long time but it may be worth at some point turning your post into a formal complaint for the hospital so that hopefully no one else will have to go through what you did. I think the midwife at my last antenatal class said you have something like 4 years to complain about your treatment.

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl :)

It's worth mentioning to the midwife, especially as you're seeing her anyway as it'll stop you worrying. But until you see her, it may reassure you a little that according to the NHS pregnancy guide you can get leaky breasts from ~14 weeks.

    Enjoy your aqua-natal class :)

Congratulations Dizzi on the birth of Erin. So sorry to hear how traumatic it was for you. I hope that you manage to get home with her soon.

Gin I hope the inlaw situation resolves itself for you. I live next door to my MIL so I've already told Moon that he should tell her to stay away for the first couple of weeks so we can settle in to being a family on our own. I have visions of her coming over the minute we're home otherwise.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Sorry your MIL is being a pain in the @ss again Gin. I hope you can get your OH fighting your corner for you soon, you and the babies should come before his mother's feelings. Re: breast feeding in front of her, I would just take the babies up stairs to the nursery or your bedroom and make it clear to her that it's not a spectator sport and she is to wait downstairs. My DH doesn't want anyone to come visit for the first few days after we are home because he's never really been around babies so is unsure what to do etc so he wants to get used to the basics, holding baby, nappy changes etc before others come gawping and judging his abilities. I quite like the idea of having a few days together just the three of us before the circus of guests arrive.

Happy, I hope you are doing well with your boys :)

I'm still a bit snuffly and coughing but I feel fine in myself so I think the cold is on the way out. My rash appears to be fading. I showed it to my sister and a friend, both are nurses, and they both said they didn't think it looked like dermatitis but think it looked more like a reaction to something. I've stopped using the hydrocortisone cream the last few days as it appears to be fading and I'd rather not use it too much.

I'm going to be stripping the wallpaper of the walls in the small bedroom this week. It's the one we hope to use as a nursery (if it's big enough) and we want the wallpaper up before the new carpets are put down. We are just going to either put up a plain paper and paint it or get a paper in a fairly neutral colour. We will then get some wall stickers later on to make it look more like a nursery. I also need to paint the walls in our bedroom. The third bedroom was recently painted so at least I don't have to do that.
There's also a load of housework to do so that should keep me occupied until our scan a week tomorrow ;)

    xx

Thanks all for kind words. I know I don't want her around soon and the shorter the visit, the beter. The problem with the feeling is that I may need someone to help me initially with passing the babies to me, especially as there are two of them! But we will see, maybe I will manage to cope myself with all this.

The thing is, I want the babies to meet their grandma and for her to be on ther lives, but in limited doses, please! My own mum is only coming in the second half of July, and she is not pressuring me that she needs to be here days after the birth, why would I want his mum on my neck soon after the birth?

Anyway, it is another day, and sun is shining. I need to finish sorting the house for the cleaners tomorrow (not cleaning, just putting things away, so they can actually do the cleaning). I really need to make a trip to the skip and sort out the shed a bit, and then the pots in the garden, but I guess those will have to wait a few more days. Well, I might do a small load to the skip. I am running out of space to store all the junk!

Oh, and it is twins club today, so I better find out where the place is and memorise the road as our Tom Tom is in OH's car....

Dizzi, oh my god! I have been almost in tears reading your story. What shocking treatment by the hospital staff. I'm so glad there was a happy ending for you and little Erin (gorgeous name by the way!).

Quick Query for those who've already given birth
(I'll post on the newborn thread as well but thought I'd get some ideas from here).

What was the most useful/nicest present you received after the birth of your baby?

I want to get something for my friends but my OH has warned me against buying baby clothes, teddy bears and flowers because he thinks they'll get loads from everyone else.

We were thinking of perhaps getting something for the new mummy and daddy as most things seem to be centred on baby and daddy especially seems to get left out.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received :)
