Rups there is plenty of time to think about your birth hun, if you like the idea of waterbirth though you need to look into whether your local hospital offers them, how many pools they have etc, if there are any factors which suggest you can't have a water birth.

Due to being a high risk pregnancy and having a few health problems as well my labour choices are quite limited. I can't have a water birth, epidural or spinal block which means if I need a c-section I will need to have general anesthetic which I don't want. I also don't want pethidine for personal reasons and I can't take codeine lol.

That's why we are looking for books on hypnobirthing as although some people might think it's all mumbo jumbo and not real techniques I've heard a lot of really positive feedback and so want to try it. :)

I thought that about the Quinny it seemed a bit rickety to me too but the 3 wheeler we've got is really sturdy and easy to push, it's got a fixable front wheel so can be fixed for rough terrain or on full 360 swivel. x

I was quite keen on one of the graco travel systems from babiesrus that's currently on offer but DH kindly reminded that we need a 3 wheeler for offroad walks with the dog. Someone recommended the phil & teds classic but the reviews are not amazing so our best bet to far is the m&p sport 03. Size isn't really an issue so it's more about reliability I think... the search continues! Anyone on here has any 3 wheelers? Apart from quinnys (DH not keen on them!).

We have the Mothercare Xtreme travel system - it's a bit bulky and heavy, so not ideal if you need to fold and lift it a lot, but it's very sturdy whilst being perfectly pushable (is that a word?!...) with one hand if you're carrying an umbrella or supermarket basket. It's also comfortable for my DH to use - he's quite tall and some prams are very low. Like you, I wanted a 3 wheeler as I do a lot of walking, but I also use London buses and taking the pram on the bus is OK. It's currently on offer at £200 minus 10% if you use the code on their homepage: www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Xtreme-Pushchair-Travel-System---Grey-Mist/327323,default,pd.html.

    Evening everyone!

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

We've spent the day at OH nan's care home, was lovely sitting in the lounge with her and her friends drinking tea and eating cake and them telling us their life stories! I find old people fascinating, I love listening to them! Will go back in a few weeks with baby as they all want cuddles :D

I second that about Kiddiecare, we're down in Essex so unfortunately Peterbourough is too far for us to drive but we got the Obaby Zezu Dotty from the website and got such a good deal. We'd been looking at it for ages, liked the red but wanted to find out the sex first as OH thought it was too girly for a boy. So when we found out its team blue, we got the lime colour. I noticed that the price kept going up and down, and the offers kept changing so we held out and got the whole travel system plus a FREE car seat for £239! We already had a MaxiCosi Cabriofix car seat so we're going to put the free Obaby one on Ebay! (Its only £59 to buy new but the reviews arent great on the car seat).

Apparantly, when BestBuy went bust, Kiddiecare bought all of the units they were in so we're going to have a big Kiddiecare open up in Lakeside in the Autumn which will be great!

ohh the choices of birth..:) i was reading through my notes and am not even sure at this stage.. the waterbirth does sound good but i dont know. am such a wimp when it comes to pain.:(

Try not to worry at this stage - you still have plenty of time to explore your different options, and you will be able to talk through them with your midwife and/or in your antenatal classes (which your midwife can tell you about if she hasn't already). One thing I would say though is to remain open-minded about your choices even when you do have all the information at hand. It's definitely good to have an idea of what you would like and the pros and cons of different interventions, but ultimately it comes down to what is best for you and your baby. I thought I wanted a waterbirth, but ended up with induction, pethidine, epidural (best thing in the world - although if you'd asked me beforehand I'd have said I didn't want one!) and eventually a c-section. None of it was in my birth plan, but it was what needed to happen and/or felt right once I was in the middle of it all... And remember that whatever's in your birth plan, you can always change your mind - e.g. if you're in a birthing pool and you're finding the pain unbearable, there's nothing stopping you from getting out of the pool and having an epidural (assuming, of course, that there's no medical reason preventing this).

There was a girl in my physio class who used hypnobirthing with her first child and said it was brilliant.

I was really into waterbirth until I realised that water in the pool is likely going to be... very warm. I hate baths and can't stand any more than 10 minutes in them and if the water is very warm I soon start feeling sick and need to come out. So I think that pretty much rules out water birth for me :( I like to be cool and I'm afraid I'm going to be struggling with the temperature in the hospital - when I went in for monitoring it was so hot (I had t-shirt and leggings on) that if they kept me there any longer I would've fainted!

Re 3-wheelers: I heard X-landers are pretty good.

Ooh I hate being too warm as well, I always have the windows open at home and when I was in hospital the other week I wore a vest and shorts on a night, had the window next to me open and slept on top of the covers lol. I'm the same at home though I don't do covers in bed whereas my OH really snuggles up in them.

    Evening everyone,

Have had a lazy weekend as still have this stupid cold. Popped in to town yesterday and picked up the changing mat and cotbed sheets from Next. Am waiting for the wall stickers to come back in stock, very annoying. Today popped out and picked up a Pizza Hut takeaway. Very naughty then chilled watching 27 Dresses and the footy.

Ooh and I ordered my changing bag.

I was treating myself from my bonus which I get tomorrow, but yesterday I came home to a surprise £50 cheque from a Take a Break comp so am using that towards it instead :)

    Hope everyone's doing well.

I've seen quite a lot of those changing bags around and wondered where you got them, they are lovely! Very nice bellola and well done on the cheque! Although the yummy mummy ones are out of my price range, we got ours from Ebay for £15!

So hard to choose one, our pram is lime green so got it to match :)
