You know, talking of elective ways of getting your baby out (I was being facetious btw, I guess you mean a bit of sexy time :D)... there was a snippet on the radio an hour or so ago about the medical system in the US. Whilst the article wasn't about obstetric care per se, it did mention that elective inductions were really popular in the States.

Apparently, just because it's 'convenient' women were choosing to have an induction around 37 or 38 weeks. The implication was that there was no medical reason for these early inductions, simply that it fitted their diaries better!

Unsurprisingly studies found that these babies were more likely to have initial difficulties, nothing major that affected their overall health, but difficulties nonetheless, and now hospitals are realising that it's far better to induce only if there's a clear medical need.

Honestly! The yanks are nutters! Anyone watch that Maternity Ward programme on Really in the afternoons? Childbirth is so medicalised over there. All the women are flat on their backs, they all have epidurals, the babies are delivered by doctors not midwives, and 'natural labour' is seen as some wacky alternative that only the hippies go in for. Bizarre!

No idea on the stickers just yet! Think will add as as after thought :rotfl:Ifyou are wanting pictures you need to be looking here ... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151550971185574.844016.677345573&type=1 If you can't see you need to be adding me lol.

Oh my God, I could so come to yours and help you sort through it all lol. I think I have OCD, I have everything sorted into size order or all the bedding in drawers specific to what they are like blankets, sheets etc.

At least you've got everything though, so once the room is decorated you get to do the fun stuff and play with it all as you put it away lol.

I really struggled finding stickers that I liked that's why I ended up painting my own pictures. We've still stuck with our jungle/safari theme though and theres bits of wild animals all over lol.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Will do. Although if it's really successful and sets me off straight away, the OH will never forgive me.... the footy's on in an hour :D

Yeah its my first baby too and I feel exactly the same. Apart from some strong BH now and again I'm not feeling zilch either!

Although at what point can we start trying to help things along? Eg, eating my body weight in pineapple, jumping on OH every 5 seconds and tweaking my nipples hourly?? I thought it was best when you are overdue, so anytime after 40 weeks? Or can it help things along sooner?

My nipples only leak when squeezed, mostly its clear liquid, sometimes its creamy! Weird. And I woke up with about 20 more stretchmarks than I had yesterday. Grrrrrrr.
Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference :)

those american shows bloody terrify me, the cascade of intervention is just so scary. and they all seem to have the world and his wife gazing up their ladygardens there in the delivery room!!! i was induced at 38 weeks with my first, for very urgent medical reasons, and after having a spontaneous due-date birth for my second, theres no way i would pick an induction for convenience. not a fun business at all...

Awww animal theme sounds lovely. Yes on the sorting front. I can't wait to go and play house making and put it all into place. :rotfl:

My boobs are not leaking either although I had a dream tonight that I woke up and my left boob was all sticky with creamy looking stuff. I hope it was some sort of a premonition :rotfl:

Speaking about boobs - my mum told me recently that I have to treat them daily with cold water and rough towel  (not too rough!) so that my nipples get tougher for feeding. Seemingly this is what she was told to do 30years ago and it worked for her - she bf 4. I'm a bit sceptical so haven't tried this yet but maybe I should?

Re speeding things up - I think I'm going to try the reflexology thing from the video that kelda posted earlier. There seem to be quite a few encouraging comments on youtube from women for whom it worked.

And sorry for a silly question but I started wondering what clothes to pack for the baby for the hospital bag and am now a bit lost. Sleepsuits - what does a baby wear underneath them? Just a nappy or would I put on a bodysuit underneath as well? And if not then what are short-sleeved bodysuits for? Do you wear them with trousers or what?

I would be grateful if you could tell me what and how many items of clothing you are going to pack for your babies.
