Hi to everyone, I started reading this thread yesterday and wondered if I can join? I'm due 5th October, so just past 25 weeks We were told by the sonographer that we're definitely having a girl, but then when I looked at my notes she had written 'gender not certain, likely female'. We are assuming it'll be a girl though!

I already have an 8 year old and a nearly 6 year old, but the whole baby experience seems a long time ago now. I am very nervous about this pregnancy (and driving my hubby crazy) as I've had miscarriages over the last couple of years. I'm trying to be more confident now I'm slowly getting further along though.

I don't know anyone else who is pregnant, so I'm hoping it'll be nice to come on here and let out any emotions/frustrations.

Hi everyone,
After being nagged for weeks (months!) by my OH for constantly checking this forum, I thought I'd better stop stalking and introduce myself.

This is our first baby (yey!) and it is due on 21st September 2012. we don't know what we're having (other than it looks suspiciously like a baby!) and I would like to keep it that way if possible!

Welcome KatyLiz and SamW :wave: I will add you to the list above KatyLiz, there are unfortunately a fair few of us who have had loses previously, myself included, so there are lots of people about who understand your anxiety and you will find lots of support here.

I didn't need to book any appointments - my MW simply told me when my next one is each time I saw her. As for scans, my hospital was sending out letters giving me dates and times. I think my MW must have been requesting them.

Welcome to the newbies!

I'm planning to do a wash and some sewing and then home made pizza for tea. DH is off next week so need to make a long list of things for us to do - my hospital bags being the priority. I have most of the things now but can't seem to get organised and put them in bags. Does anyone know where to buy a cheap thin nightgown, preferably black or navy blue? I'm size 18 so Primark is out. I tried Tesco's and George but they only do light colours.

I got my nightgown from mothercare, it is in dark navy and is a nursing nightdress so can be used after. I used it last time and it was fine, still looks good as new and came with a dressing gown too. (not overly cheap but we had vouchers and was in the sale so affordable) Currently in my hospital bag ready for round 2

Thanks for the welcome emsbet, sorry to hear about your past losses. I am finding this pregnancy both mentally and physically hard, but it'll all be worth it in the end if everything turns out ok. Hello to my fellow newbie SamW as well

Re stretchmarks - I've always thought that they are just down to genetic luck. I used cocoa butter every day when I was pregnant with my first, but I still looked like a giant zebra by the end of it. I haven't bothered since, I've just accepted I'll never be wearing a bikini again!

Also it's interesting to see how much everyone's MW appointment schedule varies. I've seen mine at weeks 8, 14, 18, 24 and it goes 2 weekly from 27 weeks. I've also seen the obstetrician at weeks 10 and 20, and will see her 4 weekly from 28 weeks, plus have 4 weekly growth scans on the same dates. All my appointments are booked for me, so I never have to worry about remembering to book.

In my last pregnancy (birth Oct 11) I was covered in huge angry stretchmarks however at 28weeks (June 12) they have almost disappeared. Sure yours will too.

I am expecting them to make an appearance again soon though.
