LittleMoog wrote: »Kitten, while you've been on SMP your holiday should have accrued as normal plus any bank holidays - count up from when you started, and when you get to 39 weeks, that's how much SMP you get.
I think you should be able to officially "return to work" and take your full years holiday allowance and days in lieu for bank holidays (at normal pay), and then go back on maternity leave for this baby, starting a new period of SMP. The only other issue is your earnings during the "Qualifying Week" which are used to set your wage for the 6 weeks of 90% pay - if you were on SMP during this week (I think week 25?) you won't get 90% of your normal wage, just SMP instead.
That is what I have worked out, with my holiday pay included in the qualifying weeks I will get more than I am currently getting, obviously not full pay but anything is good.
I just want it confirmed so that I can breathe a sigh of relief. I don't want to count on the extra money if we aren't going to get it but £1000 (ish) of holiday pay would be very nice in the savings pot.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Yea trying not to worry. The depression bit im ok with. Just the abuse issues didn't know if right or not to give them amo! So you might have done the right thing. Hey ho just have to be firm with them.
To be honest I completely forgot. I wasn't prepared for all the questions about my familys social history, it's just how it was. I mean we're talking about a complex situation that happened 12 years ago. My dad died 6 years ago, my mum lives 300 miles away and my sister has gone from monster troubled teen to being a good mum herself so the family dynamics are very different now.
I think what it is now, especially after horrific cases like Victoria Climbie there's a lot of safeguarding and identifying children who may be "at risk" and it's horrible to almost be suspected as a potential child abuser just because you had a bit of a rough time as a kid. But they're just doing their jobs.
Just had a major vomiting session, have felt ikky all day, think its the lack of sleep. Am tucked up in bed now hoping to have a nap to feel more human.
I've got a wedding tomorrow so need to feel half decent. :j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Hugs Rebekah, that must have taken some courage. FWIW I think you've done the right thing, they're there to make sure you're ok as well as baby and I guess that's easier for them if they know everything. I'm disappointed she wasn't more sensitive with you though

LMM- the pics are very nice. the detail in them is amazing. did yuo get these done separately? i am going to ask SUCH a dumb question. what is the difference in 3d and 4d? i told DH about the 4d scans and him being a physist said that is impossible. :rotfl:hope you are feeling better now LMM. xxx

It will feel like an age but when you get there you will look back and think where did the time go
On the threads here there are lots of ways to reduce costs etc. I tend to work through a new thread at about 2am most nights. It is amazing how much you can save without thinking about it. My wage has gone down by £1200 a month and I was barely getting by but once you have to it is surprising how much you spend without realising.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

At what point are you planning to have the first visitors when bubba is born? Is anyone going to have the grandparents waiting at the hospital while in labour?
My mum passed away 4 years ago, and my Auntie is like my 2nd mum. We've been discussing over the years how if I ever got pregnant I would want my Auntie in the delivery room with me (bearing in mind I was single all this time!). She told me how excited she was the other day about being at the birth, I havent even mentioned it to OH yet!
Hoping he takes it well otherwise this could be the start of some awkward conversations
LMM those baby photos are great!
OH's - my oh is absolutely fantastic around the house. He works full time and also does most of the housework and since I got my bfp he has been doing the cooking as it makes me feel sick. Im so lucky :T
Ive been feeling sick again the last few days, not actually been sick yet but was hoping the ms had gone for good. Had a rough time with it for the first 16 weeks or so
Hugs for all who need them xx:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -
hmm good idea. think i will be surfing the next a lot to see how i can make money if i dont end up coming back to work. the good thing with my work is apparently HR said i can apply to work from home more, and also go part-time. seems so tempting and that way i will have some money coming in. i am scared that in an argument DH will tell me he pays for us! lolBecame Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

The whole work/stay at home thing is tricky. My mum was a SAHM (as were most peoples mum’s I knew), and I always thought that I would be one day too, but I’ve worked hard to get to where I am now and I really enjoy my job. Plus it’s the sort of field that I think would be hard to get back into if I took a career break. Realistically, we’d struggle on just 1 salary as well. My current plan is to return full time after 9 months maternity, and do at least 6 months of full time (to avoid having to repay any maternity pay
, and best for my job/promotion prospects), but we have the advantage of a fantastic nursery on site and my employer is really family friendly/flexible as well. If I really want more time at home, I’ll drop down to 4 days a week after 6 months. We’re currently thinking that I’ll go part time after number 2 or when number 1 starts school, as it’s so much harder to juggle before/after school clubs, holidays etc than all day nursery care so I may as well take advantage of being able to work full time relatively easily.
