My daughter whos EDD is tomorrow was told at her midwife appointment today that baby is back to back and not in the correct position for birth although they said he can turn in labour. They have booked her in to be induced on Tuesday 28th Feb if baby hasn't arrived by then. That means if they do have to induce her she could have him on the 29th which would mean his b'day will be officially every 4 years :rotfl:
She is getting that ache feeling below everytime she stands up and walks and because of his position she has constant back pain.0 -
Hi ladies, just popping in from the 12-24 weeks thread, I'm 22+3 today.
Sorry if this has already been recently discussed (I don't keep uptodate with this thread!) but I was wondering if anyone has/ has had SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) and any suggestions to ease the pain?
Thank you

I do and a few others on here do hun. i have physio tomorow but most ladies are told that they will probably have delivered before the apointment has come thru, i was prescribed co codamol aswel, but i dont like taking them, some days i have to take them or literally cant walk.
another good thing is the v pillow, i use it between my knees when i am sleeping or relaxing on the couch, warm baths help. other than that im not sure on other tips, when i get back from my apointment tomorow i can give more tips based on what she said.0 -

I was told that's what my symptoms are today and have been reading up on it. The worst time is at night - at the moment I get up twice in the night (1.55am and 4.30am almost on the dot!) to go to the toilet and when I get out of bed I get these shooting pains down below that make me cry out. I will get a V shape pillow tomorrow thanks, currently using a normal one between legs at night. Midwife has put referral in to physio but I imagine there is a huge waiting list!

i was refered last tuesday, received a letter friday and they phoned me today with a cancelation. but i live in lancashire and they have just opened an entire new physio unit attached to the birthing unit so the turn around times are alot quicker at the moment.
the v pillows are on offer in lidl at the moment for 6.99 i have heard you can get them on prescription but dont know how true that is.0 -
Just been at the physio today for SPD. Went to see midwife a week and a bit ago, got the referral phone number from her - had an appointment within a week and a half. Lots of poking and prodding today to see what's wrong where - big issue with me is my back's arched out far too much (and the baby's big apparently - eek) but my hips and the like are fairly well balanced still which is good.
Came out with tubigrip to support my bump, a belt to support my pelvis (feel like the spring-loaded Michelin man when I sit down) and crutches to use if I feel the need, just to reduce the amount of weight going through my pelvis... all well and good that they fit you out for all this stuff, send you away with it on the top of yer trousers... except then when you decide to go to the loo before leaving the hospital - you've got two layers of spring loading, crutches to deal with, handbag sliding off yer shoulders and then have to find yer trousers under all of this!
Basically the pain I'm getting started in my hips about 15 weeks and has rapidly transferred to the more stereotypical pain in the bits Michael Jackson used to grab lots - feels like someone's swung a steel toe cap boot up between my legs repeatedly and kicked me in the doo-dah... worse after I've been in one position for a while, much worse over the course of a day, and was really getting me right down in terms of pain and have another 3 months to go of it!
They're fairly quick putting referrals through round here - run a specific "painful ladybits" clinic once a week as well (obviously not called that though) - like I say - I got in within a week and a half.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
thank you for that, i was quite worried about what might happen tomorow, loving the needing the loo bit lol. is the lady bit clinic the womens health and incontinence clinic? i dont know if they will give me crutches or anything but the problem i have is a little bit different, i get the pain inside my floo and in the top of my legs (and knees omg my knees are so sore) but its the peeing a little bit when i cough thats annoying aswel, i dont have feeling in half of the bottom of my tummy where i had a salpinectomy (falopeon tube removed) last year after an eptpic so that bits completley numb.0
