Saw the GI consultant and now on top of all my medication for reflux I need to take ometrazole (sp) as well. I did confirm it twice as I thought that rinitadine and ometrazole were the same....

Omeprazole and ranitadine work in different ways. They both work to reduce stomach acid but do it differently. Omeprazole's one of a class of drugs called protein pump inhibitors whilst ranitidine (interestingly) is a type of antihistamine I believe (although not the type that you'd take for hayfever).

Omeprazole's great stuff. I've been using it for years for acid reflux and it's been a life saver (in fact it quite literally is a life saver - since PPIs came on the market, perforated ulcers are really rare).

I missed my calling as a pharmacologist.... :D

Right, off for a 'tickle your fancy' from the midwife. They're brutal though, aren't they - midwives. I see them as the Geoff Capes of the nursing world :D

Can I confess that I have yet to buy a single nappy? :o The only offers I've come across have been on size 4 upwards, and I just don't have room to store them, knowing they won't get used for a while. I don't mind buying sizes 1, 2, or 3, just haven't found a good enough offer (or maybe I'm in a tiny bit of denial....ahem).

Despite already having 2 girls, DH and I agreed on some girls name ideas straight away (Zoe, Imogen, or Merryn). Of course it turns out we're having a boy and we're really struggling to find ones we both like, and that go with our surname. We had a shortlist of 4 but I'm starting to get bored with them already, plus they're not totally unusual so I'm worried there'll be several of them in the same school if you see what I mean.

rjh - if you move down to Dorset you'll be near me! Didn't think anyone on here ventured this far down south :rotfl:

fluff - hope your cervix is 'favourable' and so the sweep is not too uncomfortable.

Griggsy, is it omeprazole you've been given? If so it's fab stuff :T

Ikkle - I believe Next do maternity trousers in XL? Not a problem I have mnyself (even petites are too long for me lol) but I remember my SIL had to get hers from there as she's a 32" leg. She had to get them online but it was a while ago now so that may have changed.

Thanks but it was Cakes4Brains asking hun. I've a 33" inside leg but like I say still in pre-pregnancy clothes and they aren't feeling uncomfy so will probably stick with them for the foreseeable now.

My DH has asked me to ask on here about prams in the sense that the shop where we bought ours basically makes it up for you and he wanted to know if this is normal as he would rather do it himself (dont ask why). Also if the shop you got it from did make it up did you get the box it came in?

Our pram was delivered to the house in the boxes, so we had to construct it. Top tip - DON"T try and do this when you are a little bit overtired and it's 10pm - cue massive toddler style tantrum and crying fit when I couldn't collapse it first go.

They don't dry out if you keep them stored in a suitable place hun, I've got loads of packs in storage and actually got a pack out the other day to use for something and they are still nice and moist.

Nappies don't tend to go out of date hun, if you had a pack opened and left for 3 years in a cupboard then they would probably be of no use due to drying out/absorbing any moisture in the air etc. If you were to buy now though ready for the baby they wouldn't expire before you got round to using them.

My guess is that as rups mum works for the NHS this is why she has heard the go out of date as they have to be over cautious. Its not because they expire, but as with plasters etc the stick tends to be less sticky :)
