That's the main reason I want to breastfeed Gin, the cost of formula is ridiculous for what it is. Talking £40 a month for us probably, which to me seems insane if I can feed for nothing, plus I'm also a lazy moo, and the thought of sterilising and rinsing, and putting together bottles constantly doesn't thrill me
Same for me too
Though I will have the hassle of expressing and doing bottles for when I'm back at work, I'm still hoping to manage 6 months of breastfeeeding...0 -
Glad to know I'm not the only stingey lazy mum
if I can't breastfeed for whatever reason I won't be distraught though, just something I'll have to get on with
OH is away for his exam now, I'm at a loose end, don't know what to be doing with myself. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Ooooh. (TMI probably) woke up this morning to some blood on my pad, and a tiny amount when I wiped. What do we think about that?!?
Also Lucy, I don't know if you'l get a chance to see this but the Britax B Smart is down in price in Boots atm xx
Hi Gilly... Here speaks the lady of a zillion false starts! :rotfl:
Chances are if it is a small amount, it isnt plug. Doesnt mean it isnt anything though. Small amounts are a good sign that the cervix is starting to change in readiness- a kind of pre-show. In hindsight, and having seen what was actually my plug in hospital, as compared to what i found on my pad and thought might have been show, the difference is obvious.
Of course.... i may be totally wrong (again!) Lol.
Re: breastfeeding being a contraceptive. Our M/w at the antenatal class was very helpful on this. BF can prevent conception, but in very tight circumstances, so tight, that the likelyhood of never slipping up and leaving oneself open to conceiving, is low! Basically, (although there is a little more to it) you have to soley B/F from day one and never ever ever ever, even once, leave it more than 6 hours between feeds. Which if you are late home, express milk, are ill, baby is ill etc is very difficult ot adhere to, and keep track of. Just one slip and........ :eek:Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I hoped you'd appearwell that sounds promising at least, even if it's another few weeks, at least my cervix is getting ready?
OH was saying phone someone, but who the hell can I phone? They're not going to tell me anything apart from sit tight or come in if it's soaking through pads, which its nowhere near.
I text a friend and she said her show was like a proper period. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I really wanted a natural birth, and was quite shocked when they said with the gest diabetes being as high as it is no chance, and with babe being breech that added to their case.
I wanted the excitement of the wait and wondering if every twinge might turn into soemthing rather than the clincial nature of a section but it's not turned out like that, and as long as baby is healthy i'm not gonna worry xxxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
Quite right Toniq, my biggest fear is a C Section, purely because I've never been through any sort of surgery before or even stayed over night in hospital, but if I had to have one for my babies safety and/or mine, I'd jump on it.
These things happen and beating yourself up about it, is silly, so it's good to know you've got a positive frame of mind on it. From what I've heard planned C Sections are completely calm and over all quite a positive experience.
Also you get to meet your little one a bit earlier, which can only be a good thingThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Afternoon all... Just managed to catch up on all your chatting!
I'm exhausted, I had to walk up to the surgery to have my bp checked again, it's still on the high side but as I have no protein in my wee, no headaches, no blurred vision etc, there's nothing they seem to want to do about it other than check it again on Friday. So will have to go back on Friday. The walk there was fine but I really was shuffling home, it seemed to take forever! However, I have realised that there is actually a little bus that goes about two thirds of the way there from just round the corner, so I think I will get the bus on Friday. It will mean being rather early for the appointment, as the bus only runs every hour, so I'll have to get the 11.10am bus for a midday appointment, but I'll take a book and sit and wait. Anything to not have to shuffle home again!
I'm planning/hoping to breastfeed, but I'm not going to stress if it doesn't work out. Neither me or my brother were breastfed and we're both perfectly healthy, intelligent adults so I know if I have to go down the formula route then it won't be detrimental to my baby's health, like some scaremongers would try and have you believe! I'm also in the money-saving and lazy camp! Money is going to be tight when I'm on SMP and I can't be faffed with the cleaning and sterilising of bottles and stuff if I don't have to... Anyway, it's just going to be one of those things, until baby's here and I'm giving it a shot then I won't know!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

Same here, i'm waaaay too tight to pay for formula if I can feed baby with mummy milk for free lol! However, if it doesn't work then it'll be straight onto the bottles and god help anyone who tries to make me feel bad about it! It's my baby and I'll feed it whichever way I want lol!!
My cotbed and baby gym (complete with obligatory giraffe!) have been delivered today and DH has been and bought a curtain pole and rug for the nursey. Its starting to feel like I'm getting organised......scary!!!0 -

I am not looking forward to the prospect of C-section. With twins, the chances of getting one are higher, or even worse, you deliver one naturally, and the second one needs emergency c-section, so you end up being sore on boths ends!!!!! I myself was born breach, but naturally, and had dislocated hips because of that (or so I am told), spent my first 8 months or so in a brace.
I am not scared of the operation. What worries me is the recovery!!!!!! I had a laporoscopy few years back, and even that was not an easy recovery - my scar didn't heal very quickly, the stitched took over a month if not more to 'dissolve', and I was sore for quite a while. So, having a bigger cut, through more layers of me, doesn't sound like a way to fast recovery!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
