Having just bent over to pick up something I dropped, is it possible to 'hurt' baby? 17+0 so baby is quite small still but could bending over cause any damage (i.e. broken bones)?

Possibly a silly question but I don't want to think I've done something bad :(

No hunni, you can't hurt him. He's got loads of fluid around him thats nice and soft and squidgy to protect him :) x

Morning everyone, hope your all well?

I'm feeling much better, I can't stand up or walk without it hurting still but am a lot more comfier. :)

KatyLiz my midwife in Ripon didn't even answer the phone midweek never mind weekend lol, she was even late to my booking in appt. The Leeds midwives, at the hospital especially are amazing, I tend to have an appointment every two weeks so have a few different numbers so I can always get hold of someone.

My nan (not the poorly grandma) came with me to the hospital as OH was at work and she got to hear bubs heartbeat, one of the midwives is also an old family friend so nan was having a good old natter and finding out about who is going to be on the new OBEM lol, apparently some families have been decided on. :)

Hello everyone, today is day 1 of maternity leave. Feels really strange getting up after hubby!! Had a really busy weekend and really tired so today will be a relaxing one. Still need to pack hosp bag and now at 37+3 days.

Hoping the rain doesn't come as I need to walk to the supermarket with my 'granny' wheelie bag!!!

Re~useable breast pads - Anyone using and/or made their own?

I'm going to use them, my sister has a set that she's going to lend me - they were no good for her though as she was a heavy leaker! :rotfl: So I'll have some disposables in the house in case they don't suit me either. I think hers are bought not made though.

We've got our 20 week scan this afternoon, so excited to see Beanie again. DH is under strict instructions not to let me crack and find out the sex, I really don't want to know, but I know that being able to find out will be really tempting! :rotfl:

MIL rang last night after DH had gone for a lie down with a headache. 40 minutes of "all this baby stuff is so different to when I had my boys". It was 30 years ago !!!!!!! of course things have moved on! aargh!

She keeps mentioning buying baby stuff every time she goes to the shops, which is lovely of her, but I asked her if she could send me a list to make sure I don't double purchase, and she said she wants it all to be a surprise! She's also knitting for us (also lovely) but won't tell me what sizes she's making. I'm also knitting, and I don't want to waste time making loads of stuff that won't get used. She winds me up something chronic, I'm so glad we live 45mins away from home and she can't drive :o *feels bad*

Morning ladies. how are you all? hope everyone had a fab weekend.

I have to go back to read posts from friday evening onwards as had vanished for the weekend. :)

i did my 5k walk yesterday and i managed to walk that in just less than an hour. Then later i was worried that i was too tired and had done the baby harm. please tell me i was silly. :)

other than that, had the usual side pains and feeling tired this morning too. can;t wait for maternity but it's so far away yet!

got angry at my mum yesterday, as we did the race for life together with other relatives and even though iwas in baggy sports gear, she kept telling me to 'cover' up and hide the little bump so the other relatives ddidnt see. i dont knw why she is so worried about people knowing now! she says they will talk! so what? grrr

sorry morning rant. i am tired and grumpy! :(

    Morning ladies.

I've read back but I just can't remember much except viloin playing midwives and birth fears.

Did I read that right Mishka? The midwife played happy birthday on a violin?! Crazy!

Darn it I can't remember who wrote about fear of giving birth.... I guess you can see from all the responses that it's a perfectly natural fear. For me my fear isn't of giving birth or the pain but more of something going wrong. I also have a big fear of general anesthetic so I'm hoping I won't have to have an emergency c-sec where there isn't enough time for an epidural. Of course if I need one then I will have one but that is something that plays on my mind.

I've been having quite an emotional few day. All hormone related I'm sure. I have been worrying that although I can tell if little man is quiet I don't really know his pattern of movements properly. I know he has a little wiggle in the morning and a proper thrashing around in the evening but I'm not really sure of when he's moving around in the day. Sometimes when I wake up in the night he will move around but not always. TBH I think he moves a lot less than other babies, he'll probably make up for it when he's born ;) Baby was quiet on Saturday, he was moving around but it was more a kick here or a punch there and when he did move it seemed a lot fainter than normal. I started to get a bit concerned but then after we had tea (cheeky Dominoes at 9:30pm!) he went mental for about an hour. I know that he will have quiet days and busy days (yesterday was the complete opposite and he was moving a lot) but I don't know how I'm supposed to tell the difference between a quiet day and there being something wrong, especially when he's not a big wriggler anyway.

On a more positive note, mum my came to visit yesterday to finally buy the Moses basket as she wanted to get it. So we got that, two sheets and a blanket (already have some bedding), some bibs and a mobile. My sister is going to get the bouncer for us so I found one I wanted that didn't cost much and she's going to get that. The only other bigger item I want to get now is a baby gym. The rest is just bits and bobs, mostly for me for hospital.

Anyway enough of my waffling off to do the list.

Hope we here some baby news from all the boldies soon :)

    xx

LM, good luck today at your scan :)

Rups, I'm sure little beanie is fine :) If anyone told me to cover up my bump I'd be doing the exact opposite and wearing the tightest clothes I could find ;)

Breast Cancer Survivor, I don't think you look big. I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and I think I look a similar size, just a different shape bump. Good luck at your growth scan.

I bought a pair with my nursing bra (which is doing quite well as a maternity bra, figured if I needed to get a bigger bra now already, which I do, it might as well double up as a nursing bra). I got the same brand as the nursing bra and they look good but no idea how well they'll work! Lorna Drew here: http://lornadrew.com/breast-pads/ (I also really like the bra I got from them)
