Congratulations to Happy, thanks for updating us Emmy!
One week into maternity leave and I'm starting to get a bit lazy! Last week I tootled off to work no problems, this week I cannot be bothered to go anywhere, I just want to stay in the house and watch OBEM, Maternity Ward and Supernanny type programmes, interspersed with washing baby clothes! I do however have an OU exam to revise for, I just cannot find the energy to do anything about it!
Monitors, we haven't really bothered to look as we live in a small flat all on one floor so will see how it goes. I have just looked at the changing bag we bought and thought it felt heavier than an empty bag, then I remembered I put all the freebie changing mats we've accumulated in there! We have a LOT of mats now, will try em all and see which is the best:rotfl:
we went with this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Skip-Hop-Dash-Deluxe-Wave/dp/B002UO1LD4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334237251&sr=8-2 though we got it from JL with vouchers we'd been saving0 -
we used the Angel care sound and movement monitor, the only thing to be very aware of with those is how much you will cr*p yourself when it goes off for the first time and you go flying into find baby sleeping quite happily !
Took my heart a good few days to settle down after that first false alarmBow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
Thanks everyone.
I'll need to speak to my OH but I'm not convinced about having a movement monitor as I think it's likely to make me more paranoid rather than less - I'd be paranoid it's not working so won't rely on it anyway and false alarms are likely to drive my paranoia
I'm impressed with everyone's DIY efforts. I'd love to replace the carpets upstairs and the stair carpet but want to redecorate our bedroom before putting down a new carpet and we just don't have the time at the moment.
We did have an electrician in a few weeks ago sorting out the electrics in our utility room and conservatory as he'd disabled some of it in August and it's taken us this long to get him back to fix it all. I'm glad to have it done so I can stop thinking it about it. I wrote a list of the DIY work which needs doing on the house as well as a list of things which need doing before baby arrives which is now pinned to the notice board.
My OH thinks that while he's on paternity leave he can get his parents over with his mum helping with the baby and him and his dad doing DIY stuff. I'm not entirely convinced it'll work out like that as I think I'd like to have quite a bit of just us and baby but we'll see what happens.
Is anyone else getting impatient? I've got 8 weeks until my EDD and although realistically I'd prefer to go to term so baby is fully cookedI would really like to have labour over with now so I can have my mummy cuddles.

I agree (although as with all things lately, I reserve the right to change my mind at any point, and for any reason whatsoever, LOL!)
I think I would get over-paranoid too.
I think if we weren't getting the loft done, so we were just in our normal little bungalow, we'd consider not bothering with a monitor at all, as we'd never be far away from bubs. Now we're going to have an upstairs (how exciting!), though, I think we do need one. We'll prob go for either the Tommy Tippee one that someone linked to above, or a BT one, as they're meant to be good.
Amymo, I LOVE that changing bag!Not too plain, but not so girly that DH would refuse to be seen out with it. Bit pricey though...hmmm. Maybe I'll hang on for a bit and see if anyone wants to buy me one...!
Had my blood test this afternoon, no bother but have a bit of an arm ache now! Rewarded myself with a chocolate bar for being such a big brave girl...

LOL Mrs Manda I am definitely getting impatient for Mummy cuddles!
Blooming vindaloo last night did nothing, and was horrid!! Never again!
I will be sticking to pineapple and bouncing on my ball until LO decides to make an appearance.
So looking forward to hearing from Happy!
Laura I hope your appointment goes well and maybe baby will have turned

Charli82 & MrsManda - me too. Definitely impatient. I am not a patient type to be honest. I sound like a spoilt madam when I say this, but I am not one for surprises. If my other half dares to say he has bought me a surprise present I won't let it go until he tells me what it is (I have been known to get in a strop about such things!
).
I am in week 31 and I know baby is not ready yet, but was saying to a friend earlier today that I have "itchy arms" syndrome (i.e. I can't wait for cuddles). Did you see that OBEM a couple of weeks ago where the girl had a c-section at week 30 (baby was about 2.5lbs and in ICU for ages)? That made me so emotional as at the time of watching it I was only a couple of weeks behind her in baby cooking time.Mortgage at largest: £250,000 _pale_ (March 2006)

No I've been wondering the same myself.
I'm planning on splashing out on the angel sounds monitor as I think it's worth it. I know of someone who's baby's life was saved by theirs.
Just been to the job centre to sign on, very depressing. It's definitely true what people say about them sending you for unsuitable jobs. The lady was showing me a job that was covering mat leave (so prob about 12 months) when I'll only be able to work for four months! I asked her if it was worth applying if I wouldn't be able to see out the contract and her response was "well it says it's a temporary position"
