Happy birthday twinklie, and just in case I don't remember tomorrow, Happy Birthday to Laura for tomorrow.

Our pram finally arrived today! :j:T It took us half an hour intially to set it up, make the sun canopy and attach it (took a couple of attempts to get the canopy done - Moon tried first, then I did it, then we attached it to the pram back to front, and had to detach and reattach parts). Then we put the cocoon in and tried to fold it up. We realised the seat was away-facing, so had to detach the cocoon then work out how to detach the seat unit to put it into parent-facing, then reattach the cocoon and fold. This took us another half an hour. Then the fun part - trying to attach the rain cover! Moon and MIL tried first, then I looked at it an realised it wasn't attaching properly as it was back-to-front! :rotfl:Finally got it on and this took a further half an hour of working loops etc out. Luckily now the canopy is on and the seat etc is around the right way, we won't have to worry about that when Bean is born - not looking forward to getting caught in a sudden rainstorm though. We'll definitely need to practice!! It all looks great though, so we're all really pleased with it and MIL is keeping it in her spare room for us until we need it.

    Off to get dinner now.

Hugs to all who need or want them, and labour vibes where appropriate.

I had this yesterday with the HV as well - i was really shocked at some of the questions she was asking - i wasnt sure what to say to some of them at all. Glad this seems to be a routine thing and not something she had made just for me.
I hate the thoughts of people interfering in our lives - am so not a fan of the authorities :)

Firstly, the questions are routine for everyone, so don't worry about that :)

Secondly, you DO NOT have to see a health visitor, or allow them access to your home or your child if you choose not to. It is a voluntary thing and entirely up to you (as is how much information you choose to divulge :D

I think I missed the bit where you get interviewed by the HV? Is that standard? Is it a new thing? I'm pretty sure I didn't get that in previous pregnancies. Won't be at all impressed with a home visit at any stage of the proceedings either

Kitten same here, although OH was with me and asked if there was an issue with domestic violence. I told her not yet but once the hormones kick in who knows what I'll do to him!

I think it was my last pregnancy on here but someone had an embarrassing conversation with the midwife because she had accidently ticked the box stating that her and OH were related.

Good fun catching up with you all today. Had a day off and had a hair cut for the first time since January, feels so much better! was feeling a bit miserable before that, not sure if its because i have been getting up early to take hubby to work as well as not sleeping properly.

Re: work. I always thought that I'd take at least 9 months off and eb an amazing mum and domestic goddess but in reality, having just qualified, I thought I'd be unable to find a job in 9 months time so returning to teaching in Jan 13 only 2 hours a week on a weekend and then planning on starting a new job i interviewed for while 20 weeks pregnant - only 1 day a week but an hour away and if he comes on time, when little man is 10 weeks old - oops!!
I should be eligible for maternity allowance due to my self employment but they asked for payslips for my casual job but the only one i had was May which was about 100£!! waiting til july payday to send off - how long has it taken you all to get a response from maternity allowance??

Happy birthday twinklie and to laura for tomorrow. Was my hubbys tuesday and now he is out tonight with his student friends so could be an interesting night :/ i am missing yummy cocktails it has to be said but also baby moving a lot more today so i know its worth it - even though it does feel like he is trying to push his way out! my next midwife appt is friday 13th - eek!! i did pass my driving test 5 years ago on Friday 13th though so not too worried :D

hugs to all and labour vibes to the boldies!! xx

As for strange questions...the MW asked me and OH at the booking appt if we could be related! We looked at each other horrified! I guess they have to ask though!

It's a standard question now because in some cultures it is completely normal to marry a cousin and have children together etc.

Yes, I think that's standard, but isn't that just to check if you're safe personally from domestic violence? Rebekah's list seems more like checking whether the baby will be once it's arrived.

Ah right I guess so, never thought of it like that. I think it was just because she threw it in there casually after something more standard like "do you have asthma" or whatever. We were both like -->

Yeah I was the same, I asked if they ever get people who say yes and she explained the reasoning behind it.
