Braxton hicks aren't meant to have pain I thought. Maybe it's the start of something. Try paracetamol and moving and if they don't go away I would start timing
Thanks. I've been getting very strong BH for a few days now, sometimes painful/intense, but not always. They are very frequent at times (every few mins), but then die away again back to every half hour or so.
The period pain is a new thing today, and seems to be independent of the BH - it's more constant. Does seem to ease off if I move around a bit, although that makes the BH more intense, LOL! Period pain has died down for the time being, though, so I'm feeling a lot better now.
Saw my mum, aunts, and nana yesterday, and they're all convinced I'm going to have the baby in the next few days, but I'm not sure...would rather the house was a bit more sorted, TBH! They're all coming round tomorrow morning though to give my kitchen and bathroom a proper deep clean, bless 'em.

Hi ladies, hope you're all doing ok. Our little Katie has finally grown into size 1 nappies at 6.5 weeks old!!
I see you've been discussing breast pumps. I have ended up feeding Katie on expressed breast milk full time so my pump gets ALOT of hammer!! I express 5-7 times a day and do both sides each time. I am using the ARDO Calypso and can highly recommend it. it's a bit dearer than the ones you see most in the shops (medela etc.) but it is really good. i also have the tommee tippee one and its nothing like as good as the ARDO but I would be quite happy with it if I was only expressing occasionally rather than full time.0 -
Oh didn't know this. I had been looking at all the cot bedding sets in ToysRus etc and couldn't find one I liked so thought maybe I could do my own. I have lots of hand knitted blankies from my mum so will see if they fit. Plus we were thinking of using the grow bag things as well so she wouldn't really need any covers etc.
What about making things like the tidies that hang on the end of cots if you're after something to do that's crafty to "theme" up a room? I had a "things to sew for baby" (hah hah as if I had the time) book that had a pattern for them in - you know the basic sheet of fabric with ties, and then pockets sewn on top for everything and anything... or nappy stackers and the like (not that I've ever seen the point of 'em myself) - rather than bedding? Never saw the point of the cot bedding sets myself - you go through stuff so quickly if you've got a sicky baby that the nice coordinated set doesn't go on the bed much at all as it's more of a "crap what's not in the wash tonight" dealie.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Guys is the babysrus sale still on tomorrow or was today the last day? If I reserve to collect do I need to take the printed voucher with me. I'm guessing its inclusive of Tuesday?0

Our cot is just going to sit and look pretty in the babies room for a little while as we have a really pretty crib for him which will be in our room, we've got plenty of sheets and blankets and a couple of sleeping bags too.
Our cot is still in the baby's room while she's in the moses basket (don't think we'll get more than about another month max out of that - from something so small - 4lb 15 she didn't come 1/3 of the way up it, she's sure as heck grown into things). The cot's the compact cot-size and not a cot-bed so it'll fit in the bedroom - but I won't be able to have it right by the side of my bed like I have the moses basket so I'm holding off as long as possible since mid-night dummy-finding's easier when you haven't got to get out of the duvet to find it!
Just bought a travel cot to go away with as well - was planning on just using the pram carrycot (and we did last time we popped away last month) but she's starting to outgrow that as well... figure the travel cot can double up as a playpen downstairs and somewhere to nap during the days when needed to keep baby away from dogs when I'm slightly distracted - they wouldn't bite - but she'd get covered very quickly in greyhound slobber from being licked! Mothercare - £29 from £39 - includes a (admittedly pretty crappy but they usually are in travel cots) mattress.
And Asda still had some sleeping bags in (in their usual only blue or pink colour choices - grrr) for a fiver yesterday - 1.6 tog, I paid £4 for a pink 0-6 month one, used it last night (till it got puked on at 3am) and it was OK - if anything it felt snugglier than the mothercare ones we normally use.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Morning all,
Can't believe I have had to come into work today! Our company decided to 'shift' todays bank holiday to Christmas Eve as it's on a Monday this year so it will save people having to come in for one day. It's a load of nonsense though cos most people would have booked Christmas Eve off, or they could have just given us the extra day as a gesture of goodwill (especially as they haven't given us any payrises in the last four years!) I'll be off on maternity leave then anyway so it's not much good to me! Although I will get it as paid leave so I guess I am not really missing out. Sorry, didn't mean to start my post by ranting, lol!
Good luck turtle I can't wait to hear how you are getting on! Hope you are having mummy cuddles really soon! And good luck for your exam rjh hope it all goes well tomorrow. Sorry to hear your OH has been playing you up - think it has been the weekend for it! My OH is a lot better now, but I have found it really hard to be nice to him this weekend!
I've read all the posts about the breast pumps with interest; think I am going to go for the medela one now so been looking on ebay at new ones and there's a few one there finishing in the next few days. Also been interested in all the cat queries; we have been worried about how our two are going to react. They are so used to sleeping with us and if we shut them out of the bedroom they claw at the door. We were thinking of getting some netting to put over the cot/crib so that the cats can't get in, although I don't think either of my two will be fussed about getting in anyway! My OH's stepsister brough her baby round a few weeks ago and my tabby took one look at the baby, had a sniff and then ran upstairs and hid! he did come down a couple of times and watched the baby fromt he safety of the stairs; he then came and had a little wander around but he was really suspicious still and fled straight back up the stairs if the baby was brought near him. i think it will take him a few days to get used to baby but the fact that he was quite inquisitive still was reassuring. Not sure how the other one will be though; think she will be interested by baby but will probably be a bit unsure of it for a few days as well. I did read somewhere that you are supposed to take an item of clothing that the baby has worn and give it to your pets to smell so that they can get used to the scent. I will be giving anything and everything a go - I love my cats to bits and don't want them to be unduly stressed.
Didn't get far deciding what to do with the house this weekend; OH and I still can't agree whether we should have electric heaters or central heating and until we decide that we can't get anything else done. OH does realise that we are now fast running out of time so we know by this Sat we need to have made a decision and have an orderplaced so the next few days are going to be spent looking at diff options and quotes. Not much fun, but at least when it is done I can get on with looking at fun baby stuff for the nursery - yay!
Bump is wriggling as I type, must know I am on this forum! Oh and I have been amused as sometimes my bump looks lopsided as baby is sticking out in various positions! I do get quite uncomfy at times though when baby moves around, especially when it seems to be below my belly! It's such an odd sensation!
Hugs to everyone today, hope you have a fun Bank Holiday Tuesday!0 -
Yay! Just called our local Toys r Us and they've got the cotbed in stock, so we're off there today to get it with the 20% off.
My Mum is also very pleased as she's paying for it. lol
