Morning ladies :hello:
Sorry you haven't slept well lmm. My hips are still sore but I managed to sleep a bit better last night. Think I may have worn myself out with all the worrying and stressing I've been doing
Rash on my arm looks worse today but on the front of my leg looks better so I guess that's evened out. Haven't had the chance to inspect the rest of my body yet....
Looking at the list we had a lot of girls in March and first week in April, think we're due a run of boys now.

Yay yay yay for Happy! :happyhear Thank you for the update Emmy
Looking forward to a detailed update later
Sorry to hear you had another rubbish night LMM - I did too. I can cope with the back/hip pain (just), I can cope with the heartburn (just) and I can even cope with the bizarre dreams...but not all 3 every night!
Hope you feel better today Emsbet - have a great day everyone else - I want to know of anymore changing bag news please!
Oh and I think June will be seeing a good run of boys Emsbet!

Morning all
Congratulations to HappyGood luck to Charli and I'm sorry that so many have had a bad night's sleep. I managed to sleep last night and for the first time in a long time I wasn't awake when the alarm went off
I think today's going to be a bit weird.
Had my 2nd antenatal class last night which was much better than last week's one. Last week we got a lot of information but it felt like we were in a classroom or lecture theatre for 2 hours - there were a lot of people and almost no interaction.
This week the group was smaller (possibly due to last week being a bit dull) and we had a different midwife leading it who managed to get us all asking questions and making comments
As a result of my antenatal class and my 32 week scan appointment at 9am tomorrow I'm not attending my grandad's funeral todayFeeling a bit guilty but I haven't seen him for ~8 years and my family are generally of the opinion that my appointments are more important and to do the trip in one day would be stupid.
I had been planning on getting a train at 7am and coming home on the 8pm train but after getting exhausted just walking the 3 miles round trip into town I'm inclined to agree with my family but it still feels weird not to be with them.
I'm also feeling like I'm a terrible person (you may agree). I discovered this morning that a friend of mine is having a baby in September (well his wife is) and I'm kinda torn about how I feel. It's probably just hormones and I know his wife has wanted a baby for ages but my friend has held his ground until he had a permanent job which he has now got.
But the wife doesn't like me at all (for some reason despite the fact that I've been married for 6 years, they've been married for 4 years and my friend and I have never been more than friends she thinks that given the chance we'll have an affair or run off together) and was generally unhappy when I announced my pregnancy. She's also really competitive and I'm most certainly not (I don't even like winning board games) so not particularly looking forward to hearing how her baby is much better behaved, she breastfed longer, learned to crawl earlier etc....
I guess the plus point is that we don't see them very often so won't have to hear the comments in person (she has a tendency tell our joint friends rather than to my face) and providing everything goes well I should be settled into a routine with my baby beforehand.
Sorry I sound like a horrible person, I don't think I am really and I am happy for my friend and I'll get over the above now I've moaned about it.
32 week scan and obstetrician appointment tomorrow0 -
When's this famous nesting instinct going to kick in? So far, my preparing for the baby involves an awful lot of lying on the sofa eating cornettos."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
-
((hugs)) MrsManda, I'm sure your grandad would understand.
Fluffnutter I'm sure all the cornetto wrappers will make a nice comfy place for baby to sleepI think some people don't get the nesting instinct until really late on.

Yay! Congratulations Happy
Can't wait to hear more!
Good luck Charli - Hope all goes well for you!
MrsManda Your grandad would understand, don't let it get you down. Sorry for your lossRe: the friend, I have one like that who is due end of August and even now she tries to turn everything into a competition... She has been more sick than me, is generally having a harder time and needs more sympathy, she's measuring bigger than me. I tried to be reasonable for a while; asked how she was feeling etc then I got a comment along the lines of how it's easier for me as I already have a child... I now keep my distance
I have enough of competitive mums at the school gate without dragging the unborn one into it all :rotfl:Ignore her as much as you can, all babies are different and progress at different stages, she'll get the message eventually
Fluffnutter I had a week of nesting at about week 26 but since then.... nothing, I am pinning all my hopes on the fact that the baby will love 'organised chaos' :rotfl:
Am off to my mum's today - she bought us baby monitors so am going up to collect them and it will get DS out and about for a bit
Hope all ok

Fluffy you are nesting on the couch with ice cream. It is more important you look after you and LO then worry too much about cleaning. With me it comes in fits and starts first week on maternity leave I did nothing but sit in the garden and recharge my batteries last week I cleaned the kitchen cupboards etc and then this week has been a bit more laid back checking hospital bags bit of online baby bits shopping. One of my pregnancy books even recommends resting over cleaning :-)Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

ooo baby monitors, haven't bought one of them yet (checks it's on my list of things to do). What type has everyone got?
Ginvzt are you still taking iron tablets? I discovered today that one of lesser common symptoms on iron deficient anaemia is tinnitus. - my iron level is exactly the lowest figure it could be before being classed as too low so I've been asked to keep an eye out for symptoms as well as increasing my dietary intake.
I'm sat here waiting for someone from the Open University to turn for a disabled students allowance assessment - she should've arrived at 10:30 and all I want to do is go to bed as I've feel exhausted again. As much as I hate to say it my mum had a point about me not attending the funeral as all I've done today is make sandwiches for my OH, an hour's study and fiddled on the computer and I'm feeling sleepy.
Thanks Jovichick. How can your friend think having another child makes things easier?? Surely having a child to pick up after, keep busy, fed etc... makes life harder when pregnant not easier?0
