 welcome bikelesschick, I've added you to the list :)

I read back last night but was too tired to comment and now I can't remember anything

I'm off back to my hometown for the night as it's my eldest nephew's 6th birthday so I won't be posting much as I'll only have my phone.

I hope you all have nice weekends

    Morning all,

Well here are the letters that we sent as promised regarding maternity and paternity notification. On my MATB1 form, the midwife had put that the baby was due in the week including 28th September (the original date they had when I first booked in, hence the difference in due date and the wording).

    Maternity notification:
    To whom it may concern,

I am writing to inform you that I am pregnant, and my expected due date is in the week of Friday 28th September 2012 (please see the MATB1 form enclosed).

If I am eligible for Statutory Maternity Pay, I would like to start my maternity leave on Friday 28th September 2012. I understand that if the baby is born before this date that my maternity leave will start from the day the baby is born, and I should notify you of this as soon as I reasonably can. I also understand that if I am unable to work in the last 4 weeks before my due date because of illness related to my pregnancy, that my maternity leave will start the day after the first day of my absence.

Please could you confirm whether I am able to earn Statutory Maternity Pay, and the amount I will be paid if eligible and the date on which this is expected to end? If I am only entitled to Statutory Maternity Allowance, please can you send back the MATB1 Form as well as the notification of this fact along with any extra forms I may need to claim this?

I look forward to hearing your response within 28 days of receiving this notification.
    Paternity notification:
    Dear _____,

I am writing to inform you that my wife, (NAME), is pregnant with our first child, and her expected due date is in the week of Friday 28th September 2012 (please see the MATB1 form enclosed).

I would therefore, like to take Statutory Paternity Leave for the duration of 2 weeks, which will commence the day that our baby is born. I will endeavour to inform you of the date that our baby is born as quickly as possible.

I would also like to thank you for your support in allowing me to have time off for antenatal appointments during the pregnancy.
Hope these are of some help to some of you. I sent them off yesterday (mine has been sent as signed for) so I will let you know when I get a response as to what it was in terms of the date etc for mine.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/2017

Morning all. Felt amazing when I woke up, slept solidly from 11pm until 8.30am with just one quick wee break at 3.30am. :D Must be the blackout blinds!

However, I'm already feeling knackered again. DH wants to go out to the shops etc but I really don't have the energy, think I need to conserve what I do have!

Feels weird cos normally at weekends its me that wants to do stuff and him that wants to sit around...!

Rjh, hope your little girl arrives soon :o

Right to combat the hospital yesterday I've had 2 bowls of porridge and 4 flapjacks this morning. I'm STILL getting heart palpitations...it is NOT that I'm not eating enough!!! ARGH!

Honestly, you'd think it was a bloody crime to be slim! Surely I cost them less than bloody obese people! Stop having a go I do NOT have an eating disorder....I am just SLIM!!!!!!!!!!

Rant over....doctors, physio and consultant appointment next week. What fun!

Hi Twinklie, sorry to hear about your palps. I've had them since before I was pregnant and upon initial investigation they said it was due to stress.

I mentioned it to my MW in my booking appointment and they re-investigated and they've diagnosed it as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, which I understand as faulty electronic currents in my heart. After the baby is born they're going to insert a catheter from the artery in my groin up to my heart and use radio frequency to get rid of the bad cells.

In the meantime, I am still getting palps roughly every 2 weeks and I think they're definitely brought on by stress. I also had an ultrasound on my heart and because of all of this I'm seeing an obstetrician on Monday (am 31 weeks now).

Am very nervous as I'm worried they'll say I need to have a planned Caesarean. As this is my first baby, I really want to try and go through the labour process naturally.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I asked the cardiologist and he said there was nothing I could do or not do to prevent the palps, just avoid stressful situations.

I doubt if I've offered you much advice but wanted to send you my sympathies as I know how annoying they are, and hugs!

Breastfeeding - at my antenatal classes run by a midwife who also runs a breastfeeding clinic I was told basically what mishkanorman said.

The baby's mouth has to be wide open and hit the bottom of the aerola (or the top, or the side - because this is where milk ducts are) and that the nipple has to hit the roof of the baby's mouth. The MW also said that the baby's head has to be tilted back slightly as it makes it easier for the baby to swallow. She told us to do an exercise: put our heads down and try to swallow - very difficult and this is how difficult it is for the baby if its head is pushed towards the breast and not tilted back.

The MW insisted that breastfeeding should NEVER hurt and if it does then it's not done right. Also, I asked my mum who breastfed 4 of us and she said she never had any problems or pains so that makes me a bit more positive.

I've spent my morning cleaning the kitchen, i.e. sitting on a chair and telling hubby where to clean, what cleaner and which cloth to use. I'm feeling really positive now - have never enjoyed cleaning more :rotfl:

In the afternoon we're finally picking up our Uppababy which we ordered back in April. Can't wait to have it here and play about with it. :j

Have a good day everyone and labour vibes to those who need them.
