    Evening all :)

It's been quite a while since I've been able to log-on so firstly congratulations to all new mummies and daddies and welcome to everyone new :j

There are some gorgeoussss names on the newborn list - also slightly shocked at how much I've moved up the bumps list - really doesn't feel like long now!!

I've finished work this week - was really quite pressured towards the end so definitely feel ready for my mat leave. Really struggling sleeping though... everything just seems to itch, hurt or ache! I feel quite guilty as my mornings so far have slipped away lying in or having a bath - hope I sleep better soon so I can make the most of my pre-baby days off (just running a warm bath now to see if that helps tonight)

I just wondered how people are getting on with their midwifes. I'm not normally one to complain but I got a bit fed up this week. Due to holidays/training I've alternated between two midwifes and haven't had two consecutive appointments where I've seen the same one. I find that most of my appointment is taken up by me telling the one I'm seeing what the other one said last time :undecided. At my last appointment it turns out they disagree about baby's position - one thinks it's head down engaged (which I was really pleased about!) but the other thinks that's it's bottom and it's still breach. I'm nearly 36 weeks so was a bit bothered but she said if there is still uncertainty at my next appointment (next week) I should go for scan - except it's down to me to tell the other midwife as this one is on a training day next week. I don't want to be too pushy and tell the other midwife how to do her job, but don't want to ignore the midwife that thinks it's still breach. I just feel like I'm being past from pillar to post  - not sure if I expect too much though - it's not their fault if the nhs is stretched - has anyone else experienced similar?

Sorry, bit of a moan there....I am really excited too. My husband built the crib the other night that felt really special....can't believe little baby will be in there soon :):):)

Fingers crossed for a better night's sleep for all the night owls out there. x x x

hi Natwesty, this is similar to my experience, I've seen 3 midwives all have talked about cutbacks and at my last appointment I was upset when one said "has anyone talked to you about the size of your baby" because they hadn't and although they're not worried about her measuring small it worried me that perhaps the others could have missed something. I'm 38 weeks and gonna insist on the mw looking through my notes next week to make sure everything that we should have discussed has been cos there are gaps in my file! I suggest you follow your instincts and make sure you leave your next appt feeling reassured, if that means asking for a scan then do ask for it x
  • Evening all,
    Hope everyone is well.
I've got a long 5ft (I think) pillow. I find it seems to escape a bit in the night. But I got a firm foam "leg pillow" and a memory foam V pillow which at a right angle supports head and spine.
To be honest I kinda skimmed it do forgotten who said what.
Natwesty sounds bad to me. I mean the idea of you having the notes is so that the midwife or whosever can write and the next person is updated without repeating the last appointment. Seems worrying that two different midwives have different opinions about the position of the baby. Maybe a scan now would put your mind at rest?
Been a manic day here, finishing work two hours late so I'm hoping I'll sleep all night otherwise I'll go crazy!!
Saw Happy's pic on Facebook. He's so gorgeous, I'm feeling extra broody with all the beautiful babies that keep coming :-)
Hope everyone manages a good night's sleep with no bizarre/horrible dreams or painful bits. Xxx

I thought I'd be bored on maternity leave but I'm 2 weeks in and haven't had time to be bored yet! I seem to keep finding things to do, I should probably be making more effort to rest while I can but its just not happening!

I had my first two weeks of maternity leave, and I am worried I am running out of time. Well, OH gave go ahead this morning to get a handyman/plumber to replace the cloakroom suite, so hopefully that can be done soon, cleaner starting next Thursday, oven is getting cleaned on Wednesday and I have some contacts for help in the garden. It is starting to feel better.

Sorted the nursery more or less yesterday - I know have so much storage, I am not sure what to do with it all! We have a wardrobe, changer with 3 drawers and a cupboard and then Ikea tall drawer unit with 6 bigger drawers and 2 small ones (it is not a wide unit,40cm). Now OH made a u-turn on wall stickers, we might get some as well, just need to choose. I love these:

And the only other bits left will be the lamp shade/light if some sorts and the blind.

Oh and I keep forgetting to say, I got maternity tights from debenhams. not sure if they have them in store as I got them online.

I ordered some online yesterday. Got two pairs, and they should be here soon hopefully. If something is not right, I'll just have to find another online shop quickly with next day delivery.

Natwesty, I am under consultant care, so don't even have a midwife. What happens is midwife collects me from reception, checks blood pressure, urine sample, then gets the consultant. I had 4 appointments like this. I have seen 2 different midwives and 3 consultants - the head of the team and two 'junior' ones. And it went so much so, that after my first appointment when. Have been seen by lovely younger doctor, next time the head said that she us young and knows nothing! And it was the head that wanted to send me to GP for the following appointment until midwives corrected her. Then last time I saw a different young doctor again, and she was talking that if all is ok they will look at inducing me after 37 weeks. Have next appointment next week - will see who I see then and what they say.

We had our delivery suite visit last night. And I managed to fall over on the way. I used to have weak ankles, and it seems they are getting weaker again at this stage of the pregnancy. So, my ankle twisted and I managed to end up on all fours in the middle of the road in the efforts to protect the bump. I hit my palms and the opposite leg knee pretty hard, but no blood loss (thanks for the jeans), just still painful ankle this morning.

The visit itself was great. They talked us through what is were and then took us to see the delivery room and the birthing pool (which I will not be allowed to use). I was told that in will probably be tied to the bed due to all the monitoring and there likely to be a 'few' more people in the room. The midwife also took us to see neonatal unit, which was great. It is scary, but I prefer to see it in advance than in emergency. The nice thing they do, I thought, once the babies are ready to go home, they don't just send you home, but they have overnight rooms and want you to spend 24 hours with the babies, your partner is also welcome to stay, so that you can get some idea what it is like to spend full time with your babies before being thrown in the deep end.

Right, it seems a long post again. I better get out if bed now and get dressed. I promised to myself to do some cleaning today and then need to go to collect OH's suit from dry cleaners.

    Glad you slept well triangle
It's been ages since Dizzi last posted I do hope she's ok.
Jovi hope you don't overdo the cleaning and get too tired. How old are the kids, could give them a duster each?

I slept for 11 hours except for a few wee breaks. Wow I actually feel a bit human today. Need to leave for work in an hour so better get going.......now what's for breakfast?

Hope everyone has a good day
