Congrats Triangle!
Thanks for the posts and hugs following my meltdown this morning! Don't quite know how I lasted the day at work. The sniffles have developed into a full blown head cold. Head & throat are killing me plus feet have swelled again. And it's a bit difficult to keep them elevated when you work in an office! Dinner was a cooling bowl of vanilla ice cream and I have now taken myself off to bed. Hubby's not complaining though as he gets to watch the footy in peace.
Hopefully some sleep will solve everything.
Hope everyone else is doing ok!0 -
My boobs are not leaking either although I had a dream tonight that I woke up and my left boob was all sticky with creamy looking stuff. I hope it was some sort of a premonition :rotfl:
Speaking about boobs - my mum told me recently that I have to treat them daily with cold water and rough towel  (not too rough!) so that my nipples get tougher for feeding. Seemingly this is what she was told to do 30years ago and it worked for her - she bf 4. I'm a bit sceptical so haven't tried this yet but maybe I should?
Re speeding things up - I think I'm going to try the reflexology thing from the video that kelda posted earlier. There seem to be quite a few encouraging comments on youtube from women for whom it worked.
And sorry for a silly question but I started wondering what clothes to pack for the baby for the hospital bag and am now a bit lost. Sleepsuits - what does a baby wear underneath them? Just a nappy or would I put on a bodysuit underneath as well? And if not then what are short-sleeved bodysuits for? Do you wear them with trousers or what?
I would be grateful if you could tell me what and how many items of clothing you are going to pack for your babies.
your poor nips - that sounds awful! BF wont be painful if babes is latched on right... if you can get a class or something as part of antenatal then def take them up on it if you really want to BF0 -
u put a short sleeved vest under everything lol
well this is what i did anyway - treat it like the underwear for the baby
if its nice wether they still need something soft next to their skin other than just their tshirt so u still need a vest - the short legged romper suits are good for the summer - my dd was born in a hot may and spent a lot of time just in a short sleeved vest
love you lots like jelly tots0 -
Yeah its my first baby too and I feel exactly the same. Apart from some strong BH now and again I'm not feeling zilch either!
Although at what point can we start trying to help things along? Eg, eating my body weight in pineapple, jumping on OH every 5 seconds and tweaking my nipples hourly?? I thought it was best when you are overdue, so anytime after 40 weeks? Or can it help things along sooner?
My nipples only leak when squeezed, mostly its clear liquid, sometimes its creamy! Weird. And I woke up with about 20 more stretchmarks than I had yesterday. Grrrrrrr.
AFAIK, if you're not ready for labour nothing will really help (apart from an induction with that synthetic oxytocin they use). thanks rjh. I thought sleepsuits and vests are either or and wasn't sure which ones to pack for the hospital :rotfl:0 -

Not silly at all. I was wondering this too. Apparently you use sleeveless body suits underneath their sleepsuit. The rule of thumb is that they have one more layer of clothing than you'd wear. Therefore if you're in just a t-shirt, your baby needs a t-shirt plus a vest (for example).
I'm taking loads! I've shoved in six sleepsuits, six vests and a hat. Hopefully I won't need anything like that amount but there's room in the bag so I figured why not? The hat's not for warmth - despite what they say about babies not being able to regulate their temperature I reckon a maternity ward in June's going to be just as warm as my womb! But no, I'm taking it just in case the baby gets one of those cone heads from being squashed in my love tunnel."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Thanks fluff. Are you taking newborn size only or both newborn and 0-3?
I am worried about the cone head too. Me and my siblings were all born by c-section so we never had that problem. My mum keeps going on about it how it would be good if I had a section too as babies come out without effort and have normal heads.0 -
I've done the same, 5 sleepsuits, 5 vests, 2 hats, 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of scratch mittens, 2 blankets....bascially just packed loads! 10 nappies, cotton wool, wipes, bottles, milk, and the kitchen sink. Can never have too much stuff.
I keep putting stuff in my bag thinking 'just incase' and its getting a bit full.....as long as baby's sorted, OH can always bring me bits I suppose but I hate being unorganised!Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0 -

Hi
Can I be added to the list please. I'm due on the 27th of October and we think it's a boy. Had a gender scan and was told 90% sure it was a boy but I'm not convinced as baby was being very uncooperative. This is our second child, our DD is 10.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0
