No hunni, you can't hurt him. He's got loads of fluid around him thats nice and soft and squidgy to protect him :) x

Thanks ikkle! I feel much better now you've said that. It's getting to the stage where my jeans are now getting tight so though bending over and them digging in, may have had some effect.

Must buy some new clothes :)

Hello everyone, today is day 1 of maternity leave. Feels really strange getting up after hubby!! Had a really busy weekend and really tired so today will be a relaxing one. Still need to pack hosp bag and now at 37+3 days.

Hoping the rain doesn't come as I need to walk to the supermarket with my 'granny' wheelie bag!!!

    10th on the list!! Scary!!

Clarissa we're due on the same day, the 20th, both boys! You are 9th and I'm 10th on the list now ... eep!

I also haven't packed my hospital bag so am going to do that now. In fact I need a smaller one for the baby. I bought Lansinoh breast pads off Amazon, also got maternity pads from there but seem to have misplaced them so will have to search. Trouble is the upstairs is a bit of a tip as my husband's started doing some re-plastering in the spare room so he can paint the room a warm yellow colour for baby. I'm really grateful he's taking Thurs & Fri off work to decorate, so I won't be alone, I am going a bit stir crazy at the moment!

That will be the extent of the decorating though, we're not going overboard. I've also ordered a Mr Benn small lampshade off Amazon for the room – but to be honest the lampshade is really for my husband rather than the baby :D He also wants to get Ivor the Engine, Mr Benn, Clangers DVDs for the same reason. In theory for baby, but really for him! I can't talk, I've had a Bagpuss DVD for years ...

We've also got a new washing machine coming on Sunday to deal with all the dirty baby clothes as the old one is rubbish. It's all happening!

P.S. As for who felt scared about labour – that was me as well, but I know I have to face the inevitable, after all, this baby is only coming out one way!
  • Hello!

    Hope everyone is ok
Ikkle glad you're feeling a bit better today.
LittleMoog hope you enjoy your scan and not too tempted to find our which team youre on
Emsbet maybe trying to jot down times he's most active? I guess the worry is you might forget to write then look back later and worry. I don't mean every kick but like say he has a mad half hour of kicking about you could maybe write the time? Maybe you might see a rough pattern. I'm not sure mine has a pattern, normally food related though! He's often quiet when my sister is here as she's so desparate to feel him move, she bought 3kg of sweets last time to get him to kick! Have you spoken to your midwife about your worries? Or are you having anymore scans? Tbh I worry that I won't notice if he's quiet, I don't really measure his movements. Since his performance, or lack of, on Saturday he's been very active
Rups I was embarrassed to tell my mum I was pregnant and telling some people. I know we've been together for a long time and living together (not married :o ), but still I guess people knew what we'd been up to! But I've never been embarrassed about the bump, enjoy it :) I've had some people ask if I'm gonna wear short tops etc. er....I didn't wear them before hand and no way now would I wear things so my belly hangs out!
    Moneypenny congrats and welcome!

I have to drs this afternoon. Not really looking forward to it and I have no idea what to say. I don't want to go and look like an idiot or burst into tears. OH and my mum are very keen for me to start antidepressants, I am not so sure. I know being this teary and sad all the time isn't good for the baby. I guess I always thought when I was pregnant I would be blooming and energetic when I'm stuck indoors, not walking much and really not energetic. Feels very very ungrateful to say I'm depressed really when, touch wood, my baby boy is very bouncy and healthy.

Anyway enough doom and gloom, think I'll go in search of some brunch :)
Hugs to all that need them and labour vibes to the boldies xx

welcome moneypenny. :) hope you are well! congrats!

The weather is making me feel bleurgh and i just feel tired today. need to buy some maternity tights as my usual ones are annoying now. Thanks for the reassurance message sexymouse. was slightly worried. yesterday my bro was saying how my niece wasnt growing much but that could be also that my sis in law was so small when pregnant. they had to keep going for scans to check she was ok. what a scary time though!

Thanks, I have been toying with the idea of writing them down but I worry that I'll get obsessive about it and if he doesn't move one day around that time I'd panic.

((hugs)) the doctor won't think you're an idiot. It's best to be as open and honest with him as you can be so that he can help you.

Quick question, just want to see if anyone else is aware of this, or whether its changed.

When i had DD 4 years ago, i was living in St Helens and used to visit the surestart, at one of the Health visitor checks, must have been before she was one. We got 2 free piece of safety eqiptment (2 gates). I cant find anything on the website about this, so not sure if it still happens or if it was just a st helens thing?

I'm not scared of labour per se, I'm scared that when the baby is here and handed to me I won't love him.
Same here, I am worried that I will compare her too much to the boys and subconsciously take it out on her. OH and Counsellor know my fears and will support me should that happen.

I was offered GA in theatre and although the skin to skin contact wasn't an issue I really wanted OH with me and he would have to leave if I went under. I did have lots of drugs in me and kept falling asleep, OH thought I was dying because he didn't know it was ok if I dropped off as long as I woke up to push. (This was an additional worry that no OH should have to deal with, if in a similar position let him know it is ok)

Mini_cub seems to push when I have lots of sugar, unfortunately it means that I have been having much more sugar and sweets in my diet that usual.

hehe... i weighed myself and i seem the same. i know gaining weight is sometimes indicative of the baby growing, but people can lose weight or stay the same too right?

Hi Rups, I lost weight in first trimester due to morning sickness/not eating much for about 8 weeks. I'm 21 weeks tomorrow, and I've finally started to gain weight - 3lb last week  Still not back to where I started, but when I asked midwife about it she said not to worry as long as I was eating a reasonable amount and not going crazy with exercise, Beanie should be growing fine. I've got a definite bump, so baby obv growing.
