thanks emsbet,
i know that feeling. i hate being told about it and get more annoyed. later we had a discussion with DH there at my mums, how years and years ago, in the Indian culture, people didnt show off bumps and hid them and covered them with shawls and scarves and even telling eldery people was embarrassing. seriously!!! now we live in the modern times and its not like i am walking around wearing a tank top and revealing my belly. i had to tell my mum that i dont care of people find out!
breastcancer survivor your bump is beautiful.i keep stroking my little one.
hehe... i weighed myself and i seem the same. i know gaining weight is sometimes indicative of the baby growing, but people can lose weight or stay the same too right?

I also have a big fear of general anesthetic so I'm hoping I won't have to have an emergency c-sec where there isn't enough time for an epidural. Of course if I need one then I will have one but that is something that plays on my mind.0

I think this is what I worry about more as well, I don't really want to be knocked out at the last minute, as it would ruin following skin-to-skin contact and all that. So far that's all I've thought about and will leave strict instructions with OH about what to do if that happens! Am I right though if it is really an emergency OH won't be allowed in theatre either as he won't be scrubbed up?
Yes that's another thing I worry about, that if I have a GA I won't be able to bond with baby properly. I think if you have to have a GA then partners have to wait outside.

emsbet I am having the same worries with movements. My baby very rarely moves much during the day, often not at all. Then about 8-9pm she will wriggle and kick a bit, but that's it. If I happen to be awake in the night she seems to be active then. I find it scary that I wouldn't know if something was going wrong. Both of my kids were crazy kickers and compared to them this pregnancy feels very strange. I'm trying not to stress though, as I worry enough already.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800

I don't know if it's the same everywhere but I was reading in the hospital yesterday that if mum is sedated and so can't do skin to skin then they ask the dad to do skin to skin contact instead.
I'm not scared of labour per se, I'm scared that when the baby is here and handed to me I won't love him.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Hi Laides,
hope you all had a fab weekend, I don't have the time to read back over the 15+ pages that have happened over the weekend so sorry if I missed anything significant other then general chit chatter??
Fluff - Have you got that baby out yet? I know its not too late just yet but I'm excited to find out if it is pink or blue!
Rups - Not sure I could listen to my mum tell me to cover up a 15 week bump because people would talk...you are married so it isn't even like you are living in sin (like me!)lol
Emsbet - Try not to worry too much about the movement, I have been able to feel mine for weeks and weeks (am just over 20 weeks now) but only feel him move now and again... not even everyday...although I can feel when he is tap dancing on my bladder, but only becuase I get a sharp pain followed by the need to wee urgently lol!
So... I'm 20+ 2 now, my Dad is getting impatient with the waiting which is making me, Mum and OH laugh. He said it feels like somebody has already told him what his Xmas present is but making him wait for it... he really is funny!!!:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -
ikkle, a friend of mine said that when she had her baby she was shocked that she didn't feel the overwhelming sense of love the first time she saw her baby. She said in fact it took her a few days to start to feel it. Having spoken to other people they have said that it is a misconception that every woman feels that overwhelming rush of love when they first meet their baby and that can make some women feel terrible. I can take time to build up that bond.
KatyLiz, I think I might mention it to my midwife when I see her next in a couple of weeks. I think it's best to trust your instincts and if you are worried call the maternity unit.

Dissibubba, I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and I do feel little man everyday, which I should be at this stage, I just think he's a bit lazy and also I keep forgetting that my anterior placenta probably masks some movements. I am just unsure of how I can tell whether he's just being lazy or I should worry.

Yes emsbet :rotfl: some nutbar of a midwife played happy birthday to the baby just after it was delivered ! Only in America
As for re-usable breast-pads, I invested in a couple of pairs but found they couldnt keep up with the leakage, does anyone remember that Will & Grace episode from years back - Grace bought a water filled bra to give her bigger boobs, it ended up with a puncture and leaked everywhere ? Heres the link if you are bored, start at about 9min in . . . . anyway, that was me at timesused to have to change my pads several times an hour some days !
Have a busy start to the week this week, 28 week check up this afternoon with midwife, new sofa tomorrow (eeeeeeeee soooo excited) sports day for littlest on wednesday, then nothing to do for the rest of the week :j

ah thanks dizsie.
i knw how crazy is that? when i tell DH he gets sooo annoyed! he says we can do what we want and i agree. i just normally 'listen' to my mum but nowadays the sillier she gets, i tend to say stuff in return! stupid tradions!
.
oh gosh reading about the stuff about being under GA is really weird. I was so scared when i had my MC and had that ERPC (always get the order of letters wrong?) and i kept asking everyone whether i would wake up again! its so silly but i was scared. another major point is the contact and then DH not being there! that's sounds so unfair!hadnt even thought of that. I know people have said about the movements varying but i am sure that will be something that WILL no doubt worry me too when i get there!
