Rups check with your HR lady on maternity pay, staturory maternity pasy is only the first 6 weeks at 90% of your pay and then about £135 a week after that. There's not many places out there now that go above and beyond this, mainly because (as my HR lady told me) the Government doesn't make it worthwhile to the company to do so! The company can claim back stat maternity pay, but nothing else so this is why many places don't offer anything extra. I thought my place was ok to work for too until I found this out - feel very cheated and undervalued!

just sitting at work feeling so grumpy and anitsocial! the sweet girls have asked me to join them for lunch but i just feel so antisocial and one of them is so hyper as well. i am too tired and she is wearing far too much perfume. am i so mean? lol

Rups I'm sure sure how many weeks of SMP you're legally entitled too. I think the legal minimum is 6 weeks at 90% pay then SMP at £135 - well whatever it is. That's all my friends getting so maybe try and see if after six months maybe you might be entitled to some more weeks at SMP rate? But your work seem to offer a generous package compared to some others!
Mine is 8weeks at full or 90% pay (i forget), then 26 weeks half pay then the rest of the year at SMP. So I'm hoping I'll be able to manage the last few months on SMP
Does anyone know the answer....on my letter from my HR dept it states that I am getting the 26weeks at half pay and SMP if entitled. Has anyone else had or heard that, and how/why would I be entitled to both?

My friend went to the hospital this morning for this sweep. Only to be looked at by the consultant and is going in tomorrow for her induction! I think I misunderstood her this morning, but she thought she was going for a sweep. Now I think it's dawned on her that baby is soon going to be here!! :j:j:j:j

Nope - i'm in a bad mood too at the thought of the weather and my housework that needs doing... actually got the right hump about it!

Thanks MMM and LMM, glad to hear it's not just my OH! It does frustrate me though, normally he gets in later than me and I'm often napping on the sofa when he arrives, but before I sit down I've normally sorted the kitchen/washed up if needed and got the dinner prepped, so i'm ready to cook when he gets home. He never makes any effort when he's home first though, pesky boy!

Oh my dayz. That was scary. HV asked about abuse issues, previous depression, if drugs, alcohol etc. Didn't know whether to lie about abuse issues and previous depression but thought that if owt ever did happen would make it worse so divulged. So now I guess we are labled as at risk as the abuser was my dad and he would see little lady. Made if very clear though that he is in no state to do anything as he has parkinsons disease and is somewhat decrepid! She asked if he would ever be alone with her and I said no. Bet she thinks i'm going to go mad after the birth as I have no support network either. Ah well. At least she isn't worrying about me and hubby as we are sound but wanted to know if he had previous abuse issues etc as well...

Think the main thing was I wasn't prepared for the barrage of questions on a 1st visit! Maybe they got info from my Gp's notes or something. And the depression had been flagged up by the maternity notes. Who knows. At least I told no fibs

phew i feel a bit better about the housework bit too as i havent touched stuff in weeks and it bugs me. to be fair to DH, he cooks, but the mess that comes with that, i normally have to clear up. other than that, i will ask him to hoover up and have NEVEr seen him mop the kitchen or bathroom floor. so irritating.

also feel so irritated right now. think as work has been busy and clients having been emailing me left right and centre, i feel a bit stressed and i know its not good but i have this horrid headache too.

my OH asked me to get out of bed to make his dinner on Monday, considering I was meant to be resting cos of my back I went mad and screamed at him lol.
