You get rid of most of the poo down the toilet and then just take the insert out of the pocket bit and stick the wrap and the pocket in the washing machine?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-POCKET-NAPPIES-10-x-3-layer-INSERTS-/230746336900?pt=UK_Baby_Baby_Changing_Nappies_LE&hash=item35b98dae84#ht_1019wt_1270
These ones give a much better fit if your thinking of trying.
Because they are fleece lined the poo just sort of peels off when tipped down the toilet, pull out the insert and put them all in a lidded bucket or wetbag until its time to wash them.
That looks like them, but a generic version I think of the BumGenius ones.
Yes, the poo goes down the loo and then you dry pail the dirty nappies until there is enough for a wash (wouldn't surprise me if its everyday), pull the insert out and chuck both parts into the washing machine.
60 degree wash with a pre wash and an extra rinse and you're done. No fabric conditioner and only 1/4th of the normal amount of washing powder/liquid.
They were on my airer overnight and all dry ready to be stuffed by the morning. I would expect they will dry even quicker on the line on a nice windy or warm day

re: temperature.. why 60? I just noted that the ebay seller Ravenlady suggested says:Washing pocket nappies is simple. Once you have a full load separate the outer shell from the insert and wash on a cold or warm cycle up to 30˚c using half the detergent manufacturers recommended amount. Presoaking isn't needed.0 -
I've read different instructions depending on who you ask. I think it depends on how soiled they are as well. Totsbots sell their own detergent called Potion, but most say not to use the full amount as you would with clothes either quarter or half of the usual.
I haven't tried them yet, but my mother used to boil wash my cloth nappies when I will little (back in the 80's!!)Got married 13/11/10

and wondered if iot just depends on the type of nappy..
Hmmm, not sure. The card packaging that they came in states 40 but the care label states 60 so I went with the care label.
I googled them and found several videos on YouTube which were very helpful - MamaNatural I think was one of the posters. Very american but very helpful too
The inserts are like microfibre cloth and the outer nappy part has a fleecy inside. They seem to have come through the double wash fine and are now ready and waiting for Elvis to arrive.Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
I am looking at washable also. Have to say i'm a bit confused. Have deffo abandoned terry towelling. Then discovered there are different types of washables! Which one is best did you guys find?0
-
Has anyone used the liners with the washables? I remember looking at some ebay lots and they included liners. I assumed these would be used on top of your nappy, and then just 'disposed' off with any 'gifts'... Meaning, saves scraping the 'gift' off the nappy down the loo. Or have I got this wrong?
I haven't look much into them, we are starting with the disposables, and I already have 600 size 1, 100 size 2 and about 150 size 3. Have 8 more vouchers from Huggies starter packs to use up, so was going to get few more packs of size 2 and then wait and see. Or am I better getting size 2 ones?.... Or half and half?.... I am lost!!!! (we are having twins, so even though the numbers look big they are not going to last long going on an average estimate of 100+ nappies a week)Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Everyone has their own way of washing them, some do 60 at every wash, some use a PUL safe sanitizer, some soak in disinfectant, some use a powder designed for nappies like rockin green or tots potion.
The reason why they say 30 is because of the water proofing on the covers, mine have been going for about 9 months and not fallen apart with the frequent 60 wash.Little Person Number 4 Due March 2012
