I can tell that people are shocked by our name choices but I don't care...just because I don't want to call my child Harry, Oliver, James, George, Harrison, Daniel, Luke etc it does not make me a hippy.

OH has a really unusual name and my name is not very common either so we both like it that we didn't often come across our namesakes! I love OH name so much I would love to use that but I can't stand the thought of Little X or X Jnr *shudders* although I am named after my Dad, just the feminine form of his name but the nicknames once you shorten them down change the vowell sounding so no problems with knowing who is being called out for / spoken too... the only thing is when I lived at home he used to open my post because a quick glance and he thought it was for him!

DH and I have always guessed if we'll have a boy or girl before we go for the scan, and then once we know whoever guessed the gender right gets to pick the name. This is the first time I've been right, so he picked both our children's names. Finally my turn now though! I think I have already decided on a name, unless I change my mind when she comes out. The kids are getting to pick the middle name (if they can ever come to an agreement) so that could be interesting :D

LittleMoog - glad the scan went well :)

Fluffnutter - good luck for the sweep.

yes names are hard to choose. I mean mine is so typical Sikh (Rupinder) and DH is David, and I don't want a name that is well known - if you know what I mean? I want a nice unsual name. I know whatever we choose will be an issue with my side or his but I don't care. well both of us can't seem to agree on any at the mo anyway, so that is not a good start!

I'm really stuggling with names, i really dont want to name the baby a name that someone i know has got. Again when i say a name, dd says i've got a molly at nursery. We only decided on DD name in the hospital, we hadnt even thought of girls names so OH was sat on his phone ready out names, and we only came up with her middle name as a song was playing when she was born so chose that.

Clarissa and AMC - also due 20/07 and also a boy....and also a warm yellow nursery!

Couldn't sleep last night, so sat on the ipad reading, came across a website I really like. Good article for anyone with birth fears: http://www.bellybelly.com.au/birth/child-birth-top-12-fears

A lot of the articles on the website are very much in the same few with our midwifes, so nice to read it all again and refresh the stuff we learnt in the antenatal classes.

Nearly New Sale(Not NCT) on 8 July for anyone in Manchester area, trying to get DH to take me: http://www.recycle4children.co.uk/nw/manchesterstalybridge-west-hill-high-schl-p-61.html?osCsid=177901cb7c6c836c271089ab90423933

We've had a name picked out since our 20 week scan, we had chatted about names for a few weeks before and as we walked out the scan knowing he was a boy we both looked at each other and said the name. His middle name is one from DHs family, first born males all have the same middle name.

Nappies - I'd recommend not getting too many size 1s to start with, esp if you're having a big baby, and use the vouchers for sizes you know for sure you'll need (e.g. 3 or 4). My LO weighed 8lbs 6oz and size 1 lasted for around 4 weeks, which at 8-10 nappies a day works out at... (insert number here, baby brain has taken over!). Shape of baby matters as well as weight - my LO's legs are quite chunky (in a cute and cuddly way of course!...) and that was the main reason we switched to size 2 - size 1s were starting to look too tight and uncomfortable around her thighs.

Edit: we also have waaay too many size 2 - think we'll be switching to size 3 at 10 weeks-ish....
