lol thank goodness she didnt ask me if me and hubby where related or i'd have laughed in ure face :) She prob is convinced im a battered wife cause of how i reacted but she really caught me unawares - i thought she was here to have a peek at my nursery and lovely baby things not for me to take part in a quiz lol was bad enough i had to tidy for the ole bat calling :) is good to know its normal though.

    Hey everyone.

My midwife asked about any mental health issues that I have/run in my family and I forgot to tell her that I have Borderline Personality Disorder.:o Ooops. I just don't like disclosing it in real life so I guess I'm used to not mentioning it unless I'm talking to my psych or CPN.:o I did mention my severe anxiety and OCD though but now not sure if I should mention the Borderline Personality.:o I really don't want our baby to be taken from us if I mentioned it. That happened to a friend of mine.:(

There's also a history of abuse running in my family but I haven't got asked about that yet and I was lucky to get away from it and start a new life for myself. I have nothing to do with my family anymore.

Now for good news, I won £250 on Bingo. :D

would you be able to talk to your CPN about your worries? I'm thinking she must have other pregnant ladies on her caseload with similar health issues/worries. I think I remember you saw her the other day, have you discussed how you'll manage your mental health issues with a baby.
I only know one person with a personality disorder and to be honest I'm not sure what type etc. We're friends, but not that close IYSWIM. She had a baby and it was all very messy, she was a student so probs with uni, housing and her OH left very soon after the birth. I know she struggled after birth and did send a short time as an impatient in a mental health unit I think sadly under section. Her son is now 4, she never lost custody of her boy. Although she has a mum and sisters nearby who looked after him and were able to support her. I know you don't have your family in your life, but hope you have people to support you. Your hubby sounds amazing in supporting you too.
What my long ramble was trying to say, is that I think taking baby away is the last resort unless they really think baby will be in danger. But I think your CPN might be a better contact to discuss your worries and would prob talk to your midwife and give her more indepth info about how you cope now and how it is managed etc. I know it's worrying, I went to my midwife/GP last week as feeling very down with reduced mobility, isolation etc and some of my old crazy, manic habits are starting to reappear. But I was reluctant to admit incase they think I'll be an unfit mother, but I'm hoping we can work to sort some of the issues out now. Although until baby comes my hips will still be kaput. Feel free to come on here and talk whenever you need too.
Mrs Student congrats on your job, will keep your skills going especially as you've just finished :) glad your haircut has made you feel better, always nice to have a bit of spoiling.

So OH wanted his dirty kebab and got me some chicken and salad. Didn't get to finish it before I was vomiting again. Not sure what it is all about :( my tummy was feeling too empty too sleep so just eaten a banana so will wait a little bit before I lie down to sleep. Touch wood a decent nights sleep and I'll be back to normal tomorrow. Saying the the cat was happy to eat the chicken off my plate while I was being sick! Must have though it was her birthday!
Well it must be bedtime. Big hugs to those who need them and labour vibes to the boldies :)

It was. It was with Foxy Bingo. :D

I've spoken to my CPN and psych. I'm physically disabled too but they said that because I have alot of support around me i.e. DH and DH's family that I'm not "at risk" if that makes sense? I know that I have a higher risk of Post Natal Depression due to my already existing mental health problems though.
I haven't discussed it with her because she hasn't really asked. She's a bit condescending, to be honest.:o

I was taken away from my mum when I was a baby but that was because she has learning difficulties and didn't know how to look after me and I was neglected. Social Services have been in and out of my life since birth until 18. There has been alot of Social Services involvement in my family, to be honest. My auntie was in foster care, her son was in foster care and my half sister was in foster care and then adopted and I was in foster care as a baby and then from age 14. It does go further than neglect with us all though but I don't feel that comfortable talking about it.:o

I don't want my midwife/HV to think that just because there is a "cycle" in my family, that I'm going to carry it on because the cycle most definitely does stop with me!

  • Sounds like you do have a lot of support :) hopefully if it does come up with the midwife etc you can just say you had a rough start but none of the people are around now. Feels bit carp that you will have to persuade them of stuff. But you have your existing CPN/pysch who will be able to keep an eye on you anyway.

I wouldn't say I was bought up in a particularly abusive house or anything but if I explained it all it could sound very bad, especially as my sister got taken into care until she left at 19. I don't think any of that has any relevance to today. I have my own ideas of how to bring up our children and my OH is very different to my dad. Doesn't drink, (well puts a dash of Baileys I his chocolate milkshake before bed) so that's a better start to begin with! ;)

Right I must try and sleep tonight, hope you manage to get some rest too Hun xxx

Just de-lurking while doing the night feed!!

I was asked very randomly at booking app 'do you have your clitoris pierced?' I nearly laughed in her face but she said it so seriously! I suppose they need to know for the birth? Or maybe I just look the type as when I went through my notes, that particular question wasn't even in there.........

    Hope everyone is ok!

MrsBryan - yes, I had to remove mine whilst in labour with DD1. Luckily didn't get it redone! Haven'tbeen asked about it in subsequent pregnancies though and I seem to remember I brought it up the first time, pretty sure it wasn't a routine question.

Hehe now wondering what 'type' you need to look lol

Baby has been going mad for three hours now. I know decrease in foetal activity is a concern but what about an increase?
