Welcome KatyLiz and SamW  I will add you to the list above
KatyLiz, there are unfortunately a fair few of us who have had loses previously, myself included, so there are lots of people about who understand your anxiety and you will find lots of support here.
Sami_bee, I'll remove the fb details now too

I got a list of appointments at my 16 week appointment, it seems you still book them one at a time though. So I've got my scan booked now, and then after that I need to book a 25 week check with the midwife. It is region specific.
I didn't need to book any appointments - my MW simply told me when my next one is each time I saw her. As for scans, my hospital was sending out letters giving me dates and times. I think my MW must have been requesting them.
Welcome to the newbies!
I'm planning to do a wash and some sewing and then home made pizza for tea. DH is off next week so need to make a long list of things for us to do - my hospital bags being the priority. I have most of the things now but can't seem to get organised and put them in bags. Does anyone know where to buy a cheap thin nightgown, preferably black or navy blue? I'm size 18 so Primark is out. I tried Tesco's and George but they only do light colours.
Have a nice Sunday!0 -
I got my nightgown from mothercare, it is in dark navy and is a nursing nightdress so can be used after. I used it last time and it was fine, still looks good as new and came with a dressing gown too. (not overly cheap but we had vouchers and was in the sale so affordable) Currently in my hospital bag ready for round 2Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Thanks for the welcome emsbet, sorry to hear about your past losses. I am finding this pregnancy both mentally and physically hard, but it'll all be worth it in the end if everything turns out ok. Hello to my fellow newbie SamW as well
Re stretchmarks - I've always thought that they are just down to genetic luck. I used cocoa butter every day when I was pregnant with my first, but I still looked like a giant zebra by the end of it. I haven't bothered since, I've just accepted I'll never be wearing a bikini again!
Also it's interesting to see how much everyone's MW appointment schedule varies. I've seen mine at weeks 8, 14, 18, 24 and it goes 2 weekly from 27 weeks. I've also seen the obstetrician at weeks 10 and 20, and will see her 4 weekly from 28 weeks, plus have 4 weekly growth scans on the same dates. All my appointments are booked for me, so I never have to worry about remembering to book.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -

In my last pregnancy (birth Oct 11) I was covered in huge angry stretchmarks however at 28weeks (June 12) they have almost disappeared. Sure yours will too.
I am expecting them to make an appearance again soon though.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

I've been using dermamum body butter, which is lovely and thick. I'm not sure anything will stop you getting them if you are going to but it can't hurt to keep bump lovely and moisturised

I can't keep up with this thread anymore!
Huge congratulations to those who've given birth and welcome to the newbies!
Nightgown - I bought a navy blue one from BHS (not maternity, just got a bigger size), think it cost £9.
Stretch marks - I used Sanctuary Spa mum to be stretch mark oil (from Boots) morning and evening and loved it. Wasn't keen on the smell of Bio Oil, but the SS one smells lovely - oh, and I didn't get a single stretch markAs others have said, I obviously don't know if this was due to the oil, but like Emsbet said, no harm in keeping Bump nice and mosturised

The inlaws came and were so pleased to see the scan pictures. been feeling moody with DH as he has been annoying me (just hormones) and he had a go at me when i said i would LOVE to find out the sex of the baby as he doesnt want to know, so he was saying 'you are not finding out'. errr isnt it my baby too? i wont tell him and wont let slip, but i want to know. so then later il said she has a feeling it will be a boy and i just said i would like a girl but wouldnt mind in the end as a healthy baby is more important and then DH said he wants a boy and ijust shouted that if we are meant to have a girl we will! His mum said i was a bit harsh but in a jokey way. oops... why are men so annoying?? maybe its me?
is it still normal to have period type pains? i had an umcomfy belly earlier but its better now and that right pain still
xx
Hey Rups,
My DH and I had the same problem - I wanted to know and he didn't. In the end we went for a compromise. We decided that if the baby showed us naturally on the scan then we were meant to know if not then it would be a surprise. We told the sonographer that when she got to the area where the 'bits' would be, or not, to let us know but not to say what we were having. In the end baby complied (bum in the air for all to see) and as there were no bits just a line we assumed girl which we then had confirmed (although they say you can never be 100% sure with a girl, but at our last two growth scans they have said girl). I think in some ways it was easier doing it this way as it kind of meant neither of us got our way (well I sort of did but it was baby girls doing).
My DH was shocked at first as he thought it would be a boy and he just kept saying ' but I dont know what to do with a girl'. Now he keeps telling everyone that she is going to be 'daddys little princess' and he has been reading up as much as he can on pregnancy and what to do after baby is born.. In fact I haven't really read anything and he's been the one to nest so to speak.
Re pains. I had pains all the way up until about my 3rd trimester. I was told by the midwife that they were basically due to my body changing and growing so not to worry about it. I did find that by rubbing where the pain was it helped to eleviate it a bit. If you are worried just phone up the midwives as thats all I did.
Cant remember who was asking about creams etc re stretch marks but I use the palmers stretch mark cream (smells nothing like the lovely cocoa butter, more like something to deter bugs) and so far touch wood I dont have any on my tummy. However, I think I may have some on my love handlesbut hey they are not stretch marks they are my tiger stripes which we should all wear with pride. I think it is a case of some people are just prone to them and others are not as my friend didn't use anything and she didn't get any.
My mw appointments were booking in apt, 16 weeks, 22 weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks and next one is 36 weeks. Thought that I might of seen them more often but nope not the case up here.
Ikkle re carrycot mattress its the uppababy one which we were told is suitable for overnight sleeps so I'm assuming that would be ok to use it as the moses basket then, or do you know what the mattress needs to have to comply with safety standards so to speak?
Think I have been having branston pickles as my husband calls the BH - he's been telling me what they should feel like as he has read all about them in his baby/pregnancy bible and according to him my symptoms match what he has read.
Hope everyone is having a good day.0 -

AFAIK it just has to be a breathable one hun so with it saying it was suitable for overnight sleeps I would assume it's fine. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
