Hi Twinklie, sorry to hear about your palps. I've had them since before I was pregnant and upon initial investigation they said it was due to stress.

I mentioned it to my MW in my booking appointment and they re-investigated and they've diagnosed it as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, which I understand as faulty electronic currents in my heart. After the baby is born they're going to insert a catheter from the artery in my groin up to my heart and use radio frequency to get rid of the bad cells.

In the meantime, I am still getting palps roughly every 2 weeks and I think they're definitely brought on by stress. I also had an ultrasound on my heart and because of all of this I'm seeing an obstetrician on Monday (am 31 weeks now).

Am very nervous as I'm worried they'll say I need to have a planned Caesarean. As this is my first baby, I really want to try and go through the labour process naturally.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I asked the cardiologist and he said there was nothing I could do or not do to prevent the palps, just avoid stressful situations.

I doubt if I've offered you much advice but wanted to send you my sympathies as I know how annoying they are, and hugs!

Wow sorry to hear this Chrissy, that sucks. Still, at least you've identified the problem and it's fixable. I know the labour thing is a bit rubbish, but don't worry about it. The important thing is you are there for your little one!!

See I just felt fobbed off for being slim, and everyone (friends) keeps saying it's hormones. However, unless they investigate as per the advice of the hospital I won't know. And since I feel like they are getting more frequent I'd like an answer. I hate not knowing. I get them everyday, after eating and when I sit or lie down.

I've already got a lung condition that someone of my age shouldn't have...so why not add another drama into the mix. ;)

    Hi all,

I'm back from France, had a lovely time but feet have got rather swollen. My mother was worrying but swollen feet is normal isn't it? Especially in heat/after flying? I am in 3rd tri now so I wasn't too worried but everyone else worrying is beginning to freak me out! I have 28 wk appt on Thurs so will mention to MW.

Still haven't got my GTT results - was nearly 3 weeks ago so presumably there's not a problem!

Congrats to new mummies, I'm sorry I can't remember names!

Thanks to whoever it was that mentioned the Bear stuff in Dunelm. Nursery has a bear theme so we got the organiser, nappy stacker, sleep cubes and a hanging for the door. Which fits in with the Babies R Us bits we already had.

Had lots of housework and washing to do today plus the food shop and have been awake since 5 so needing a rest now!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Even with correct latch and baby feeding properly breast feeding can and may hurt. It doesnt always mean incorrect latch. We were talking about this on the newborn group the other day xx

I have just spoken to my mum who mentioned about how I used to get palpitations when I was younger before passing out...but the doctor said it was low blood pressure. :(

The consultant yesterday asked me about if I'd had any problems before - I said no. Turns out I have. I wouldn't mind but my mum was sat there. When I asked mum why she didn't say anything, she said "Oh, I thought if you weren't mentioning it then neither should I!". OMG...she knows I remember nothing at the minute - not to mention this was years ago. So off to the doctors on Monday it is then as the hospital suggested. Boo.

    Hi all :hello:

Welcome to jordan and bikeless  Huge hugs :grouphug: to all those who want one and thanks for info about breastfeeding techniques. Bellola, yes swollen feet a very common complaint in pregnancy (mine are huge!) but keep an eye on them - if they as well as your hands become itchy or your face swells too or you have any concerns at all, have a chat with your midwife :)

Well I went to hospital yesterday afternoon for blood pressure check - and was admitted for the night on maternity ward as was much too high. Urine and bloods all fine though so they don't think its a sign of pre-eclampsia, instead just pregnancy related hypertension. Didn't get a wink of sleep (how anyone manages to sleep when in a 6 person bay is beyond me!) but medication managed to bring it down so I will be on it now until baby is here. I was allowed to go home at lunchtime but have to go back to maternity assessment on Monday for BP check and a scan to check I haven't lost any waters (measuring a tad small now). I think I will be up the hospital every day until baby is here and am also now consultant led - I am also under the impression that they won't let me go too much beyond due date. But I am remaining very cheerful if stuipdly tired - can't wait to meet little man and pleased that we are both being well looked after :) Plus I saw some delicious babies on the postnatal bay :D

Under strict instructions to do nothing else for next two weeks - I presume attacking ice cream is not included in this?! :)

    Take care all xx

Well I've just had an extremely busy afternoon - my M&D called at 12 to ask if they could come around at 2.30 with a chest of drawers that we'd said we wanted. Trouble was, I was in the middle of sorting out my car insurance renewal (it took me nearly 2 hours in the end as I used various comparison engines and made a few phonecalls), I hadn't showered or dressed or eaten lunch, and I had not emptied any of the drawers that the new chest was replacing. Cue manic cleaning and me getting stressed as I tried to find time to fit it all in. They've also helpfully brought round a cardboard box full of stuff that they've had of mine that I can't even face opening, and I don't have enough room to store what we do have as the chest of drawers holds less than I thought! I haven't even had a chance to take my Gaviscon since lunch so after bending over hoovering skirting boards etc, my back is killing me and I'm in heartburn hell! Off to take some Gaviscon now Moon is back from work, and he's just finished off some more hoovering for me. At least the bed is clear of stuff now so I can put my feet up.

Clearly I'm in hormone hell, that rat pic just had me in tears. I had a baby girl that looked exactly like that. She was a wonderful little rat. So affectionate.
