Booked myself for a 'Spa manicure & pedicure' for next Friday before we go off for the wedding. And will see if I can get my hair sorted on Saturday morning before we drive off, so I need the first appointment o the day. A bit of a treat for myself! Now, if only I could get dressed and get to town, would be great. Feeling rather lazy today...

I am going to get a fascinator on eBay - never worn one, it is not something we have at home or in OH's country, so absolutely new to me. Is there a specific side/way it needs to be worn?

Thank you for all the replies about my midwife experience so far! I get annoyed when I don't stand up for myself, but then find myself falling into the trap time and time again. The responsibility for baby and supportive comments on here are really empowering me though so I'm definitely going to speak up - thank you all

I'm also feeling more human today - was only up 3 or 4 times in the night for the toilet and didn't end up flicking through freeview at 4am for the first time in ages! I think the warm bath before bed really helped so would definitely recommend it.

I've been planting some seeds this afternoon. It suddenly struck me that as they begin to germinate there'll be a whole new person in our lives too... made me smile from ear to ear

Ginvzt - I guess it depends what type of fascinator you are going for! I had a cute one for a hen do last year, and I bought it off ebay. It was attached to a head band so I didn't have to worry about positioning it - i just put it on my head and it stayed there for the day! The ones with clips are great as you can then obviously put them where you want, but sometimes these can be heavy and they end up falling out of your hair! Or maybe it's just me....... :rotfl:

I was going to get a clip one and now you are scaring me! I booked an appointment with my hairdresser to do something with my hair,so she may need to superglue it!

The heartburn is getting worse by the day. No matter what I eat, 2 hours or so later it comes up so bad, I don't know what to do with myself! I am getting suspicions that the iron tablets have something to do with this - took one just before I was leaving for town, and soon after the fun started. The suggestion that all midwives gave to take iron with orange juice is simply impossible!

Natwesty definitely speak up! You need to feel comfortable with the care you are being given, its such an important time. I have seen several different midwives over my pregnancy, and I know there will be a different one again when I go to the labour ward, apparently thats just how it works here. It look me a while to get my head around not building a relationship with just one midwife but they have all been good so I guess Im cant complain. Funny how care is so different in different parts of the country.

Gin - I love a pretty facinator! I got a few, both those on bands and those on grips. The ones on bands are easier to keep in, but if you get one with grips then I normally find an extra couple of kirby grips and some hair spray will keep it in place. Maybe pop some extra kirby grips in your handbag just in case. It doesnt matter too much where you put it, wherever you think it look nicest I tend toput my hair in a side parting then put the facinator on the side with the least hair - if that makes sense. Im sure you will look lovely.

Emsbet - So pleased you got to hear LO's heart beat. Amazing! I never get tired of hearing that sound.

If you take the fascinator with you to the hairdressers they'll make sure it they work it into your hairstyle. It's better than them doing your hair then trying to stick it in yourself

Some iron supplements can cause heartburn - my mum had the same problem when she was taking them. If you speak to your doctor they should be able to prescribe a different type to try. Or they may suggest taking heartburn medication though not at the same time as the iron as I think they reduce iron absorption.

I'm really hoping increasing my dietary iron over the week and half will mean my blood comes back OK as I really don't like taking iron tablets and the GP has already given me Gavison to help with acid reflux so don't really want to take something which could make it worse
Though if it got my energy back I'd be willing to put up with it.

Hi ladies! Just realised I'm number 8 on the list....it doesn't seem like 5 mins since I was down in the 40's!!

I'm finally having a relaxing day. I did some cleaning this morning and I had intended going for a walk at lunchtime but then it started raining and by the time it stopped I couldn't be bothered!

For the ladies who have heard the heartbeat for the first time today....fab news, I didn't get to hear mine until I was 26 weeks as my midwife doesn't listen to it but it is soo, lovely to hear!
